I was out on track with a couple of C8 Corvettes in my Gen 1 R8 (S-Tronic DCT) and yeah my lap times were much faster too. The V8 models are going to be slower (especially in the manual) so it's more of a 'cult car' than the C8 which would have more performance. They're very peppy and great cars for quick bursts of speed or up and go down low, but they run out of legs way too easy. The Z06 seems to fix some of those issues, but then you're competing with the Huracan, 458 and some more expensive Mclarens.
Remarkable that it looks as good as it does so many years later. In person, it’s really just a gorgeous automobile. Making a car look aggressive and elegant at the same time is pretty special IMO.
That gated transmission must be awesome. I don't mind the transmission in my GT350 but it could use a short throw. How did the power feel in the GT350 as compared to the R8?
Honestly under 4K RPM the R8 feels like it has more torque. But that’s mainly down to the short gearing. The Shelby has LONG gearing so 60MPH pulls in 3rd feel pretty similar. Plus the R8 is 300lbs lighter. The 350 probably feels a little better in the top end from memory once you hit 7 or so
great review I also cross shopped the R8 gated vs GTS 4.0 chose the gts 4.0 in the end similar money for a brand new car with warranty vs a 10 year old car without warranty i also preferred the smaller size of the cayman, but here I am watching this video so I clearly still debate the choice

This is funny I'm moving to Florida want a convertible and looking at a Boxster GTS or C8 but then the R8 spyder came into play.
