It's not as cheap as a switch or switch 2 but man it can do so much more game pass, emulation, and if u got the windows version PC word, web browser, and also it will play PC games
I think you underestimate the power of the Nintendo brand. They don't need to compete with these handhelds. In fact they are not competing with them based on sales. The market for handheld PC's is relatively small and that's not without reason. First of all, people don't but Nintendo Hardware for gaming power and performance. They but Nintendo hardware mainly because of Mario, Pokemon and Zelda. And if they can deliver new Mario, Pokemon and Zelda games that looks even better and cooler than what they did on the Switch then that will be enough for most fans to buy the system. The second reason why most people don't buy these PC handhelds (or android handhelds) comes down to the OS and user experience. Most of these devices don't come with something like SteamOS installed. For a handheld you just wanna pick it up and start gaming within seconds, not wait for launchers to load and mess around with mouse cursors and stuff (especially when on a shaky bus or train for example). This is where a gaming dedicated OS is really desirable. Third reason is that these devices are usually bulky and have poor battery life when running them at high power (And the high performance is why you would get these I suppose) So the way I see these handhelds are more as a hobbyist device for people who just want to push graphics as much as possible on a handheld (sacrificing convenience and user experience) This might change a bit the day Microsoft decides to allow you to install an Xbox OS on any PC turning any and all PC's into Xboxes. Or when Valve allows you to install SteamDeck OS on any PC. But even then I don't think Nintendo needs to worry because they still have their games and people are more than happy to overpay a bit for the hardware in order to play those games.

What many people will want to know is how Nintendo will respond to these portable gaming PCs. Will Nintendo sell multiple SKUs, will they have a higher than expected price or will they have the price low but keep the specs high... It certainly is going to be an interesting few months.
Every single portable PC on the market put together aren't anywhere near competitive with Nintendo's market sales. It's just not at all reasonable when tons of Nintendo buyers are not serious gamers who do it as a main hobby. Many do it as a activity they occasionally enjoy with their families. I have had multiple PC handhelds. I also have a gaming PC. I worked on multiple VR headset releases. I would NEVER buy a PC handheld for my kid or family as a family gaming system. It sounds like hell. Do you know how many things can go wrong when someone goes tinkering in settings? I'm not running IT for them! I want the family stuff quick easy and simple. I am not putting any additional effort into the experience beyond turning it on and popping in a game. At some point the cost savings with PC gaming aren't enough to compensate for the time lost screwing around with it.
I argue there are two different customer bases for the new Switch versus a handheld PC. For instance I’d never buy my wife a Steam Deck even though she loves her Switch. She would have zero interest in tinkering graphical settings and setting up Proton for unsupported games.

They get the most out of the console and have the best support.
I’m certain we’re gonna see more and more of these as Sony and Microsoft start trying to push their way in but I feel like Nintendo has the best chance to really move the needle. I guess we’ll see but honestly, I think anything that can stick around the $399 to $499 price has the best chance. Anything above that you may as well just get it straight up non-portable PC.
The appeal of Nintendo is games that you can't play anywhere else
Officially anyway
Says who.
Except you can. There is also a lot more to like about Nintendo's games than the fact they are locked to obsolete hardware.
That appeal died 8 years ago lol. Nobody cares about Nintendo exclusives.
@@gamingadept4322 lol, sure. Except millions of people and the second best selling console of all time. Besides all those people nobody cares about Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Kirby, Smash Bros, Mario Kart... bunch of dead franchises.
I'm so sick and tired of all the handhelds. When will it end?
Hopefully not soon. Nintendo needs to realize there’s a market for more than just family friendly 2010 era style games that switch has to offer.
Nice but I’m still waiting for the Switch 2. These handhelds are nice but not for me after all.
I am concerned about x86 handhelds because ARM may be in the works (superior battery life + comparable performance). I think this generation is a skip for me because my ROG Ally is cheap and really good for not cutting edge games. I may upgrade once ARM to x86 devices become more relevant.
Doesn't matter these pc handhelds are not that popular compared to a Nintendo or psp
