I suppose his retort would be that the cost of military intervention in those theaters would’ve been incomparable to a war to prevent Indian independence. Plus save for Malaya those conflicts occurred several years after the end of WWII so the British would have had a chance to recompose themselves and rebuff their war chest with American dollars.
