As a Google tools novice looking to migrate way from Microsoft, I found your tutorial very attractive. You kept my attention throughout, divered quality content and taught me a lot. Thank you.
I am noticing a lot more of my colleagues are using Google Drive so I definitely needed a starter video on how to use this it more effectively...thank you!
I have watched many videos running for near one and a half hours and still left confused. Your quick video was very helpful, I now feel confident enough to use shared drive. Thank you.
I didn't even know that this thing existed until someone shared me a link that went to google drive. I. WAS. CONFUSED. AS. HELL. on how this work and just clicked anywhere..... Thank you so much for this tutorial! It really helped! I'll come back whenever I do something stupid.
What a great job you have done explaining google drive. I feel so much more confident about using it. You explain clearly and slowly enough for a novice to follow and understand. Thank you so much! Francine
thank you so much, I never know all the features and just how incredible it was. I am now able to use it to fullest and has made my life easier as I run my own business
This is wonderful things to look into -- however I am 80 yr. & slower than all others---I want everything & do not know how to check the ones I want today---So very nice--Why have I not been here before?? Thanks bete
I have a question. I have an interview with a corporate salon on Monday and I have SEVERAL photos to present in a portfolio. How csn I apply to Google Drive and present to potential employer?
I am afraid to edit anything in my google drive that I am sharing with my Science teacher team because even though I have copied the document, I'm somehow altering their documents. I really need help with this. Also, when I try to just post what they have (with their permission) from drive to my google classroom, instead of the document showing up on my classroom, a long link shows up that then takes me to a place where it asks which email account I choose. I don't want that for the students. I just want the students to be able to click on the document in my google classroom.
Hi Parisa, sharing is notoriously confusing with Drive and Docs but once you understand it, it becomes much simpler. I will be doing a video soon JUST on sharing in Drive, so subscribe if you haven't already and want to get an update when it comes out (and look for a name change on the channel as well!). From what you're describing here, it sounds like you might have more than one Google account? I'm not as familiar with Google Classroom, but what I would recommend is 1) Making sure you're signed into the correct account (sometimes it will still prompt another login even in you're already signed in which is annoying but you just have to do it) 2) open the sharing settings of the Doc you're trying to share AND the one you're don't want to share and make sure the settings are what you want them to be. It's possible that the original Doc was shared instead of the duplicate and that by adjusting them you can solve this problem. Two more quick ideas - 1. What your students see when they try to access the classroom will depend on their Google account set-up, how many accounts they have, and which ones they are logged into when they click your link, so they probably aren't encountering the same issues you are...does that make sense? 2. It may also be helpful to set up a "Shared Drive" to use for collaboration. If you're interested, I can also do a video covering this process. It can be really frustrating getting all of this set up...I hope you get it working soon!
Hi Judy, I've heard that complaint from a few people recently. I'll start releasing new videos over the next few weeks to address new questions. In the meantime, try clearing your browser cache!
Bellissimo, molto bravo.
Hi Renato, you're welcome! If I understand your question correctly, it sounds like when you back up files to drive, your local hard drive is reflecting duplicate content. This usually happens when you download a local (desktop) version of Drive in addition to using Drive in your browser. In that case the files are also stored locally so that you can access them offline. You can eliminate this problem by uninstalling the local version of Drive from your computer. I hope this helps!
When I am working on a document and wish to go to the Merriam-Webster Thesaurus, how do I go there and return to my document without leaving google docs and starting over again?
Thank you so much! I'm just using it and it was so confusing at first with the sharing and the editing and then the suggestions. You helped make sense of it! Thank you!
I want to simply clear some space on my slightly outdated Android phone. One way I was thinking of doing that was to delete some videos from Google Photos which is already backed up to Google Drive. It is my understanding that if I delete from Photos then it also deletes from Google Drive. Is that correct? If so, how can I save the videos onto a flash drive or on my PC hard drive? Is there a better way to back up the photos/videos? Thanks
Great question, Neil. Here is a thread that should give you some answers: www.quora.com/Why-does-Google-Photos-take-up-so-much-storage-space-on-my-phone-1
When it comes to sharing you have two options, either adding a person or copying the link. Is there a benefit to one or the other and why would you choose one over the other?
Adding people one at a time lets you give individual-level access to the Doc and change owners if you need to (edit, view-only, etc.). Link sharing is better for universal sharing and settings.
Would you know how I would connect my screenwriting software, FADE IN, to this cloud service in Google Drive? I want to work from the cloud but have no idea which end I start on. When I work on my script I want it saved in the cloud as I work. Do I have to start in FADE IN and somehow switch it over from saving on computer, to saving in the cloud?....very confusing to me, any help would be great!
Hey Jeff, I'm not familiar with the software that you're using, but maybe these two things will put you on the right track: 1) Google auto-saves all of the work that you do in Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc., so if you were to write a script using Google Docs, your work would be auto-saved. 2) To connect an app or cloud software you're using to another app or software, you can look into third party services like Zapier or Automate.io. Hope it helps!
How we use google Drive Backup RUclips videos. can you be very slowly share it ? as I have a youtube account, I want to backup my videos use google drive. Thank you .Yingying
Thanks for your question! You're absolutely welcome to *link to the video or mention the video* from within your course (as long as it's not *embedded* as paid content ;).
Please help, when I opened WhatsApp today it automatically took me to the backup chat page and to select an account, however when I entered my Google email address or phone it gave me these error messages: "This account already exists on your device". I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Is it just impossible to backup whatsapp to an account already registered to the same device?
Hello. I could be wrong here, but Gdrive does not seem to handle music or video clips very well, when storing on gdrive. Is gdrive mainly for documents and images.
David, that's correct - it's designed to better handle docs and images. For photos, Google Photos is a better solution. You can still store any file type in Drive, but it may not be the best solution depending on the functionality you're looking for.
need to know more about this Google drive tutoring subject. I'll be surprised on how much I can learn and school myself out of this more then using a computer or going to school.
Hey Elizabeth, congrats on jumping into this new topic! Google Drive is the name of Google's cloud storage product. "My Drive" is your personal instance of the platform. So, when you log into your own Drive account, you'll see the "My Drive" label. Essentially, they're the same thing, but you'll know you're in your account when you see "My Drive".
Can I create and download multiple drives (i.e. one for each client)? Also, I imagine if I do, the drive folders take up space on my laptop as well, right?
The idea of a web drive is that only the file you are currently using uses you network bandwidth, & local memory, but no storage space, unless you 'download' a copy.
If you download them, yes, they will take up more space on your laptop. To have different drives for each client, you have to set up different Google accounts. An easier option is to create a folder for each client and only share access to that parent folder. Hope it helps!
Great video, great information. I have a question for you as I am new to Google Drive and hope that you can help me out of a jam. My dilemma is this: I have, My Drive > T-mobile > H&R Block > H & R Block_Schedules. As you can see T-mobile has no business in that file array. Please give me the instructions on how to extrapolate that file so that I can isolate it as its own file. Thank you for any assistance.
Hi Rocco, we don't have any visibility into your personal Drive, but it sounds like you're having trouble opening a file? You may be dealing with a file that's zipped or that you don't have access to. Try downloading the file to your desktop and opening it from there. Beyond that I don't think we can assist further. Hope it helps.
Thank you for your feedback. It is very much appreciated. I may not have done a great job describing my problem and for that I apologize. The problem is not with a zip file. As I was setting up my folder system I inadvertently created sub folders that are of a completely different category. Without deleting anything, I simply wanted to separate the two categories and was not certain of how to go about doing so. Take care and thanks again for helping out.
Hi Rocco, thanks for the clarification. If you want to re-organize your folders, all you have to do is click on the folder and drag to a new location (you can drag into folders in the sidebar) OR you can 1) select the folder you want to move 2) click on the 3 dots in the upper right menu bar and 3) select "move to" and choose a new location from there. Hope it helps!
How do you keep your stuff personal all over Google ...aka people who know you or use to know you are trying to view or maybe use it negatively stalk you or steal photos or view photos without you knowing ...I tryied to find in the help menu .. basically use all Google apps without any unknown individuals viewing them...even if they know your phone number and also your addresses to platforms...can you please help...
Great tutorial! I have a question - If someone shares a document with me and I move it into one of my folders, then they delete the document from their drive, will I still have it in my folder? Thanks for the info!
This is one of the best tutorials I've ever watched. Super clear and concise. Thank you!

Hi Kate, it WILL delete that file unless they transfer ownership to you or you make your own copy. Hope it helps!
