- Spirit Airlines offers a premium product named the "Big Front Seat" that is bookable for a small fee. I believe it offers amazing value for the price I paid, as it's 10x more comfortable than Spirit's coach seats. Of course, Spirit is an ultra-low-cost carrier, so the seat has no extra onboard perks, although their extensive menu is somewhat affordable.

I thought about getting the Big Front Seat on my trip report with Spirit, doesn't look like I missed out on much. Crazy about the fight, in my flight there was around 6 crying babies, it would of been full civil war if a fight broke out.

I'm happy you got to land from the north flying along the Strip instead of the normal landing from the east. It's stunning at night. I'm gonna binge some more now. Great review! You were there the day before I went back to work haha. Gate B32 is where AAL11 left from. UAL175 actually departed from gate C19 that day. UA was in the C terminal then. We no longer use the high B gates so our memorial for flight 11 was at gate B11 this year.

I was SUPPOSED to flight Spirit once from Islip to West Palm. The flight was $45 , so I figures lets give them a shot. The flight was at 12pm on a clear day, but the plane never arrived at the airport and the flight was cancelled at 6pm. I booked the 8pm flight on Southwest from Islip to West Palm. I will not be flying Spirit again.
I've traveled from Denver to Vegas several times. Now, I am a snob about my comfort so I've always booked the "Big" seat. I haven't ever had a bad experience and knew about the pricing. I've found that considering the cost I now will either fly Southwest or 1st class United for about $150 more.

I flew Spirit ONCE from TPA to ATL just to get out of the path of incoming Irma. For an hour and fifteen minutes flight: it was torture. The cramped seat (I'm 6'4") the packed plane, the hassle. I won't do it again. Way too stressful.
I'm just glad my day (or night) got alot less stressful when I got to my hotel in Atlanta. Lol
You’re not kidding, that jet bridge gap when boarding at BOS was huge, looked very scary and dangerous! That was something about the meltdown inflight over a crying baby and someone kicking the seat!
I can't wait to fly spirit in a month. I hope my flight is as entertaining as yours.
Flying with spirit is definitely the lowest cost.
You may have to pay for snacks but it’s definitely the biggest variety.
Use the bathroom in the airport before boarding. Bring headphones. Meditate a little before boarding. And you’ll survive spirit. And it’ll be worth it in the end cuz you save a literally a few hundred dollars.

Only time I ever flew Spirit was round trip between Atlantic City and Fort Myers last year. I got a skittles livery plane on the way down and a taxi cab livery on the way back. Definitely prefer the skittles livery!

Just bought my tickets for this summer on an Spirit A320 from Atlanta to Las Vegas, and decided to spoil myself with the Big Front Seat upgrade roundtrip. Cost $80 on the way there, and $101 on the way back. I've never had a flying experience that was totally hellish and uncomfortable, so I'm hoping the BFS will change that!

Ive been flying spirit for a while, and ive never had any major issues on any of my flights, The airplane is however "Bare Fare" their old slogan and you get what you pay for. I have sat in the "Big Front Seat" before and it was totally worth it and it made the trip easier. I think once spirit gets wifi in its fleet it would make trips better. the one thing i hate is when they advertise the credit card in the air. Comparted to other airlines you have to know how to travel with spirit, pack light, don't have multiple bags, just your one checked bag and "personal item". now 1 personal is truly ONE ITEM, ladies or gents if you have a purse , they will count the purse as a personal item. Overall I would give spirit a 6/10 just based on my flights I've had. No delays, no cancels, no problems with crew or plane, passengers and babies dont count.
I like how he said it’s disorganized cause I lost my job because how disorganized it was, TSA was able to get through several times... but anyways I did my time and I’mma take that experience that I gained to another airline

Great trip report ma man! I flew in 2D as well and as much as spirit is shitty the old Econ seats (same as the aircraft you were on) were 10x better than their non-existent trey tables/flat seats🙄

I know I’m in the minority on here, but I quite like Spirit. Perhaps I’m lucky just to never have had a bad experience. I tried the big front seat this week and loved it. It’s a ridiculous amount of legroom for what was still just a $250 5-hour flight. I guess if you just sleep on flights like me it might be okay that there isn’t any entertainment 😁
But the fight was iconic 🤣

I’ve been an Airline pilot for 13 years and those that say Delta this or Southwest that, don’t fly often enough to understand the business model here. You’re paying for a 5 hour flight across the United States and the only difference between those other airlines is WiFi, a seat that reclines 4 extra degrees, and stale pretzels + coke that are free. Otherwise pay $1,000 for first class on Delta or burn your credit miles etc. If you think the traveling public from airline to airline is that different you are mistaken. I’ve flown thousands of hours on every airline on the continent and each flight has there “special folks” on board. Oh and people Pee on the floor on AA, United, and Delta flights😂 just FYI.

Public transportation is what it is, whether airlines, motorcoach, or train. First Class in a pod will indeed give you a little more personal space than economy, but you're still travelling with strangers.

Never having flown Spirit,I can't say much about them but for what you paid to fly cross-country, even with the BFS, the fare is super cheap! Interesting how you remarked about how expensive inflight food is, yet you went ahead anyway with that muffin and Coke--that's in addition to your BOS terminal food purchase. Since Spirit ditched physical menus, if one does not have a smartphone such as you do,how does one order food? I enjoyed your 'at home' commentary about the argument behind you,your attire said 'East Hampton',which I believe is on the far end of Long Island,a pricey place to live. I'm assuming you flew DL ATL-BOS,had some connecting time at BOS before this Spirit flight--did you overnight at one of the Strip hotels?

FYI... Spirit Airlines also has A319 and A321 type of aircrafts and some with NEO's. Unfortunately, you flew on their older model aircraft. The newer aircrafts with the yellow livery is beautiful and modern. Sorry you didn't have a great experience.

I avoid Spirit like the plague. The Ryanair of the US. Low fares like that normally have people you don't necessarily want to be flying with on your flight (as you saw). I luckily don't have that problem with Southwest but I'd prefer to pay a premium to fly another airline like Delta.

If you can travel with nothing more than a decently sized bookbag or similar size bag, and can book well in advance and don't need flexible tickets, Spirit can often offer a huge price advantage over any of the other carriers flying the same route.

Spirit cancelled one of my flights. Ironically I was flying from Boston. They kept changing my flight time throughout the day. I think my original time was 7:30am. Spirit claimed that the flight would then leave at 1:30pm. When 1pm hit, it was changed to 4:30pm. When 4pm came around, it was changed to 6:30pm. Around 4:30pm, it was cancelled. I had to take Greyhound from Boston to Baltimore. I was not happy. Spirit offered me some airline credits which are so difficult to use, so I never did. That has been over a year ago and I refuse to fly with them anytime soon. Southwest for me.
So the whole bathroom floor was yellow just like Spirit lol
