    Had someone ask about the Shirt I wear all the time. Its the Collect What You Love shirt! I get 2-3dollars or so per sale of these so it certainly helps the channel out and helps me to test more ideas. You can find them here if you are interested! Also Mugs,Pillows,sweatshirts,stickers etc! www.teepublic.com/t-shirts/diskcart

    I built my own console stand a few years back for around $120 for all supplies. I can't remember exactly since I'm not at home, but I believe I have 12 consoles on it with my TV on top. Besides building one, this is a great option, I love Ikea! I use Ikea end tables and a display case in my game room, and we have a lot of other Ikea furniture and accessories in our house.

    • @DiskCart

    Improve those Kallax with some 1/8" tempered hardboard (cut by the home improvement warehouse for you), painted white, and tacked onto the back of your shelf with some #18 3/4" wire nails. Grab a 1 1/4" hole saw attachment for your drill or bitdriver and make a discreet hole in each cube where you need to pass an A/V and power cord. This will - 1. Hide your tangled mess of cords without having to do time consuming, crazy routing tricks. 2. Prevent dust coming in from the back of your shelf (you can silicone seal the edge around the backing board for an airtight backing). 3. LED lighting won't diffuse out of the back of your shelf, and will look MUCH better and be more efficient. 4. You now have a huge, unseen surface to mount those switchers, upscalers, line-doublers, etc. if you want to get really crazy.

    This is not a bad idea. I actually use one for my nintendo power mag collection.
    As far as Toploaded Gaming goes (see what I did there? lol) I pieced together a gondola riser and I can customize where my shelves sit. This also allowed me to find actual nintendo marketing to decorate the shelf with, such as the mario peg paper from toys r us, as well as their marketing strips. I love it! I need to customize my TV stand with a whole bunches of systems connecting to one TV. I couldn't find any. I wanted a separate division for each consoles and a glass door cover to protect against dust and hair but with an opening in the back for wiring. Plus it got to have breathing room so the consoles wont get overheated. Presently, I used my sister's old stereo cabinet with a glass door. I threw out all the old stereo, tape player, receiver and record player in the trash. Kinda regret throwing the record player now. My sister ask me if I wanted the cabinet or it will end up in the trash. That was almost 20 years ago. I'm glad I got it. It can hold up to 8-10 consoles at one time. On one side to open up the door, it use to hold up video tapes. I thought I got rid of them but there were some video tapes. There was Braveheart, Forrest Gump, and some manga anime copies from the 90s. Also, hmh. Xxx movies. I could use the side for controllers and wires. Now I think about it. That's a good option for the side. It's a good stereo cabinet but ages have come and it has aged. Squeaking glass door. Unhinged screw. Wood color stain and chipped. It's falling apart but holding steadily. They don't make this kind of cabinet now. A newer version cost about $150-$250.

    • @DiskCart
      @DiskCart  5 лет назад

      It is harder and harder to replace some of those good cabinets since people seem to use them less. Less dvds and cds because of streaming is really making it hard. Its a combination. I have a silent aircleaner constantly running which delays cleanings quite a bit. But generally I use an opolor air duster to blow dust off of items vacuum the space and wipe any surfaces like acrylic that are more prone to tiny bits of dust being visual. But it can beyond this , keeping the more precious items in clear cases , never wearing shoes in the room and keeping the door shut. I clean maybe every 2 months and that takes maybe 15 minutes total. Whenever I go into my space I have the electric air duster to grab and just lightly keep surfaces free of dust. Not difficult at all.

    Hi bro, I wanted to know if you could tell me, where you bought the bottle rack?

      Its an Ikea add on for the kallax shelf. Should pop up if you search kallax on ikeas site. Their site can be pretty bad sometimes but they should be in stock.

    Have you talked about the different ways of hooking up consoles? If not I'd like to see a video on that. I think everyone knows the best cables to use by now but the best way to route them and have it look nice is a whole different ball game.

    • @DiskCart
      @DiskCart  5 лет назад

      Cable management is my current battle! This is something that since I am personally tackling it, You bet i'll make a video on it. Im messing with different clips/hiding techniques to find the best ways to hide or just manage them. In the end Its more like making them the best they can be vs making them completely disappear it seems. Thank you for that!

    This is an awesome video! I have a Target brand organizer so I'd have to see if it would work with its dimensions. I wonder if there would be a way to rig something like a sliding drawer mechanism to slide out the consoles to swap games and cords easier? With this not being solid wood it may not be a good idea to drill into it too much. But perhaps there could be other ways to install a sliding mechanism. I couldn't find an item already made that would work. Keep up the great work!

      They sadly discontinued them.. They did recently start stocking divider inserts too several types. My Ikea is still yet to get those in stock.

  • @TopSpot123
    @TopSpot123 5 лет назад +1

    Nice overview! I really like the grey slide in box. It's a clever design even though functionally all it does is add a dividing shelf to each compartment.
    What are the interior dimensions of each compartment? These are typically around a foot cubed, is this IKEA unit any larger? Twelve inches fits most consoles well, but there are some outliers that can't quite fit that space.

      The biggest console I could fit in mine was my original XBox, and theres almost no wiggle room.

    • @DiskCart
      @DiskCart  5 лет назад

      Thats a very good point. I even remember a while ago hearing someone talk about turning their consoles sideways in a cube style shelf. Here I'll check the link with measurements but id bet its 12.

    • @DiskCart
      @DiskCart  5 лет назад

      They are 13" x 13" inside with a depth of 15 3/8" . Definitely these will not fit every console ever made. But should fit the vast majority.

    Loved my first time At ikea!! Awesome video by the way!! Did you have to customize the backboard? Or did it come with the kallax stand? mine didn’t come with the backboard for some reason 😩 now i have to go to Home Depot & make a backboard myself

    • @DiskCart
      @DiskCart  5 лет назад +1

      Thats awesome! Man that place is great with so many ideas ! The kallax dont have backing to them so if you need one you may need to do that homedepot run. I dont use one because I have them against the wall and it gives the leds i have a nice place to bounce from. I also recently made a video on cord management with these kallax stands that makes it easier to hide those nasty cords away! Man ikea is great!

    hi would this fit a sega master system 1 and could i gethem lights from amazon uk

    • @DiskCart
      @DiskCart  4 года назад

      So i checked it out and it looks like its around 1 inch too small inside of the kallax. Youd need to place in on top or sideways inside to fit. The kallax is 13x 13 inches. As for the Leds I use MINGER LED Strip Lights Kit from amazon. i usually go for the 16- 32 foot size. When it comes to leds a lot of them are very similar I just look for the ones with a clear coating over the leds and a short distance between leds. That will make for better diffusion of the led light and a more even light. If you get leds that end up too far apart it shows up like dots on the wall which can be a bit messy. sorry took so long to respond!

      Kallax are tv stands and can be used as shelves. Hope that clears things up. I have no video on the very basic stand that doesnt work well for consoles.
