- Will Ferrell and Harper Steele chat about their new doc 'Will And Harper' with Jack Guinness.
Roughly 30 years ago, Will Ferrell was brought onto the cast of Saturday Night Live around the same time as Harper Steele was hired as a writer. The two became close collaborators, with Steele writing many of Ferrell’s most iconic characters and sketches. Their professional and creative partnership evolved into a decades-long friendship, and when Ferrell found out his dear friend was coming out as a trans woman, the two embarked on a cross-country road trip to process this new stage in their relationship. And thus, the story of Will & Harper begins.

The main barrier I had with being lesbian is that I had to accept a lot of random people were going to view me as "gross" by default. Sure a lot of people are accepting nowdays or don't care but a good chunk of the population still views you as "gross" and that's a hard thing to overcome.
Loved this movie. Made me think, laugh, cry, and shifted my perspective on trans women.

I feel so bad for his family. And Will. Imagine making all these silly jokes as a comedian and now you have to awkwardly backpedal your humor cuz your bestie is trans now. He's prolly mad af and has to go along with it or else he'd get backlash. But that's not why I feel bad for Will. Rather it's cuz his friend is being dishonest and he has to deal with this weird change. I don't believe comedians like him and say Marlon Wayans are happy about their loved ones coming out as trans with all their non-PC humor. I'm glad Marlon didn't disown his kid though.
