  • Webinar Overview: 13 Ways To Run Out of Air & How Not To
DAN has been helping divers manage emergencies for more than 40 years. In that time, incident reports have shown that running out of breathing gas is consistently among the most common incidents and is the Number 1 cause of dive fatalities. Unfortunately, even the most skilled divers have made mistakes and run out of gas. In this presentation, we’ll present the 13 most common factors that contribute to out-of-air emergencies and discuss how to mitigate them. We’ll cover problems related to situational awareness, procedural problems such as starting with a less-than-full tank and omitting predive checks, and common equipment issues. This is the perfect webinar for divers who have been out of the water for a while and want to refresh their knowledge. We hope you’ll join us!

A key element of the DAN Mission is educating the diving public and the medical profession on the appropriate care for divers injured in dive accidents. This education takes on many forms, disseminating information on topics related to dive safety through articles, reports, seminars, lectures and training programs.

No skilled scuba diver will ever run out of gas (absent catastrophic equipment failure). If it does occur, they were not a skilled diver.

Dont forget to take a breath in your octopus to see if it works!

It's something I see mostly experienced divers. They check the main regulator.. And then they clip in the octopus and go diving..
      Great content! ❤️

What do you mean by vigorous Exercise?

Thanks for the great question. Vigorous exercise is the equivalent of 7 METS or in practical terms - if the person is walking or running they would not be able to speak complete sentences or they would have to keep them very short. For a relatively fit individual it translates to about a 7km/h walk speed. Hope that helps. DAN Medical Team
