Needed this episode to begin to turn the page on the gut punch that was the last 8 quarters of football. Cheers to you guys and all of the Skoldiers out there!
Someone should ask KOC what his philosophy is regarding the slant pattern considering that it is a staple of the West Coast Offense but it isn't a part of the Vikings offense.
and a more stable playcaller, plans go out the window when the vikes get down in points and koc only looks for the big chunk plays as of lately. It needs to be changed and not just said "I gotta do better"
@PHIL and @DEX I saw you smirk at 17:43 when Judd said to stop making TC trying to happen - I also thought about "making Fetch happen", so you're not alone 😂😂😂
Jordan Mason would be a powerful back who runs the McVay/Shanahan system. Defensive free agents that could be great: Poona Ford/Teair Tart (big bodies), Osa Odighizuwa (pass rush DT), Charvarious Ward (CB).
Jordan Mason wouldn't be bad at all... filled in pretty admirably for CMC...I wouldn't be upset at that move at all... and agree with another back in this yrs deep RB class to compliment
This whole season was all gravy. Again none of us ever thought we would win 14 games JJ is coming into a great team and great infrastructure. The future is bright.
RB Jaylen Warren (Steelers) will be a restricted free agent this offseason. He's been the Steelers RB2 but has looked really good when he's in. Could be worth a look!
Regarding the IOL, I am curious what they think of Michael Jurgens. He has been active for a portion of this year, so I wonder if they view him as a backup to Bradbury and could potentially step in next season
As a cowboys fan, Rico Dowdle definitely is a quality running back, but he’s best used as a volume back, doesn’t produce a whole lot when he is splitting carries. Reason for his low rushing TD rate is because we simply turned the ball over a lot in the red zone and just didn’t call great red zone plays and committed a lot of penalties. He did have 3 receiving touchdowns to supplement that though. He’s really good with running screens. The reason for him only getting touches this year is because he was injury prone his first 2-3 seasons with the cowboys, so that is something to look out for, although he stayed relatively healthy this year.
My thoughts on the season is despite how it went down it was fun. The team has allot of holes, the reason for the 14 wins is great coaching. I'm still giving KOC coach of the year, and Kwesi gets my vote for executive of the year. Give JJ the keys to the offense
When are we gonna talk about the elephant in the room? This gm’s drafts are setting us back. He can’t draft to save his life nor can he operate any trades without getting completely fleeced.. I mean this dude gave up more for Dallas Turner than what he got back from trading pick 12 all the way to pick 32 in the 2022 draft. He’s bad with draft selections and he’s bad with draft compensation. That’s a recipe for disaster and that’s what it’s been so far. He is by far the worst GM in the nfl and can only sign already developed talent in free agency (which is not how you build a team).
@ glad someone agrees. Theres a lot of talent to be had out there in draft and we’ve missed out on it for 3 years in a row soon to be 4… How much longer will it take for this guy to get canned?
Dowdle would be a good fit imo, I also like Najee Harris he still has a lot of tread on the tires as he shared carries with Brian Robinson his Junior and Senior seasons in college.
Why are we talking about adding fringe backup RBs? Rico Dowdle doesn't FIX our RB situation. We need dynamism and power. A guy who 21st in PFF grade & 24th in Y/A & 27th in BTkl doesn't move the needle.
@ajred8870 and you can find his level of skill for a league min contract or as a UDFA. So, again, why are we talking about him the day after the season ended??? Phil & Judd understood the assignment. Declan did not.
Though I saw RUclips thing saying three first round picks for JJ McCarthy that would be intriguing but I want to see him play for the Vikings but if somebody offered them three first round picks one being the number one pick that would be intriguing
Take a play out of Secret Squirrels playbook. Buff the offensive and defensive lines. Upgrading both of those units masks a ton of issues on both Offense and Defense. Specifically boosting the interior of both. Then I look at upgrading the CB room. We could bring back Murphy Jr. and then look to sign some quality guys. Nothing crazy. Last I look for running back and some versatile defenders. Edit: I want some guys with attitude on both sides of the line.
I would like someone to ask the opinion of Boone or Sirles on where Cam Robinson was lining up last night? He was so far back it looked like. The edge got a running start before contact
If the Vikings were smart they would replace both guards and the center then get a DT and 2 CB. I would go after Trey Smith and Meki Becktan for Guards. Then go after Dahlman center from Falcons. For defense get DJ Reed CB Jets and get the Eagles DT Milton Williams. Also bring back Brain Murphy CB and maybe Cam Bynum
@jeffaltier5582 I never said sign all those guys. Just guys they should target. Getting 3 of those guys would be huge. You could probably get Trey Smith for around 20, Becktan for around 15 and Dalhmen around 10. I doubt they sign Trey. So 25 mil for 2 guys to revamp the Oline. Then Reed will be around 12 mil and that DT around 15. So another 27 mil. So roughly 50 mil out of that 80 ish we have. That leaves plenty to resign our own guys and draft picks. They could also tack on void yrs and get most of those guys too. So not sure where your comment is justified, unless your trolling or you don't have a clue how teams operate their cap space. Eitherway it's these types of comments that make it pointless to even comment.....
We are definitely gonna eat a chunk signing our safeties back, whether it’s Smith, Bynum, Theo Jackson. Must sign Murphy, him and Blackmon will be our DB base. Then G/C must be addressed. You could sign 1 safety and move Matellus back to full time safety and maybe Harry stays on very team friendly deal. I honestly think you keep Matellus and Bynum together. They are boys and anchor our defense together.
Oh God, Judd is back to Kwesi’s fault. Kwesi inherited Bradbury and no guards. No cap room. I would like more size on the interior OL. Upgrade whole interior with mid-level fre agents. Would still be upgrade, but leave room for a lot of quality depth in other places as well
Ezra Cleveland is a stout LG for Jacksonville. Kwesi gave him away for a 6th round draft choice. And Kwesi decided to keep the dumber, shorter, weaker, slower, less athletic, and less experienced [but only 9 months younger!] Ed Ingram.
@nedcassley5169I don't know if I'd call the 52nd ranked guard by PFF a "stout" guard. But I think Kwesi and the front office looked ahead to this season and saw the potential free agents for the IOL this season and wanted to pursue them for the long term. And a RT. And even started some games at LT. If they had gotten rid of Ingram and kept Cleveland and Risner and Brandel, would they have had no RG?
@grantlicari6393 Cleveland was the highest rated guard in pass-blocking early in the season and he's better at run-blocking. He's bigger, stronger, faster, quicker, more explosive, and smarter than the slightly younger Ingram. He came into the NFL much younger than Ingram and had to learn a new position after Darrisaw joined the team. There was very little continuity and he was flanked by a weak Center and an oft-injured LT, and had to block for an old, slow statue who was easy to bring down. Jacksonville is thrilled with the fleecing.
Gotta get picks somehow. Can't feed everyone. We saw that first hand. It's only a matter of time before Jefferson starts complaining about not winning, and wants out. Might as well move on from one of them and get something in return. Free 3 has already been unhappy with his role. Move em while you can get something for him.

I think on the offense of line your first and most desperate need is the waste of money center we've had for the past 5 years. He's a mediocre run blocker and a horrid pass blocker... Will Hernandez would be a nice pickup for right guard and he wouldn't break the bank. You could even keep Risner then and not spend all of the cap space.
2 interior offensive linemen, 2 secondary, one Nose Tackle, Running Back. Hopefully quality players Darnold would limit the amount of money to spend on these positions so franchising and trading to get more draft choices to get a competitive roster.
Agree with you on everything but Darnald probably wouldn't get much in draft picks. Also the mental cost of him gone and it being McCarthy team is worth him just gone.
@@matthewlenzmeier9859 The worry would be that Darnold would sign the franchise tag and then you would be stuck with him at $40million for one year and I am pretty sure you can't trade him then. If he would agree not to sign the franchise tag if you got an early third round pick it would be better than a late third compensation pick.
You can say what you want about revamping the O Line but the real question is not who your going to get it’s who are you getting rid of and I’m talking about in the organization not necessarily a player this has been an issue too long someone needs to be held accountable for the O Line issues
I’m for rookke running back, DB, OL, and good playing calling offensive coordinator. O’Connell should not call plays and just do pep talks and talks with the press. Cheers!

The best part of the offseason is talking free agency and the draft!
How many picks you got? Did you know Detroit has almost just as much cap space and they dont lose starters unlike your sad Vikes? RIP lulz

Jordan Mason looks Derrick Henry but with some more juice and better hands (albeit less bruising)... I'd love to grab him.
Same here. And I don’t think he would cost much. Maybe 5 mil a year? Could pair him up with a quicker, twitchier back in the draft.

Get Trey Smith no matter the price tag.
What i don't understand is how come Zim or koc didn't follow the blue print of start with the trenches first 🤔 😕
I think Zim and KOC had to contend with Cousins contract taking up lot cap. Zim always wanted defensive players and KOC wanted wide receivers.
Damn I needed this content definitely took away some of the sting from last night! SKOL
16:00 no, no and no. Drafting a rb is cheaper. That guy couldn't run with one of the best O line in the nfl. NOOOOO.

2025 let's go! 2024 was a fun ride, but going into this season, my sights were always on 2025.
JJ to JJ
Can we get a full episode that goes through the entire offseason process like we have had in the past?
A DT who can get pressures up the middle is essential, it can help cover for secondary blushes
You definitely need to sign someone that’s decent and then draft one with the first round pick
1000%
Get an O line or JJ McCarthy is going to get blasted and hurt fast and then we still don’t have a Young freshly drafted quarterback

Draft Ashton Jeanty or Cam Skattebo and beef up the trenches
Cam skattebo will make you feel tackling him, might be a tad slow though
Draft or FA: Build the O line for JJ. I don’t care if it’s expensive.
We need wide receiver that can beat press coverage.
But I think KOC put it out there about the old line puts pressure on GM to get it done
Not a strip sack but the NFL needs to change the intentional grounding rule for sure.
Sometimes you need to cut the caller waaayyyy shorter!!!
RB has to be found in the draft. Hampton or Johnson are big physical backs that are worth a late 1st
Just make sure they work Tuesdays. Working tuesdays wins playoff games and Superbowls😊
The draft is loaded with top quality RB's, no need to sign one.
Whatever happened to Thor's Dwayne Mcbride? he raved about this guy coming out of college. Skol!
@18:23 spend on gaurds in free agency and use that 1st rd pick on RB or DB
My three (in addition to Cam Bynum and Byron Murphy): James Daniels, Teven Jenkins, Asante Samuel.
I think Judd was right. KOC was calling out KAM/owners about the interior offensive line far more than calling out his players. That is not his style.
Dowdle would be a good fit imo, I also like Najee Harris he still has a lot of tread on the tires as he shared carries with Brian Robinson his Junior and Senior seasons in college.
Mackie and Jeff 🤣🤣🤣
We need toughness on both sides of the trenches and at RB
Trade Hockenson, just not worth the money he is being paid
i'd trade hock before i traded addison
You'd get more for Addison though.
We need a guard possibly a center, running back and dl
