I came here for a drawing tutorial, but in reality the only thing you didn't cover was mining and refining the silver and cutting down the tree for the wood you used. Great job.
Wow, you cut up a silvercoin! I just got a piece of silverwire from a friend who is into jewellery to make a stylus. For my ground I mixed up some acrylic paint, powdered chalc, and some drops of india ink. Worked quite well. It is an interesting medium.
@@olddirtymasters Yeah, I like it, it is very precise. A bit unforgiving perhaps, when you have put down a mark it is pretty permanent. But that is compensated by the lightness of it. You have an interesting channel, have been browsing it a bit lately. Great techniques!
Edze Jan de Haan Thanks for checking out my channel and for the kind words! I do wonder how people corrected their silverpoint drawings in the past, especially on vellum. Maybe if there is enough coating one can just scrape with a knife..?
@@olddirtymasters I made my own grounds according to Cennini's recipe. If you do it that way and just dust it on, you can erase on parchment with a piece of soft bread (or a kneaded eraser if we're being modern.) He also has instructions for making a wooden tablet for silverpoint, which is "erasable" by spitting on your finger and smudging out the drawing, lol. I really like your idea of using a silver dollar for a wide tip, I might try that! I love how silverpoint looks once it's tarnished a bit, don't you?
1633....the year Galileo Galilei was condemned for heresy in Rome and the Thirty Years War was ravaging Central Europe... but we celebrate that year because of Rembrandt and his young bride... mysteries of life eh?
Very nice indeed. 🥰🥰🥰
Very impressive, I'm amazed.

Emelina le Norreys Thanks for your comment and tips from Cennini. I’ll have to look that up, I’ve never tried vellum.
Thanks a lot!
