Our 15 plate Leon Cupra 280 does around 32 mpg 40ish on the motorway. Our 14 plate DS3 Dsport Thp does 39ish & at least 45 mpg on a run. Ive heard much more for Thp as theres so many cars with variants of it, i know of someone in his 10 plate Cooper S & druven hard barely does 20ish & when not barely 30mog.
Sub 10k, go back to your roots please, affordable cars are what got your channel popular and I'm so bored of every upload being the price of a house deposit.
@alancrisp1582 Already got a bicycle, thanks. There's loads around under 10k, which are rapid enough to be fun and still economical... If you can afford 40k for a car, you're probably less bothered between the difference of 28mpg and 35mpg as you are if your budget is 10k. Try to be more accepting of the variety of people out there. They're not taking away from you seeing this video if your budget is 40k. They're not saying delete this video. Just making a request for something more useful for them. So chill your beans and get on with your life. Ta.
Edit: Almost forgot: 40.3mpg. The Pug just does that, I'm almost convinced the long term readout is broken, but the app tells me the exact route & cost of every journey and it adds up, I'm just a weirdly consistent driver 🤣 Sort of 7 down, 3 to go out of this list, in terms of my test drives! -1 on the basis I drove the petrol S4, not a diesel S5, but same beyond the engine, same again for only driving the V6 & V8 F-Types, not the I4 (because why bother!). +1 if you count the LS500h since it's a GS450h drivetrain with half a torque converter slapped on it 😄 Same as the LC, or at least I'm assuming it's that and not just the GS drivetrain as-is. Petrol Audi was a pleasant surprise, with the economy and sound both good enough that the diesel really is pointless in that case. The E53 was a real disappointment, I thought that would be my next car until I drove one, but as an IT analyst I would expect to lose my job for implementing tech that bad 🤔 Not just the touch buttons, but the infotainment and digital dash generally are an incoherent mess. To drive it was pretty good, but extremely similar to an S4 which is far superior as an overall experience, apart from the interior - the E53's quality was surprisingly good. I can find flaws with most cars though - the Panamera fuel economy is laughable, the Supra's interior is BMW's worst era (cheap plasticky crap) and the A110's seat position isn't adjustable which is silly. Any of these could be a good choice though really, it's just the S5 that I'd recommend as better than I'd expect. The E53 I could live which, I'd just need a month to get used to the tech (I really can't get over how annoyingly awful it is though, do better Mercedes).
JB, what's the deal with the cars on Autotrader that say it has a combined fuel economy of, for example, 62 MPG? Is that even possible? How accurate is it?
My XC90T8 is currently on 46mpg overall but I see 130mpg around town but also 20mpg when running on petrol only around town. Going to have a PHEV, then it has to plugged in otherwise you are carrying a heavy battery around for no benefit.
Under £15K please.

Hugely important in Europe. Gas in America is about half the price.
