Hello, I'm a fellow 924, 2.0 na Audi enthusiast and you should be very glad that this engine is not an interference engine. Snapping that timing belt could have been game over in an interference type engine. Bravo to fixing on the side of the road
That was a great adventure with some fun added to it. Again another great fantastic high quality video! I'm very impressed with your skills as filmmaker.
I just watched all the videos in one go and all I can say is wow! Beautiful photography and a joy to watch. Also, the 924 is a tough little beast! Keep it up lads!
Keep going, this was outstanding! The series was beautifully done, like everything else I’ve watched on your channel. Can’t wait to see where your next adventure will take you.
Your videos are mesmerizing and intoxicating to watch. Such amazing footage and a journey I can only wish I was going on with you all! Glad the timing belt was able to be fixed on your engine to continue going on your journey.
I've just enjoyed your article in the 924 Owners Club magazine. I remembered watching an earlier episode but I've now caught up on the rest of the adventure. Your car was a true testament to their reliability. Fantastic video production as well. I don't know how you achieved some of those shots outside of the car. Good luck with the other 924's you've recently bought and may you enjoy many other adventures in unlikely cars.
Enjoyed your video, signed up for the rally in 2022 I am going to take an A8/S8 four wheel drive assume be Ok with studded tyres as you managed with normal winter tyres
Hi, I think you could contact petrolicious, sending them you wonderful shots. They would probably make a subject on your two four that is very interesting! I guess it's a 79'' model, I'm not sure because you don't get the side lenses, isn't it? I'm an 82' owner :)
Three bolts for the cover, one nut for the alternator which tensions the aux belt then one bolt for the timing belt tensioner and it comes off. Repeat in reverse and you‘re done.
@@OnlyARoadtripAway yeah after that comment I thought about it a bit more. I'm used to DOHC motors which makes timing a lot more complicated, especially on a non-inline motor. Beautiful films btw.
@@jealnoslyn Helps too that this motor is non-interference so no damage is done when the belt brakes or if the timing is a little bit off. One more thing that makes this such an intelligent choice for an adventure vehicle
Amazing as per usual ! Love the drone shots. Really your skills are superb. Also really surprised at how well the 924 performed ! Not that I know much about them tbh. ps Did Carlotta grow a beard ? 🤔
So it seems that 1 litre is non SI unit of volume equaling 1 dm3 and the distributors scaling has to be in SI units even though its the same. Useless knowledge at it’s finest:)
I have to admit, i prefer the George series, but dam, the true must be said, your videos are so great. I have to ask, do you have any filmmaker course?
Germany to Australia in a 924 maybe?
1dm3 is actually 1 liter :D

I had a 924 before and i always thought it was a interference motor so i was pretty surprised when he said it was fixed!
@@JorrisvdBerg the 924s with the 2.5 and the 944 lineup we're all interference
@@jacobbarnick8360 yeah that makes sense. Then i was misinformed.

Beautiful cinematography, stylish and magnificently executed. Thank you for sharing.

Everything.... just adore. WOW! Fantastic filming, as well.
It’s so cool that you were able to fix your 944 while on a long road trip like that.
That’s dope man.
The fact I planned ahead and HAD a timing belt says a bunch about me. I even brought headbolts and a gasket in case we had to do that in Russia. 😁😂
following your videos since the beginning, very inspiring! Now i'm thinking to do the same trip with my old Suzuki Samurai.
Oh , you have a suzuki ? you are good man .
The joys of none-interference engines and simple, easy to access covers.

Just fantastic, I enjoyed every minute of it thanks very much, when all this blows over I will look into one of the SAC events.
Incredible series, David. I'm not a fan of being cold, but the amazing beauty has me thinking that rally would be a whole lot of fun.
The algorithm just introduced me to your channel and I’m so glad that it did! 🎉😮❤
Amazing quality content
Sehr nice!
Your video and music are,...... are..... they're magical. I look forward to the next project.
Well done, congrats for a successful event etc etc but more importantly thanks for sowing some much needed joy into our lives.
Excellent adventure. Can’t wait for the next one.

What a great edition. A spectacular recording. Greetings from Spain
Can wait for everyone to see how great you are
Great adventure and great videos to show for it ! :D
I want to know how you installed a timing belt in 10 minutes.
I know right

Beautiful cinematography. Though I reckon George would not have had a problem with these roads 😂
Amazing that you got the timing right! Good show.
Awesome series! Loved it.
your video editing is amaing! nice style !
Wonderful series, very inspiring too. Keep up !
Great trip! Hoping for more footage from Poland, tho, but maybe next time! :D
greetings from PL ;)
Okay... The only thing I don't like is the rotated rev gauge... But I also want my own offroad Porsche 924 now!
Thank your for this. It was great 👍
Very good thank you
Hammer Serie!
Wow, great work on the editing and congratulations on finishing the trip.
I love the song in the end there, but i cant find it.. Who is the artist?
lmao and its not a belt...
...its a strap.

Amazing intro song, where i can find song like that?
Actually dm3 is litre:) Awesome footage as usual. Hope to see more of George though. Greetings from Poland
That's what I was thinking, but just assumed that I was wrong because I'm American! :-)
It is the same as litres, but why put it this way?!

greetings from lithuania!
Did you do anything to the engine to make sure it started in such cold temps?
Change the oil? Joke aside, what did people do in 1978?
How did the timing belt not ruin the engine? Amazing
Non-interference engine.
What is the song at 8:23 called?
I have to admit, i prefer the George series, but dam, the true must be said, your videos are so great. I have to ask, do you have any filmmaker course?
Amazing series. Love it. One question at the end you listed the Average Gas milage at 10.5...is that liters or gallons? Per mi or per KM?
10.5 l/100km incl. the heater which is plummed into the fuel tank.
No one in Europe knows what gallons are😀
Its always km and liters per 100km.
Yea...our backwards American ways need to catch up with the rest of the world.

Not really😀
Amazing trip, 10mins for the timming belt? 0_o
30 from breakage to running. ✌🏼

You have luck, this Engine doesn`t touch the pistons and the valves wenn the timing belt ripps off.

Dude, a cubic dm is a liter.
why pop up lights are always open?
Motor disconnected for style reasons. We also didn‘t want them freezing up, that wouldn‘t have been an issue though.
Wieviele Ersatzteile nehmt ihr mit?
Filter, Öl, Spurstangen + Köpfe, Radlager, Keilriemen, Zahnriemen, 8x Zündkerzen, Elektrik-Kit, Zylinderkopf-Dichtungssatz + Dehnschrauben.
Yeah, the 98 Octan was cheap at the time!
haha. average oil consumption :D
Bye
Like your videos. But what about good education? It is usefull around the world... decimetre señor
I was aware of the measurement, but never seen it used anywhere in this context.
