Vexillology Volume IV:
Flags haven't always been the thing that represents a nation, instead that honor goes to coats of arms. The study of these coats is known as heraldry, and it allows us to trace the colors on modern flags back to the tinctures on the middle age shields.

Fun fact: The only country that REALLY used purple / purpure is: the Spanish republic flag, which uses a large purple stripe

btw, at 2:14, the green part under the apostolic cross, isn't actually a bush, but three grass-covered hills representing the 3 big mountain ranges of historical hungary)

As a Canadian, the modern Canada flag or the maple leaf as it is known locally, is pretty interesting when it comes to meanings in the flag. We tried to avoid an universal meaning on the flag largely due our diverse nature as a former settler colony. Officially, the only meaning in our flag comes from the maple leaf itself, a common tree and symbol of Canadian pride and strength.
In other words, the flag as made mostly to satisfied Québec during the 60's.
There is one more kind of tincture: furs. They represent animal furs and look like repeating patterns. You can find one, called "ermine" on the flag of the French region of Brittany/Bretagne.

In Poland particularly, we have a legend about the origins of our national colors. It can be summed up as the founder seeing a dope white eagle against a red sunset.
I love your art style, it reminds me of polandball’s early days.
Also, Sussex Kent and Essex are the oldest county flags.
Most of the British county flags are actually derivatives of their respective shields, as shown with the Heptarchy. I’m pretty sure Buckinghamshire is an exception with the coat of arms being a derivative of its banner(?) but i can’t confirm that.
The flag of Newfoundland (in Newfoundland and Labrador) has a pink stripe.
One of the few purple symbols is that of Liverpool my home city. It represents Everton and Liverpool football clubs together, red and blue equals purple

Fun fact: Argentinian Flag (maybe, nobody really knows, the most accepted theory is this one) comes from the cockade/rosette from the revolutionary army, that based from a christian religious order that was from Spain, inspired from the colors of Mary (the mother of Jesus, idk how its said on english) being them the Blue from the "coat" and white for purity. Then you have the Inca sun, that comes for the great influence that they left on the north eastern region of the country.
I hope it helps a lil bit to clarify, cause the thing from the sea and the sky is just a primary school lie for the children.

This video has brought up something interesting, I created my own flag, yes? People do that, well mines white and gold in that diamond Bavarian pattern. Now I’m wondering, should I have added a third colour to it, maybe.
Also some good funnies in here, like that Canada joke. So, all in all, good stuff, I hope to see more.
And so early too, I’m usually years late to these.
The rule of tincture isn't really a "law", and it got broken often in the outer region sof Europe, so a Bavaria-pattern with white and gold definitely works well on its own!

For clarification, what I wrote in that comment was how Vexillologists, like NAVA, apply the Rules of Tincture to flags.
They include pink as a light color.

The white flag going from purity to surrender in meaning is likely due to the purity of the intention to surrender involved, so using a white flag would imply that you have no ill intent when surrendering.
Moldova also has a brown eagle on flag

It's the Frankish Empire, but they didn't actually have a modern flag, so I made one up resembling the Oriflamme which they did use.
