Some songs you instinctively listen to when the first note strikes, with your eyes closed and your heart open. This was one of them. Its just pure magic when the two of you perform together... I don't know how you find them, those perfect Carson and Josh duets, but the memory of the song lingers in that voice in your head all morning long. The recording quality is extraordinary, kudos to everyone.
I love these guys. And their rendition of this song is truly great. But I've seen plenty of fantastic covers ruined by bad sound quality. It's heartbreaking. These fellas put out studio-quality recordings every time, which is refreshing as a connoisseur of covers. Half the covers I love most were recorded on a laptop mic and sound awful.
Seldom has a man lived that could inject his sadness into a song like TVZ. Even the happy ones are colored by it. I'm sure Townes would have loved this. What an amazing job you fellas did on this one.
I have been listening to you two for a long time. I even remember when Josh was on GMA or one of the other NY morning shows. You both have really become great singers. Your phrasing and musicality is just getting better over the years. Thank you for sharing your talents
There's no stronger wind than the one that blows Down a lonesome railroad line No prettier sight than looking back On a town you left behind There is nothin' that's as real As a love that's in my mind Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while There's lots of things along the road I'd surely like to see I'd like to lean into the wind And tell myself I'm free But your softest whisper's louder Than the highways call to me All the mountains and the rivers And the valleys can't compare To your blue lit dancin' eyes And yellow shining hair I could never hit the open road And leave you layin' there Lay your head back easy, love Close your cryin' eyes I'll be layin' here beside you When the sun comes on the rise I'll stay as long as the cuckoo wails And the lonesome bluejay cries.
There is such a beautiful ambiance in that clip that I don’t really want to know where exactly is this alley you are walking along [just to see it by day]. Magical and emotional moment anyway.
My particular favorite of Townes's songs. Thanks for the fine cover. I hope you and Carson et al. will someday release a record of country/folk/bluegrass covers: I do believe lots of us would be thrilled if you did.
I am so glad you guys finally covered some Townes. I was glad Carson covered some Blaze Foley in the past. 2 of the best writers in history. You guys did a great cover.
Thanks a lot to you guys! It is such an amazing warm feeling to sit down on a Friday midnight after a long and tedious week, open up the laptop, watch and hear you all together again! You songs and covers send around so much love and feeling. Sorry, don't have no money to support, hoping that my words will do.
Through the years and all the guests you've had on this channel you boys are my absolute favorite of all time. This is as good as it gets fellas.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I've been listening to alot of Townes and Guy Clark last couple years, heart and soul, keeping it real is always best. Hope you Fellas are having a great summer
Thank you for covering the splendid Townes van Zandt. Good job! ...And please, never waste your talent covering the band, America, ever again. That band is best left to rest in peace.
Ye, good feel. just keep doing it more. We all need more of this to make everything better . you both are so much more than your whole. So much. Cheers.
It seems too long since the last 'Other Favorites' album....I think Josh and Carson together are the strongest duo, the most musical and soulful...and fun too.
I don’t mind you fellows enjoying technical gadgetry from time to time, so long as you keep returning to this simplistic style. When blessed with your natural talents, you don’t need any more to please many of us.
My son's lullabye was a Townes Van Zandt song, Tecumseh Valley and he used to hum along with me. My mother's name and my sister's name is Caroline. I just loved the liness, "Her ways were free, and it seems to me, sunshine walked beside her." He still loves that song to this day, and he's 29. We love Townes VZ.
I think schools, bosses, parents and then of course us...we forget the peace the living messages of poetry to be more human again.. in an increasingly science, robotic world. Love. love many things ..and all is well. Well done.
Someone once asked Townes Van Zandt why he wrote such sad songs. He said, "I don't write sad songs, I write hopeless songs." This lovely tune is relatively upbeat for Townes.
We know each of these vocalists are special in their own right nut boy don't they just hit the spot on so many of their songs be it covers or wonderful original song.we have also seen them blend in perfectly with Ella and Toni let alone countless others.
Townes is in a class of his own, I wish more people knew his name. Beautifully done fellas.
Agree. Gimme some Pancho and Lefty
John Prine, Townes, Iris Dement,
His voice is so soothing
Blaze Foley too
Champ and Warren Hood
Names if not know if not for me father’s love of their music
Carson has never sounded better. His voice is getting smoother with age.
That guy in the glasses is an awesome musician!
Brown haired dude too
@@aduck205 some love for the singer with the freshly shaved mustache
Carson's voice is so damn beautiful! They're both soo good it's crazy
I'll Second that
yes, I agree with that
What has happened to the collaboration of Josh and Carson? It seems to have ended.
I totally agree with you. I find myself listening to Josh and Carson ore than any other one on youtube.
Great depth in your voice in this one Josh!
And Carson!
That goes without saying lol, but Josh's timbre really developed, especially in the lower range imo@@SempreGumby
I so love seeing the boys singing together they are vocally the perfect fit.
Gentlemen, wishing you the next 50 yrs of great things

Carson truly has a golden voice! This vibing tone gives me chills!
You guys are not only born to sing together but you have the home recording down to an art!! Thank you!
You two are the most magical duo. And that guitar sounds so pretty I'm loving it!
Seldom has a man lived that could inject his sadness into a song like TVZ. Even the happy ones are colored by it. I'm sure Townes would have loved this. What an amazing job you fellas did on this one.
why I love supporting Josh . This is just wonderful. Now do Snowin on Raton
Boys you are rapidly approaching everly brothers level harmonies , great job
Wonderful - thanks for keeping TVZ alive.
I never really felt the weight of the lyrics to this song until I heard this version. Well done guys. You’ve really done Townes justice.
Songwriting doesn't get much better than Townes Van Zandt. You guys sound great. Thank you for sharing!
These guys are my Other Favorites. Not sure who my other other favorites are, but these 2 are The Other Favorites.
Great to hear your voices together again. Thanks for the beautiful tune.
Thanks for keeping the beauty flowing.

Carson SILK😊
Nice job, guys! (As Usual)
There's no stronger wind than the one that blows
Down a lonesome railroad line
No prettier sight than looking back
On a town you left behind
There is nothin' that's as real
As a love that's in my mind
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while
There's lots of things along the road
I'd surely like to see
I'd like to lean into the wind
And tell myself I'm free
But your softest whisper's louder
Than the highways call to me
All the mountains and the rivers
And the valleys can't compare
To your blue lit dancin' eyes
And yellow shining hair
I could never hit the open road
And leave you layin' there
Lay your head back easy, love
Close your cryin' eyes
I'll be layin' here beside you
When the sun comes on the rise
I'll stay as long as the cuckoo wails
And the lonesome bluejay cries.
Glad you all felt good about that one. It’s beautiful! Thank you for truly amazing and inspiring music. Much Love.
I would be 10 times as ecstatic if I produced something 1/10 as good but those guys are like "It had good feel.....Yup.....Yup"
I agree, I would be jumping up and down. They are phenomenal!
Thank you Josh and Carson, beautiful vocals and guitar, on a Townes Van Zandt song … he was an amazing writer and musician
There is such a beautiful ambiance in that clip that I don’t really want to know where exactly is this alley you are walking along [just to see it by day].
Magical and emotional moment anyway.
Happy to see you back Carson ! Stay healthy !
Beautiful! Two talented guys can't go wrong with a Townes Van Zandt cover.
Proof that 2 men and a guitar can make great music.
Another fabulous collaboration from the Turner-McKee duo! 🤩👏👏👏👏
My particular favorite of Townes's songs. Thanks for the fine cover. I hope you and Carson et al. will someday release a record of country/folk/bluegrass covers: I do believe lots of us would be thrilled if you did.
Great cover of a Townes song. Josh’s following means that the younger folks will be exposed to this great song writer / performer’s songs.
I’ve been waiting a long time for my favourite songwriter to be covered by my fav RUclipsr songsters
I loved to hear you both singing together. Beautifully done guys.
Nice vibe to get the day rolling down the line.
Wow. This is the best cover of an amazing song. So well done!
Nice to see you guys together again, and Carson on his feet. This one sounds really good.
If I could go back in time 35 years I’d be playing with you guys! What wonderful talents you both are! ❤
Vos deux voix sont magnifiques, et sont arrivées jusque dans un petit village de France. Merci pour ce moment magique.
AWESOME JOB !!! That vintage guitar sound was just amazing I loved every second of that song !!!
Just lovely. Thank you, guys. Great song, beautifully sung and played. Wonderful to hear you both singing together again.

Townes was a superb songwriter. Thanks for bringing him back to life here, gents.
Thank you for sharing your great musical passion with us and for having managed to pass it on to us! Our life is more beautiful thanks to you!
Wow... aside from your usual outstanding performances, the quality of this recording is just amazing! Fantastic job!
I play it too, modestly, you people do it much better than I. Anyway, you give me new perspectives for the way I do it. Thanks and thanks Townes.
Wow, the vocals on this one are beyond smooth.
I've heard more than 2 dozen covers of this song, this is hands-down the best.
What a great song but even greater how well you complement each other! Thank you so much for this wonderful song and treat!
Lovely version, you caught the mood perfectly.
These two are just TOP! i could listen to this and never get tired! Thank you for sharing with us your wonderful work!

Man, I always love Carson’s over the original version. His voice melts my heart 🧡💛🧡
Damn!! - What a treat to wake to on this summer morning. Thanks to you three for this visual and audio treat.
Fan-flippin'-tastic cover of Townes. He was Americas greatest songwriter. Period.
Carson's also really good. What a beautiful performance! 👏👏👏

Josh - your bass was the shining light here 🥰

the magic you two create is uncomparable. One can tell you grew up on each others sides

Bravo, bravo. Votre version est superbe, la guitare, les voix.
Carson and Josh, you 2 are fantastic. you brought the beauty and essence of Ban Zandt songs. especially this one.
Just can't stop listening to you guys. Sooo mellow.
I think schools, bosses, parents and then of course us...we forget the peace the living messages of poetry to be more human again.. in an increasingly science, robotic world. Love. love many things ..and all is well. Well done.
God you two sound so good in harmony. I look forward to anything you produce.

Great performance as always, but I just have to say : the recording quality is mind-blowing! 🤯
Thank you! Can’t beat tape.

I like that you've used a pretty basic mic on the guitar and it's distorting on the peaks, nice touch 👌
Fantastic job gentlemen. Great concert the other day Josh! I wish more musicians would do those.
Thanks for opening my ears to this song. Nicely done.
yay ,,, nice to see you too again ,, also Alison ,, great trio , thanks guys
Love the sound of this guitar, serious David Rawlings Epiphone vibes.
The singing is great, but there's only one star in this video: that guitar. Wow, what a sound!
Someone once asked Townes Van Zandt why he wrote such sad songs. He said, "I don't write sad songs, I write hopeless songs." This lovely tune is relatively upbeat for Townes.
Dynamic Duo strikes again! Thanks!
Great job, gentlemen. Please do more Townes... Thanks for sharing what you love. K
