Thanks for this video! I was already thinking of returning my back up camera until I saw this video. It made total sense. Most of those Chinese android stereos come factory defaulted to some weird video output. Change it back to North American and bingo!

@@eazidiy Ah, mine was difficult to find the settings but I finally found it. I’m on android 12, I had to put the car into reverse, then press and hold the screen. A little cog appeared on the screen, clicked that and entered the code 0000 to get to the settings 🥵. It’s done now though, thanks! And thought I’d share for others

There should be settings to change reserve mirror. It is a tongle button, mirror on/off

Hi. Can you help me? My headunit radio supports ahd so I've bought ahd rear camera but it only works when SD(480) is chosen. When I choose AHD (720) then the display is distorted. Why?
The camera you bought is SD. Did you check the full description of the camera you bought? Maybe it was wrongly advertised.

I have installed mine and I can get a picture.
However after approximately 15 seconds, the camera shuts off and the Android head unit goes black for about 10 seconds.
Any idea what this could be please?
Check the connections of the reverse camera trigger in the trunk. Especially if you use cable connector to make your joints. Sometimes the cable connectors do not make proper connections and vibration of the cable makes the picture go off.
@eazidiy ok thank you. I did use those T-connectors so maybe that could be the issue.
Just a little bit confused as to why it would then temporarily trip out the Android head unit itself.

@M4TTFPV Try make a direct wire connections or use a blade to strip off the insulator before using the T-tap connectors.

I know this is old post, but im wondering how to fix a low voltage for the car. The back up camera works when its not running. But when you turn the engine ON, it will say NO SIGNAL. Simply the voltage drop. Need help please
It sounds like you have a wrong connection with your reverse camera

I installed the camera, but it feels like it's super zoomed in, is there anyway to re-size or zoom out a bit in any of the setting modes?
I am not sure if there any settings to zoom in or out of a reverse cam.
Quick question for u brother. I can’t enter my factory settings bc the screen is too zoomed in so the “ok” button after entering in the password isn’t popping up for me to go forward. How do i zoom out the screen so all the buttons show?

No! If your battery drains, you must have a wrong connection in the power harness.

Hi dear, I installed the camera and it works. However, unfortunately as I put the gear to reverse the Radar UI of the parking sensors hide the camera view, and only if I turn the parking sensors off the camera will show. I did all the setting in the right way, could it be a problem with the connection or is it pure software issue? Thanks

Would a 12v inline filter/rectifier fix the cyclowarp my camera is doing this to but when I change to pal or NTSC it makes no difference
Do you have a video settings named CVBS? Also, what is the resolution on your reverse camera? Yours may require to choose higher settings than NTSC or PAL. Always check to know the resolution of your camera.
Hi , when reversing my unit shows the left side rear view as the right side on my screen. And vice versa showing right on the left side. Any help ?
Check the setting that says reverse mirror, toggle it off. If not the settings, there is a green wire near the camera, cut it off.
I now have a black screen, since adding a backup camera. The screen briefly flashes when car started, but no display shows

Does your android unit have 2 camera inputs? Front and Rear camera inputs? It seems you plugged the camera feed into the wrong input. Please check your connections

You must find the settings to change the resolution of the camera to match the radio. Sometimes the settings is under video settings. Just look for it and check the manual for the radio.
I have now found it under factory settings problem solved 👍🏻
which is strange with this radio, when I use the turn signal it also turns on 😅

The turn signal feature is to assist you to see what is behind before making a turn.

Check your connection of the camera to the reverse light. There may be loose connections somewhere. If your camera has a light, check if the light come up when you put the car into reverse.

I have that exact head unit in a 2012 toyota highlander. I can't get my steering wheel controls to work.

I have a new Android 12 unit. I had to go to Cam Type (change to CVBS) and Cam Format (change to PAL). Each camera is different. I kept trying combinations of these two settings until one worked and was no longer scrambled. Also getting to factory settings was a bitch on the newer units. Go to Settings Car Infotainment About Device (scroll to bottom) then on top right there is another Settings icon, Insert code 8888, then "Backcar Setup, then you will find Cam type & Cam format. I installed the unit in my Ram in 15 minutes since I did it before, but finding the right camera setting took 1.5 hours.
Thank you for adding this helpful feedback. Depending on the Android radio, the camera settings are different. The key is to know what the resolution of the Camera is and match it with the one in the radio. Most people do not pay attention to the description of the camera resolution when buying online.

I wired up the camera correctly but when i put the car into reverse the home screen stays the same nothing happens at all only the camera goes on but the home screen shows!! What to do please help?!
Did you use a cable splitter for the connection? If yes, that may be the issue. Sometimes the splitter do not make contact with the wire inside. You may need to reconnect all wires without splitters.
Connection at the Reserve light of your car is crucial because if there is no signal to the Android radio to go into reserve mode, then it won't work.
there’s a small wire in the head unit that you have to connect to the back up camera wire, that will make the screen switch by itself, that might be the problem
My Rimoody head unit looks like yours and does the same gray flickering screen. But I have gone through the entire menu system, I don't have any settings for the reverse camera.
Put the camera into reverse. While in reserve with the camera displaying on the headunit, press and hold the screen. A setting dialog will show up. Check the camera settings.
My reverse camera & Android came together as a kid. The Android screen has NO settings to alter reverse camera signal type.

Different headunit, different location where it is placed. Check your factory settings. Something relating to Reserve Camera or Video settings

This method Doesn’t work always. When you start the car it will do the same in some cases. It works for me as well in idle mode but once i start the car, it scrambles. You need a pwm filter for it. Just wanted to share this info in case of.. but thnx
Hi, this method works 100%. You must know your radio and Backup camera display resolutions. Simply match them.
Unfortunately not bro im sorry. changing the screen output resolution for the camera doesn’t work for some cameras. You still need a straight 12v doe your rear light etc. But never mind. I received the filter today and after installation it worked😊

Hi there. Did it happen to anyone that the navigation had no video source/resolution settings?... I bought a 2gb32gb navigation from Mekede, the system info shows be the device as alps 8227l_demo. When entering the factory seetings, I have no options for video source. I also uploaded a video on my canal with this issue. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

My camera worked and then stopped and said reverse signal lost but then worked again idk wtf is wrong
Connection getting disconnected. Check the wiring connections in the trunk to the reverse light

What if the picture does not pop up when you reverse
Possible that the connections is not done properly. Check the wires contacts especially the one between reverse cam and reverse light.
Will the factory sd back camera work in an aftermarket android HU? Mine doesn’t work as I would like to retain the factory camera to the new aftermarket HU from china. My car is a 2016 holden trax 1.4L ltz fwd
Most times factory camera do not work with aftermarket headunit. You may need to wire aftermarket camera for the headunit

Goto your factory settings, then Backcar settings. There should be a 6158C_Vin3_Rear. Should that and make adjustment
Nu image is upside down
It must be your reverse camera installed upside down. There are 2 screws on the side of the bracket for the reverse camera. Remove the screens and flip the reverse camera.
Shaky video. Helpful but shaky.
