For those worried about the dogs aggression. Shibas are instinctively very territorial and pretty mean dogs so the aggressive growling is just kind of their default way of showing minor discomfort. It's not intentional aggression though just a shiba being a shiba.
You're making poor excuses. Dogs become aggressive when they're in pain, feel anxious, fear or frustration, or as a sign of vigilance/dominance (being overly protective, or guarding a resource). If a breed is prone to be aggressive, it just means the owner has to work even harder to train and dicipline them, so they can understand their place in the family. It's not to be regarded as healthy behavior. This dog I think is feeling very anxious, very unsure of it's place in the household, the owner does not seem able to communicate with the dog, Kenji does not trust their owner. I see signs of this not just in this video, look at him running around all over the place in other videos. Clear signs of anxiety. Kenji needs to be exercised more, trained more, and needs their dominance/hypervigilance worked on, so that Kenji can be a calm, happy dog.
Fun fact - the little sneeze Kenji does after growling is to show that he's not really being aggressive. Dogs do the same when they're play fighting too. So cute :)

Mild warning from a fellow doggo owner that had a Podenco rescue do THIS to her. :D This is likely due to the ends of the brush feeling very uncomfortable for him since it reaches his skin (usually with brushes that have no rubber/plastic knobs on the wire-ends). Or he may have a skin condition (tho i doubt that as he doesn't seem sensitive to touch otherwise.) So yeah, this isn't aggressive behavior per se, but he might bite you one day if he feels too irritated. I had to learn the hard way with our Podenco lady and she was an utterly sweet thing otherwise too, so: dog owners beware of them scratchy brushes!
Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think shiba's do have very thick and shedding fur, I've only seen podenco's on pictures and as a mix with other dogs but I think they have a somewhat thinner fur than shiba's. The angled wire-like brush teeth help a lot with reaching the thick fluff and help with deshedding, iirc. So maybe that's why he's using that type! I own a very fluffy shepherd dog and we usually use a rubber brush and he still acts like this, some dogs just don't like to be brushed!
@@kyrakyra_art Our girl had similar thick fur since she had an undercoat unlike a pure Podenco (she might have had some sort of nordic breed in her, not husky maybe, but definitely something of the sort to achieve her anatomy and coat). But even with dogs that have thick fur it always depends on the length, since Shiba's have fur that is more on the short side and not even medium, it's easy for these brushes to still feel uncomfortable. That's why it's important to find a good length when it comes to the curved wires on the brush. In an ideal case they shouldn't touch the skin and just 'scratch' the loose hair out of the pelt. Oh, I love fluffy shepherds!

@@violette2139 Likely so. As I said, Shiba fur is not long enough for the scratchy brush to NOT touch the skin. So it's likely he really dislikes the feeling.
