This whole song makes me cry. I kind of love when you can see how much an artist loves someone by how much their music changes.

I just love the way Emma looks at him. I've seen it several times in videos. So supportive and loving.
The strangest part to me is how the accordion player looks at him during the performance. It makes me feel uncomfortable and I don’t know why.

Far and beyond the most beautiful song JT has ever written, if you ask me.
Right like all the lyrical wittiness of FJM but so much more sentimental than most of his material
Sometimes I'll hear a brand new song by someone I've never heard and feel absolutely nothing, and exit the video before the first line of the chorus. And then there's now. The tears welling up 'till suddenly there's too many too hold.
When this song came out I wanted this to be first played in my wedding. Along with some of his other songs

He still added the cosmic punchline he left out of the Tillman albums.

Amazing song! I know he wrote this about the first time he met his wife but for some reason it also reminds me of the film "The Broken Circle Breakdown" to some extent (a great film by the way)

So am I reading this wrong? Is the whole song some grand romantic telling of what their lives will be like, but at the end you realize that he is telling her all this upon initially meeting? By saying I've seen you around, what's your name. If so its a really funny punchline at the end of a beautiful song.

JcGrubbsFilms It starts out with him looking back at when they first met. He was just buying coffee and cigarettes. Then he looks to the present and in one years time, he's become jealous, and prone to paranoia when he's stoned. Saying he cares about her and loves her. Then he looks to the future and talks about living in the south with her and letting the grass grow out. And these revelations are a result of that fateful meeting. Which causes him to look back at that small little moment, where he decided to talk to her and said, "Ive seen you around, what's you're name?"

Can't say I really like FJM's personality in interviews, but he has some damn good songs. This and Holy Shit are probably my favorites.
His asshole-ish persona is very much so an aspect of his musicianship and lyricism. “The Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apt” is very much so a deconstruction if his own issues and negative behaviors framed as the critique of a former lover, as well as songs like “The Ideal Husband” where he just flat out lays out how much of a dick he can be. It’s refreshing, in a weird way, but without the framing and filtering of it musically, it’s easy for that persona to be irritating or unlikeable, in the same way Kanye’s interviews get railed but his music is loved.
I fall in love with this everytime I hear it. Man please gift us with your beautiful music, I got to see you a couple years back and you’re too great to be hiding away!

His guitar work sounded really nice. Does anyone know if he is playing a Gibson southern jumbo banner acoustic? That's what it kind of looks like. Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and sides. As opposed to a J-45 which has a bit of a different finish and Sitka top.
