- Episode 24 of Songs at the Shop was a big one for us. A lot of us at the shop have been huge fans of This Will Destroy You since Young Mountain came out in 2006. This was also the last Songs episode we filmed in the old shop before moving spaces so we cleared out the shipping room for some serious vibes as they played "Weeping Window" from the album "New Others Part One."

You'll hear the Jupiter Fuzz getting a heavy workout here as well as the ARP-87 Delay, Slö Reverb and 385 Overdrive.

I love that companies in the guitar effects industry don't pretend that other companies don't exist. This sounded amazing, and they had other companies' pedals on their boards. So awesome.
Pedal makers tend to work together a lot and talk together
By the end of this I came to terms… with everything.
"There are chords in the hearts of the most reckless that cannot be touched without emotion" - Edgar A. P.
They should’ve just recorded a whole set from there.
This is the best version of this song. The drummer is allowed to express himself more than in the album version and it helps bring the 2nd half of the song alive.
100% agree
Kudos to Walrus on the mixing of this performance. Those drums are powerful and the stringed instruments are clear while still retaining that TWDY sound. Great work!
Thanks man.
@@jaronnix6214 Amazing job!
Totally agree, that's an excellent job. Sorry to say but, for me, sounds better than in the album.
This might be one of the best mixed recordings I have ever heard. Gotta love TWDY.
☺️
To me, this version is miles better in terms of mixing than the album version. This is fantastic!
This band has an important place in my playing style and tone choices - this was a lovely treat to stumble across today!
Tom Seiple glad you found it!
how could anyone not like this band honestly? Everything about this is like magic.
Also, an old This Will Destroy You would've brought the keys from the beginning back over top of the drums and guitar... and THAT would've sounded amazing too. But it's cool to see they're experimenting with new formulas.
Favorite band of all time... I feel every song on a spiritual level
this is my fav band too !!
This video, especially, fills me with great emotion!
Well said. I feel you, man.
So Pandora suggested me This Will Destroy You last week. I will forever thank them for it. I have no idea why it has taken me so many years to find this music but there is magic in every track I've listened to from them. I feel like this music takes me on a journey.
Awesome!
It's the band I think more people should listen to. To discover all the inner sadness, grief, joy, and peace.
Tunnel Blanket is a masterpiece but don’t sleep on Young Mountain or the self titled album
I’ve got a raging toner from these sounds.
you have to calm down your printer, mate
If I could give this comment an award I would
If you guys only recorded one song please do another session... this is seriously one of the best live recordings of TWDY, maybe even THE best live recording of them.
definitely the best one. I come back to this recording at the very least weekly. Usually once I play it once I get trapped in a loop of playing it several times.
Rumor has it, every time Walrus Audio makes a new pedal, an angel is born.
Origin Music 🙏
walrusaudioeffects love your pedals fellas ❤️ use them religiously!
@@walrusaudioeffects well for my alternative project....now - along with the video - this convinced me to invest in walrus audio to use in my synth rig...so vould have the chance to perform in this very spot.
Ill be following walrus on IG under my Adrian Anubus account.
Live session made by a pedal company. Couldn't ask for more.
wah mas iga juga pendengar TWDY, uhuyyyy
Why my board is 80%walrus
that snare tone, man.
not really nice tbh, random boring hard rock tone
@@bartni Pretty clearly a sample. I think the kick is too.
really? I thought it sounded distractingly triggered
I'm not that sure that it's a sample. The snare tone from the album is not the same
@@SuperDrummerful very distracting
The mixing and mastering on this one is very impressive. Love it!
Emmanuel_S Music Thanks man. Mixing: @desperadosound mastering: @adamcmastering on IG
@@jaronnix6214 thanks a lot.
So true
If New Others sounded like this, it would be a modern classic on part with YM and S/T. I don’t understand their mixing and masterpiece choices. But this..... this is fucking brilliant.
Damn this had some mad atmospheric black metal vibes, wicked stuff.
I noticed that. So strange but interesting thing at the same time!
@@phoffidelrio super moody and dark, glad someone else appreciated it haha
Isn't post rock heavily influenced by black metal, just without the speed?
@@reveloharry probably, but in any case if you talk about the most commonly refered to sound then they both have the heavy use of reverb, similar instruments and tremolo picking technique in common
@@reveloharry Probably. I'd say that's why that whole "blackgaze" sound that bands like Alcest have works so well and seamlessly
Well that was heavy, I love it. Nostalgic and dark and plain cool.
This is one of the best series of live music sessions around
Holy moses, this was incredible. Thank you for making this.
Cannot wait to be able to soak up these sounds live when bands can tour again until then I'm super glad that there are recording like this to keep me sane. Thank you for this!
i wish i could like this video more than once
love these guys til the end of time 🖤
Thanks for posting this! Great band and I dig this song more now than when it came out.
Thank you for sharing this. Know how I am spending my weekend now.
Outstanding recording... especially the drums! TWDY will always be in my top 5 PR bands of all time.
What are your other top 5?
@@Ghosty_cat_ I wanna know your top 5 as well! Mine is Twdy, mogwai, explosions in the sky, maybeshewill, red sparowes. I think red sparowes is my favourite band. And ISIS but they are not really considered post rock.
Nothing but love for this band!
This Will Destroy You! Thank you, Walrus Audio! These guys make music that takes you on an emotional journey. Big fan of their music and your pedals.
Best recommendation of the year so far.
"The Mighty Rio Grande" if you haven't already, it's incredible.
(440 Sessions "IAH" - Ouroboros) is another studio performance that's tight and powerful
This is literally better than the record version
If only Tunnel Blanket was mixed like this
Tunnel Blanket is a masterpiece without proper mastering.
@@ThegreatCMFB Tunnel blanket is a masterpiece.
Do you know what the speaker is saying in powdered hand, I’ve listened to the song over 50 times now and can only make out the speaker talking about various injuries
@@asmodusii7412 It's an interview with Dr. Temple Grandin on animal slaughter techniques.
My favorite band at the shop!!!! So awesome!
Awesome quality video and music that makes me shiver. Top!
3:20 Oh my lordy. This is amazing music. A heavy Sigur Ros. I love it.

So beautiful, so powerfull, no words can described this instrumental song 😉😉 Thank you guys🤩
I LOVE this guys! I've been a fan for I dont even know how long, since 2015? Maybe, idk but god I love them. Their music pierces right through my soul, and ripples through my mind until all my anxiety is gone. I'll always love them for that. ❤💜 -A lost soul, touched by music.
I never stopped watching this!! It's so damn powerful
One of my favourite bands with one of my favourite pedal companies, perfection!

Ughh that sound , so tight 👏🏻👏🏻

those tones are the perfect bridge between post-rock and shoegaze
all hail fuzz
I've watched this video 30 times in the last 3 days.

Perfect work song👏👏👏
Amazing recording, mixing and also u guys are on point. Would be a plus to see all the diff signal chains going on.
So. Good. Thank you.
i can live eternally on this song
AMAZING!!
A música desses caras é muito, muito boa!!!🔥
Weeping Window is the only song I will never listen to by TWDY... I listened to it once, and couldn’t sleep that night because it was stuck in my head and I couldn’t stop crying. How the hell can anyone make something so sad?
Listen to Brutus - Sugar Dragon. It's even more sad.
Simply beautiful.
Many thanks!
Epic sound!!!!
any chance you guys recorded any of their other songs while they were there? The audio quality of this session is absolutely flawless!!!
More please. Thank you.
Wow..... Beautiful
how does this not have 1 million views i do not know . i always come back here
Holy shit! I'm sitting here and just fcking can't believe what I'm hearing! Such a great song. Wow!
one of the most beautiful songs on earth
This is epic - I lost myself at some point in this performance and felt like i was sinking deeper and deeper and when that fuzz kicked it, i felt goosebumps and tears even but all along felt a sense of elation to keep going. Thank you for this.
What are these effects showcased here? And what in the world is that amazing sets of strings and samples? Wow
Love that! The pedals that they used of ours are Jupiter Fuzz, ARP-87 Delay, Slö Reverb and 385 Overdrive!
Beautiful
Pure Art!
The snare sounds the best
OMG! - This destroyed me.....from the inside 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is SO sick

Love the Reface!

Thank you

That was so huge.
