What's your favorite way to cook eggs?
I can make eggs the way I want to
And I don't care if I'm right or wrong I don't care
Microwave in a bowl of water in 3 mins. It is actually nice :)
Fried in butter, over easy!
This is the fastest way to cook an egg.

Mashed hmmm .. boiled
It helps to filter out that very watery part of the egg white so you’re not left with those straggling swirly bits in your pot. They make cleaning harder at the end.
Between this Voiceover and a chainsaw cutting through a propane tank, I'll take the propane tank.
All that is required for a poached egg is water (at least 3” deep in pan) with vinegar brought to gentle bubble. Boiling point of water is 212 degrees. As long as it has that boiling temp, you can add 2 eggs at a time for no longer than 3 minutes. Remove with slotted spoon immediately and let it rest for about 15 secs before adding it to dish. I don’t know what they were thinking with swirling the water. That is more of a way to mess up the yolk or cause uneven texture on the egg white.
If you are bringing the egg directly from the fridge, it is better that way when adding to boiling water because it cooks the egg white surface, just like when you seer a steak or a roast. The remaining time will cook the rest of the egg white.
I think that the folks who presented this video are trying to cook like the chefs in bistros and fancy diners. Fast is not always best. Plus it’s not a race, no fancy moves required.
Mashed, great video! Enjoy your week!💯😀
“Eggs are only pennies each” 50 pennies where I’m from
Yes, according to this video I've been doing it all wrong all these years. But wait! I've almost always had a perfect outcome. Go figure!!!
☕🥚🍳🍞Looking good. Always a favorite.
This whole time I've been making poached eggs properly.
I had this kind of egg and toast breakfast all the time when I was young but i would add bacon and break into pieces to make like a pizza. I never been able to make poach myself and miss that breakfast. Now I might try again.
Eggs are good food. Great video Mashed!
I've never tried poached eggs before... I'm definitely going experiment with this. I'll let you know how we came out on my RUclips cooking channel.
You've never tried a poached egg and you've got a cooking channel 😂🤣😂
My folks kept hens for their eggs and you can test your eggs in a bowl of cold water. If they rise from the bottom they are not fresh but if they sit about at the bottom of the water they are totally fine. They rise because of the gas being produced in the egg when it is off.
Mashed, great video! Enjoy your Thursday!💯😍
Just watch Heston Blumenthal’s video and do as he does. Perfect poached egg every time.
Blumenthal heston
Well i've been doing those wrong lol😂
I Failed with 4 Eggs but after i Watched this i Hope i can do it Right..:)
Maybe try including metric measurements next time, not all viewers are from the US
1 inch = 2.54 centimeters;
3 inches = 7.62 centimeters
DuckDuckGo/Bing/Google are your friends.
@John Seba Just saying including the metric equivalent (which the rest of the wold uses) would be convenient and easier to be comprehended by the viewers.
It wouldn't be that hard including the units in the video, would it?
They used inches... everyone knows inches
I really hate these videos that tell me I have been cooking something the wrong way all this time ... I don't know about anyone else but this is how I have always poached eggs.
What else have i been doing wrong? Breathing
The most important thing, not mentioned here, is to use fresh eggs. The white won’t spread out and there’s no need to swirl the water. Professional kitchens don’t use vinegar and you shouldn’t need to. If the eggs aren’t fresh then swirl the water.
I've been doing it wrong? Well, that's just like, your opinion man.
This egg-ression will not stand, man.
I am the walrus.
I tried the swirling method and I got was egg flower soup (stringy, messy whites) with a yolk. What did I do wrong? Egg were fairly fresh. No worries though, my dogs volunteered to eat the mess ups. They love me trying to make poached eggs. LOL
Did you add vinegar to the water before poaching the egg? If not, maybe that's the reason. Vinegar helps speed up the coagulating process of the egg white to prevent it from forming ribbons.
I just wasted three eggs trying to poach them... Going back to fried, I guess.
I knew all of this and I still can't even poach eggs correctly -not even in an egg poacher. LOL
I'm not at a Restaurant where I'm paying money for the eggs or am I a chef so my style is my own
Of course you think we have
You dont need to swirl the water
:42 yeah not anymore!
I usually use white wine vinegar, but it's all the same really.
Mashed has non American viewers too. So it would be great if you guys use the standard metric system also with the genaral American weight/ temperature system.
I always pouched eggs this way so how am I doing it wrong?
unfortunately, you forgot to swirl the cooking water
Water?
Been doing it wrong my whole life.
Milk .
And toast for the egg.
A splash of lemon juice on the egg in the bowl just before you drop it in makes it tighten up, so yeah, you've been doing it wrong also lol.
Take 1/2 cup of cold water and pour it into a dish about 4 inches in diameter. Crack a single egg into the dish. Microwave for around 50 seconds more or less depending on your microwave. Perfect every time and so fast.
Uggghhh u see that dude’s cut finger. Ew
Not me I just plopped it in hot water I'll do better next time
i just use a silicone poacher dish and egg doesn't come out watery.
she never said for how long
2 minutes depending on how you like it
Lol using Jamie Oliver on a special conditioned cooking technique
No I haven't.
my mum did hers in milk & water 50 50
you making poched egg wrong this time too
How long should it cook duh?
not y’all in the comments genuinely upset because a video said you’re doing something “wrong”
*bow
After all that, never said for how long...
You should really strain these eggs before poaching them. Extra egg whites is unnecessary and messy.
i just love sunny side up but any egg recipe is life for me like oh myghost from www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/oh-my-ghost/list?title_no=31313
My boy clip asked, is 3 inches enough
Just get an egg poacher. Way easier
I’ve been making these since I was 12 years old💪🏼🏴 24 now
There are only 1000 different ways to poach an egg
You shouldn’t keep eggs in the fridge .
You said eggs are a penny each BUT it’s not about the money it’s about how much you are wasting
Why did you make a tutorial video on this while using tutorial videos about poached eggs as your footage for the tutorial video about poached eggs?
Put boiling water in a coffee mug and drop in your egg. Microwave for 50-60 seconds. DONE. 💅🏽
and yet again I have not been doing this wrong either....stop with the senseless put down titles, it's very childish.
swirling water completely unnecessary.....use 3 inches of water ma a little vinegar and pour them in from a dish when the water starts to bubble not boil....cook 3 mins perfect eggs every time
Lost me at the boiling water
0:37. well, this didn't age well. It's a little ominous to be honest. Look where we are now from the date of this video!
"eggs are only pennies each"?!?!?!? 2 years later and they're a almost $ each!!
Talks about the importance of swirling the water then shows rest of demonstration dropping eggs in not swirling water.
I would like to make this for my Mom, because it would make her EGG-STREMELY happy.🍳😋
Now to too me late people
This video did not show how to properly poach an egg if more than one egg was needed. The water is swirled and then you drop in the egg, what about the next egg? Right, if you try dropping in the next egg right after the first it doesn't work and you might mess up the first egg. I guess this video is suggesting that you need one pan for every egg - sure, that's just what we need to do. Fail!
So we've been cooking eggs all wrong for centuries. Pity you weren't around to explain to the Tuders how to cook in a microwave!
Muhahaa
Pennies each LOLOLOLOL member earlier in 2023 when eggs were about $1/egg?
I used to shoot wild chickens and steal their eggs to make poached eggs.
No quite right. Watch Alton Brown poach eggs.

Title: you've been breathing wrong this whole time.
Oh plz
Degrees Fahrenheit? Where are we, the middle ages?
Did they just use other RUclipsr videos to create their video? Lmao. Jamie Oliver, Gordon, food network....
What is this, 1980? Nothing new here. In fact, ATK has two videos that show better ways to poach eggs than this. Also, how much vinegar? This video doesn't say. Put a little to much and your poached eggs will taste like vinegar. If you want to see better ways to poach eggs, check out America's Test Kitchen's videos on the subject.
I am getting so tired of all you so called experts aka know it all's always saying we are doing everything wrong. I would rather hear, "new way of doing" or something like that. Just because you THINK your way is right does not make it so.
First
Sorry, but Heston does it way better 🤣🤣🤣
Such nonsense, I do exactly the opposite of this video and my poached eggs turn out great (video on my channel, lol!)
You've been writing bad sentences THIS WHOLE TIME.
Over sixty years of cooking and doing nothing right...
Oh wait Unsubscribe
Her bloody voice, i must say. I like the content. But i nv watch. Can't endure
You have been sending me notices WRONG THIS WHOLE TIME! Please put a little thought into your tag lines or... STOP IT!
