Elite quarterbacks scramble when the pocket collapses. Sam Darnold just stood there 99% of the time. He's not elite and all it took to see that is the eye test.
Make no mistake he had a great year but falling flat on your face like he did when the pressure is highest shows how elite you are or are not especially in this league.
The frustration comes when he was making elite throws against a good Seattle defense on the road one of which was a comeback game winner bouncing around the pocket before bombing it to Jefferson in a tight window and a week later he just reverts back to his jets way.
If you pay Darnold more than $30m, you are nuts. He is good enough, but these salaries are way too inflated, you need to be able to pay the rest of the team too

All 3 of those guys aren’t really typical journeyman QBs bc all 3 were franchise guys and on 1 team for longer than 2-3 seasons and didn’t start bouncing around until the very end of their careers, Journeyman QBs are guys that are on a team for 2-3 years max before going elsewhere like Ryan Fitzpatrick, outside of the 4 years with the Bills he was only on a team for 2 years at most, another example of a journeyman is Josh McCown, outside of his first 4 years on the Cardinals he was only on a team for 2 years at most before bouncing around to another team, a more recent QB that fits this journeyman is Darnold but there’s a good chance a team signs him to a 3-5 year deal after this year another recent example would be Josh Dobbs who’s been on the move after the Steelers got rid of him, Minshew is also looking to be a journeyman guy too
Bro Flacco is tied with Tom Brady for most road playoff wins all time and threw 11 TD, 0 INT on the way to a SB win in 2012. Don't compare Sam Darnold to the legend Joe Flacco.

My biggest concern is why he's hanging onto the ball for so long. I've got to believe that KOC has been telling him all season that he has to get the ball out quicker. That leaves us with a few possibilities: 1) I'm wrong, and KOC hasn't told Darnold to get the ball out quicker. In fact, maybe he's telling him to wait for the big play to develop. This feels unlikely. 2) KOC has been telling Darnold to get the ball out sooner, but Darnold's a stubborn SOB and doesn't listen. Also seems unlikely.. 3) Darnold is trying to get the ball out sooner, but there's some kind of mental block -- getting fixated on a single receiver, poor processing speed, etc -- that's keeping him from doing that. This seems the most likely. It's frustrating because it seems like such a simple fix in theory -- just draw up some quick hitters! Get that ball out sooner! But if Darnold has an issue with processing speed, there isn't an easy fix.

Darnold had more wins in his first season as Viking than Jared Goff had in his first 2 years with the Lions. Goff went 2-15 and 9-8 in Detroit and folks wanted him gone, meanwhile Stafford won a SB in his first season with the Rams. Sam had a really bad finish, but things can change, and on March 10th he'll be the same age as Justin Herbert who also had a bad playoff game and is now 0-2 in the playoffs. Folks just overreact.
Will Dak, Cousins , Herbert will be starters next season ? How are they better than Sam Darnold . All of them get paid several times more money than Sam. Not defending Sam darnold and I’m not a Vikings fan either but we hype player too early and then criticize them if they fail .
Funny how current and former Detroit Lions QBs were the only ones to beat the Vikings this season and in back to back games to end the Vikings season. Go Lions!
Sam lost Millions of dollars by dropping these last two games... 35 million per year does seem possible because of the competitive bidding situation. He's done in Minnesota, unless they tag him. Maybe they tag Danny Dimes instead? I got the sense that this is a culture problem in Minnesota, not raising their game to a playoff crescendo, it came off like the Lions and then the Rams, just simply wanted it more.
The outcome of the Vikings - Rams game exposed problems on the Vikings team that go to more than Darnold's under performance - While his performance was less than stellar, with the constant infiltration of their backfield, any QB's performance would be subject to criticism and I'd also be looking at their O line play for a major part of the blame... I believe that his play revealed that maybe he's not upper tier but also that he's not as bad as the outcome would want you to believe.
The same people that said Brock Purdy isn't worth big money. Rode the Suckie Sammy train all year long. I'd give Brock the cash in an instant over soft Sam. Peace.
After those games, No. 😢The old Sam is back. Looks like a deer in headlights when the lights are bright in big moments. 4th team back to being a backup.
Check out some of the guys who started this year and then tell me Darnold won't be a starter next year. Remember that Watson is going to make 72 million next year and won't play a single down.
It wasn’t even his fault, the offensive line was non existent and the offensive coordinator made no changes from the game they lost earlier in the year to the Rams.
You go with JJ unless it is a team friendly deal 100%, they signed danny dimes just in case of this situation so they have leverage and JJ needs more time.
Nobody brings up that on most of those routes, Darnold throws to a spot. Watch the routes Justin Jefferson has been running. They aren’t sharp and there’s very few times where he gets separation at the point of the read. Darnold is starting caliber for sure.
The Lions had the Vikings number. The Vikings coaching staff let the Rams dial it in. No adjustments were made. Allowing the Rams to do essentially the same thing the Lions did. Not on Sam. Not on the team. In regards to where he ends up? Seahawks?

Vikings were only thought to get 7 wins, they have a ton of cap space, next year could be interesting with who is under contract.
I got the sense that this is a culture problem in Minnesota, not raising their game to a playoff crescendo, it came off like the Lions and then the Rams, just simply wanted it more.
hes gonna be laughably bad without a super team around him lol, steelers would be an absolute distaster
Doesn’t a franchise tag make sense for him while they see what McCarthy can do?
Lions and Rams looking at the Vikings saying.. "different, but same same."
Peace.
Fields
S Sanders
Cam Ward
That’s it. That’s what QB needy teams have to pick from.
Aaron Rodgers 😂😂😂
A wild Smitty!
@@brockduncan2269yeah buddy
As a steeler fan tone diggs advocating for sam darnold is just criminal!! DONT DO IT
He’s obviously still a starting QB in the league
After those games, No. 😢The old Sam is back. Looks like a deer in headlights when the lights are bright in big moments. 4th team back to being a backup.
That was the most embarrassing 14 win season ending I’ve ever seen
Against the cap, that's still just under 1/3 of Dak's salary.
If Jordan love and Justin Herbert can get $50 million + then Sam Darnold deserves to get paid
Darnold was throwing behind his receivers most of the game, especially on that TD drive. Hes off
Check out some of the guys who started this year and then tell me Darnold won't be a starter next year. Remember that Watson is going to make 72 million next year and won't play a single down.
It wasn’t even his fault, the offensive line was non existent and the offensive coordinator made no changes from the game they lost earlier in the year to the Rams.
Darnold to the Seahawks
Joe Milton he is the guy to go after.
Is Adam going through transition???
You go with JJ unless it is a team friendly deal 100%, they signed danny dimes just in case of this situation so they have leverage and JJ needs more time.
Steelers QB room next year Sam, Fields, and Jalen Milroe??
70 million in cap space
Nobody brings up that on most of those routes, Darnold throws to a spot. Watch the routes Justin Jefferson has been running. They aren’t sharp and there’s very few times where he gets separation at the point of the read. Darnold is starting caliber for sure.
Its clear as day that Sam darnold is not winning u a superbowl
he should take a discount and stay with the vikings. For another year
The Lions had the Vikings number. The Vikings coaching staff let the Rams dial it in. No adjustments were made. Allowing the Rams to do essentially the same thing the Lions did. Not on Sam. Not on the team. In regards to where he ends up? Seahawks?
He will be a starter 100%.
DONT DO IT PITTSBURGH
As of today - no, Darnold won't be starting.
Once a starter gets injured early in the season, he'll be in line to start.
In two games sam darnell cost himself hundred and fifty million dollars
