    It`s a very simple thing this audio jack has SPDIF , there are two kinds of audio jack there are only one switch but 2 different configuration one could be normally open or normally close , so if you plug in a jack it opens the switch or close it, putting the wrong jack the sound will not work the other connections is just ground left and right audio, You would need to run a surface scan to make sure the hdd is faulty S.M.A.R.T on the hdd some times will not detect all the faults

    Did you forget to re-connect the cooling fans? Or did you do a hard-reset/power-down before you started to work on the audio jack? That might trigger a hard disk integrity scan. That scan, combined with a timed full antivirus system scan will slow down the laptop to that amount.
    If that thing would be mine, I'd put an SSD in. But it is not mine, so, I would just let it do its thing and just let it run until everything calms down and then do a full defragmentation run. That should either improve the speed a bit, or it would finish off that hard disk if it's on its way out.

    I've the same laptop and I have a strange problem. Maybe you can help me with a suggestion.
    Easy ... I have 3 keys that don't work. Exactly 1, 1 on the numeric keypad and "o". Now you'll probably say "broken or dirty keyboard" ... Maybe it is, but in these two cases (which do NOT always work) the 3 keys temporarily return to work:
    1. if I press ANY other key and at the same time the not-working key, for example "p-o", it gives me "po", but only if the "o" I press it with my finger still on the "p". SHIFT + "o" works, or SHIFT + "1" gives me "!" correctly while to make the 1 of the keypad work, just press FN together. In short, the buttons ALONE doesn't work. They only work if pressed together with other keys ...
    In addiction, if I hold SHIFT + 1 and while getting some "!" I leave the pressure on the shift then it starts writing "1". Of course if I leave and repeat alone, it won't work! I hope I explained myself! :-D I realize that it is intricate but actually it's a strange problem.
    2. if I press several times, in a burst, after a while and not always, the keys are reactivated.
    If it were only 2 I would say that the keys are dirty or there is a false contact, but it is method 1 that makes me suspect there's a problem of a different type, not mechanical.
    What do you say?
    I point out that I have an external keyboard (Logitech) that helps me to get around the problem, which however could occur again when I use it outdoor... I can't even bring the external keyboard with me, can I? :-)
    Thank you.

    Probably hdd going bad but sometimes not getting good cooling for the hdd will cause windows to downgrade speeds. Can try to uninstall it from device manager and reinstall it by 'Search for new hardware'. I can't remember if it was the hdd or the hdd controller that was fixing this issue. I remember ULTRA DMA mode would go from 5 down to 1 or 0 when you leave it on the bed and gets too hot and would not get restored when u restart laptop cold, kind of remembers the new lowest speed setting.

    The 100% you see in Task Manager doesn't mean the HDD is operating at full speed, it means it's being accessed 100% of the time. The fact that you see slow speeds only means that the system is trying to read a lot of small files scattered all around the drive - by having to jump so much, speeds fall down a lot. Nothing wrong with the drive, besides the fact that it's getting hammered by so many jobs to do at once.

      I understand you do something like this with screen hinges, because the price of a full cases with hinges is too high, or it might be not even possible to buy the case. But an audio connector is cheap. And if you look well enough you can find one, as some people have shown in the comments.

    • @em0_tion
      @em0_tion 4 года назад +1

      @@kriswillems5661 Yep, i totally agree. Plus, if you know a fine jewelry shop in your town, you can probably find a pretty good deal by paying them to WELD those hinges. I'd choose solid metal to metal connection any day of the week, if given the choice. Rest is more or less ok to be hotglued :) But hey, i do realize there are very poor people and every clever idea counts, so, can't really blame Sorin personally, it's not even his business, so i'm really sharing my opinion rather than judging. Even if it's what (not/) to do, at least he's sharing new things every time :)

    • @em0_tion

      Yep, same way i always find those online or with the laptop's model number. If the client is in a hurry, i would order 5 jacks of those so i have this model in stock and then offer him to switch the broken headphone jack with the working microphone one (if identical ofc) as a temporary fix until the part arrives or to buy a cheap external USB sound card with an audio in and out ports on it. Much better than using an old worn-out port that is barely held by a bit of silicone and those thin wires... Since the customer managed to brake such a strong port once, i can't trust this weak repair to hold for a long time in his hands. Knowing i'll have an original jack in stock the next time he comes around for the same job will really put me at ease.

    If this is from the same year mine was built i can understand the frustrations .. I was really disappointed with asus for following the same trend as msi when in regards to stuff like this. First my cooler isnt good enough to cool the cpu on some newer games without thermal throttling, It only came with 8 gb of drr4 2400 and found out it was soldered right to the board .. so i only could add one extra stick of ddr4 memory, the thermal paste they used was complete garbage and over done spilling out on the chip pcbs themselves, and the board itself has a hidden clamp on the side of the case .. so if you knew not to pry it out, You would've broken the board in half. mine only came with a 1 tb hdd as well .. for the price of it i would've thought it had a ssd for OS. If i was buying it for the mobile factor i would not have looked at it in the first place.

  • @draganostojic4120

    Hi, I have MSI GE72 6QD, i7 6700HQ processor, gtx 960M graphics. For last 2 months I've noticet that whole laptop started to overheat, from ssd to processor even when laptop is idle, cooling paste is not problem it was changed regularly. Few days ago it wouldn't turn on and after few days without power it started again normaly but overheating was here again and after next shutdown it wont start again. I've checked power supply units around processor and graphics and there seems to be a short circuit around them but I don't have power supply to check further. Does anybody have an idea what could be wrong or had a similar problem?P. S. Laptop was used mostly for 3D cad modeling, not gaming

    is there an easy way to fix the bios on a dell e5440 wich i can't enter the bios or boot options

    • @em0_tion
      @em0_tion 4 года назад

      What are you trying to fix exactly?

      @@em0_tion my laptop dell latitude e5440 suddenly turning on after i shutdown completely then it won't even post it goes to diagnose and every thing is fine but when diagnose is finished it restarts and then black screen , i can't enter the bios i cant do any thing just black screen

    • @em0_tion
      @em0_tion 4 года назад +1

      @@phantom3474 If it goes to self-diagnostic mode, it pretty much sounds like everything is ok with the BIOS itself, but something is going wrong in the POST process, otherwise it has no logical reason to self-provoke this sequence. Some laptops' BIOS is setup for Win8 and 10's FastBoot feature, meaning if this feature in BIOS is enabled, the POST will skip the "Enter BIOS (F2)" and "Boot Device Order (F12)" check for commands and it will straight up go for the fastest Windows boot possible. If that's the case, i would take the battery out, i would put a CD/DVD inside the DVD drive and restart the laptop while pumping the F2 button. The POST will slow down while waiting for the slow-ass DVD drive spin-up and that should give you enough time so that the machine registers your F2 input. As for the black screen, i'm guessing it can't find its OS or the hard drive it's on. Dirty connection or a damaged hard drive could make it act in a similar way. But so can a faulty/dirty RAM or many other issues. I would suggest carefully cleaning & re-seating the HDD and RAM connectors and their slots with rubbing alcohol (with the charger and battery out ofc) - RAM pins with a Q-tip, HDD connector with painting or tooth brush. Also, you can watch what happens if you leave the HDD outside the laptop entirely. Hope that helps for first steps. Let us know how it goes :)

    • @phantom3474
      @phantom3474 4 года назад +1

      @@em0_tion thanks very much that's seems so helpful I believe it's a hardware issue because i was able to go to diagnose like you said and maybe I'll clean the ram slots and the hdd conector , although I'm already using the hdd on my pc and it works just fine :) so it must be the ram ..so thank u for help ♥

    This one is a head-scratcher - this is odd by all means - cutting the motherboard but you have to- hope you had a good weekend - needs to be defragged - it was a disk hard drive - it also needs 1 more ram chip and that would speed it up - you should have sold him/her another stick of ram for that laptop if you have any - make a little more money

    Even in Gaming laptops, there is cheap, medium and high range. So probably that was a cheap MSI Gaming laptop under $1.000. Also, there is no SSD M2 apparently, normal HDD and no DVD, so probably the cheapest one

      ha ha ha, I can see where Sorin comes from? He comes from a place where you fix things by any means, and its regarded as ' a fix' ,not a bodge. Just as satisfying and the outcome exactly the same as if done by the textbook. Make what you will of it? But unless its real shoddy work and unsafe i say.....Well done and crack on to the next broken electronics.

    Sorry Sprint, this is the very first dislike I have posted for one of your video jobs. Due to the fact that the replacement jack can be had for a reasonable price, this was bizarre fix, especially when it is a fairly high end laptop.

    Gweez what a simple boring jog eh? Glad all my jobs are complicated and interesting.. (I am retired by the way and only fish in the summer for a job) I thought those gamey guys had headphones with microphones on them to? At least that is what I see in the movies.. What about a little sandpaper on the outside of the plug itself.. you just need a bit .. a little sand paper and a touch of super glue..ok I will say it.. "ouch!" hot glue hot glue.. why do you guys always use hot glue? it's gewie and messy and gets all over the place.. a touch of superglue and your done.. no muss no fuss.. oops maybe hot glue is better.. (sounds like that women wants to fight in the background) man I would not last long having to deal with the public.. You guys there are truly something special.. dang your hungry.. I have watched this whole thing and I am too... laptops.. no room and to slow.. I love it once a problem solver always a problem solver.. he just can't put this thing to bed.. For those of you that followed for 2 hours how many time did he say he was done in the last 30 minutes? the job was done in an hour and 17 min.. Ah.. the master at work! enlightening.. great work ethic!
