Yep, he genuinely seemed interested and wanted to raise some interesting points. I am honestly Very disappointed with this episode. It really felt like they were trying to get the sweet monetization before the hype goes away rather than actually talking about the show.
@RahmanNewman-uy9pd I mean the only reason they couldn't really talk about much, is for the same reason they couldn't talk about Arcane even though they were really excited to do so. That's because Joey always wants to be different and a contrarian, who wants to not watch/read things that are hyped/popular. Which affects the other two who were ready to talk about it on Trash Taste and make a great episode out of it. Random P.S.: I'm a fan of Attack on Titan, which was disappointed with the ending.
@@RahmanNewman-uy9pd yeah I think that’s what annoyed me about Joey not even bothering to watch it. I’ll take your sweet money but I won’t even make the minimum amount effort.
This episode is a bit of shame because they title the podcast ep with the idea it’s mainly the guys talking about the AOT finale and how big this series has been over the years… and Garnt seems to be the only one to show any interest in talking about it Edit: noticed they changed the title. Subtle. But might be a better alt title, helps set a better idea of what the episode is. Still underwhelmed by the discussion.
This episode feels like that one typical discussion between 2 casual watchers and that 1 enthusiastic anime fan that really wanted to discuss about a certain anime deeply but just can't because the others are not really into it.
When was the last time either of those two were able to make a cohesive take on a recent anime? These guys are living in the past, and can't really be considered "anime" people anymore.

The legend says that Garnt got so salty at the lack of AOT ending talk that he ended up making the video in less than 1 day (with Mudan's help of course)
This entire fucking episode needs to be the front runner for the yearly trash taste awards. Giving Trash Taste credit and meaning to the fucking name, dear god.
Wht u mean? They make some valid points about the show. Outside of the plot, the studio butchered the show by making a series out of the final season. Thats a good way to drown out everyone’s excitement. Yall so pressed riding the studio meat so much yall dont want to admit the shts about it🤡
Dang. This was like a reenactment of high school when I'd try to discuss anime with my normie friends but everyone thought anime was just cringe porn. I hope Garnt gets a chance to discuss the series/ending in depth on his own channel.
honestly connor having monkey takes but actually watching the show is way better than someone that doesnt even watch the show but still want to talk about the ending

So. Connor thought it was boring because it had exposition. Joey has no interest in watching because it’s too mainstream (eventhough he just has the last two episodes left). Conor obviously doesn't give a fuck about AoT, giving shallow takes and calling it boring. He is like those people who "knows" or "watch" AoT, but doesn't really understand the story.

I am so disappointed for this episode, I was waiting for this discussion for a while and hearing only Garnt that care about this and to seriously have a proper discussion is so sad to see and hear.
it genuinely felt like being part of a friend group, and for the longest time you all shared the same interest, like playing the same online game together or something, and slowly but surely, over time, you begin to notice you're not playing/talking about it anymore, and one day you just realize none of them are into it as much as to at least keep a convo going.... i'd say my wait and expectations for a discussion about the ending of SnK from these boys was quite higher than anything i had FOR the ending itself ngl xD
Also I don't care about them not discussing the ending since I been made by peace with it. Connor always gives his take regardless how he feels which I appreciate. Grant is always trying regardless of constant meeting. And Joey really just be there most of time...like sure it was funny the 30 times you made the (the anime man doesn't watch anime kek lawl I'm so quirky) that's the feeling I get Everytime we loop back around and start talking about any anime other than some random shit no one has heard of..
This felt like Garnt was the only one who kept his screen turned on while watching Aot. Connor and Joey were in there like what show is Garnt even talking about 😂
True. To be fair, it had been going on for 10 years and Garnt admitted to regularly rewatching seasons. It's fair enough if the details are blurry for a show that's been going for 10 years.
@realauthority202 I agree. I imagine rough podcast talking points for shows like these are probably discussed 1 or 2 weeks in advance and then they roll with it when they arrive. I doubt a discussion about one of the biggest anime of all time ending was dropped on them a day or two before recording. It's just pretty lazy from Joey.
@realauthority202 Yeah, I agree Joey should have at least finished the show, but I don't think Connor needed to re-watch all of season 1 just to be able to discuss the show. I actually liked the dynamic of one person being well-versed who has re-watched everything (Garnt), discussing with a fan of the show who has been casually watching it when it comes out (Connor). If they all had just re-watched the whole series, I guess it could be interesting. But I prefer if they all discuss their differing experiences and knowledge about the show. That way, you get the insight/commentary from someone who die-hard knows everything about the show, and someone who was more casual about it.
This exact conversation was with the 4th John Wick movie. Connor and Garnt were switched on that discussion. Garnt skipped the third movie so he did not get any plot of the 4th movie and said he just watched John Wick for the action, where Connor was defending everything about it and understood the plot. This time Garnt understood the story, but Connor did not. And Joey had a very similar opinion, "I did not watch it.....but for some reason, I still am going to give my opinion as if I had watched and make arguments as if I had watched".
but Garnt was right knowing what happened in JW 3 wouldn't change your opinion on JW 4 because JW doesn't have any deep story or lore like Connor was making it sound like it has.
@@mmehedii4906 Yes but regardless is almost the same situation, while their stances are switched. Someone really into a series, another person who watched the latest content but does not remember very well the story ( in JW case because Garnt skip the 3rd movie)and some one who has not watched the current/ending or keep up with the series. Its the same thing, I guess the only difference, is that discussion between Connor and Garnt in JW is that they… actually talk much more about it and their feelings on it and explore martial arts movies, compare this video of AoT finale where is just Garnt trying to discuss Aot and then directing to the topic ‘does the ending if series matter?’, in order to have a topic to discuss. So its close to the same situation but… at the same time its close but no cigar. Well on that topic of AoT, did you like its ending? I did! But I kind of understand if many did not, its quite a hard ending to swallow. It pulls a Lelouch ending plus 60% of genocide of the world’s population for the sake of the few people you love. I'll be honest, this is an extremely unprofessional episode even in Trash Taste standard. You have one of the biggest anime finishing after 10 years of running, along with one of the biggest controversial endings in manga/anime history. Any anituber would love to debate further and express their thought. Here you have the biggest platform with the most renown anitubers: One of them does not do his homework for childish reason and the other spent too much time pigeonholing into single aspect rather than exploring the story and presentation as a whole. If they're willing to do their bear minimum in the debate, whether it is good or bad I'm sure the anime community would appreciates their view. I think most people here agree that Garnt is the only one actually want to talk about the show. What's a Trash Taste when you only have one person that actually talks?
Yeah, like at least talk about it properly whether you love or hate it. What we got is just 1 dude trying to inject passion in the discussion while the other two being bored af. Why even bother making a episode dedicated to the show then.
Bro what u get upset about it’s fair enough for Joey not finishing it. Atleast he wanted parts of it he don’t gotta watch the entire final seasons to give like a top professional review about it
Yeah. It's like, I really don't care whether their opinions on the show are the same as mine, but not watching it, and then saying it's trash is just unprofessional, and a real disservice to everyone who came here to see a discussion about it. If you cant be asked to watch the show, then don't dedicate an episode of your show to talk about it...
Normally when I say "this is the worst trash taste episode" it's for something silly like food takes or whatnot, but this was one of the most painful episodes I've ever had to sit through. I know it's a meme that it's ironic how people don't like it when the "anime podcast" talks about anime, but there's a difference between having feelings about a show that you've watched and having feelings about a show that you didn't watch. I'm sure the boys don't mind too much if someone doesn't watch the episode and whatnot, it's their lives and they can live however they please, but this is straight up just bad content practices to act like you're going to talk about the ending of a very important show to your careers and instead have one person straight up not watch the episode and not provide a single meaningful word of discussion around it. It's clickbait, and this is the first episode of TT in a while where I've felt like I've wasted my time engaging with this content. I hate to be so harsh and rude, Garnt seemed like he really wanted to have a genuine conversation about the show and it's ending, but for the love of all that is holy PLEASE do some research before these types of episodes. The "Fuck It We Ball" mindset worked a couple years ago, but now? Not so much imo.
It's definitely disrespectful considering they actually get paid for this and doesn't even put effort on researching a highly anticipated anime. Sure, you can be like "we're too old to watch anime" but this isn't the case it's a case having a sense of responsibility as a content creator to have a little research regarding a certain topic.
@@esteff013not only do they get paid by YT, which is one thing, but they have a Patreon too of people giving their own money to support them. I know Connor talked about how they didn’t plan this ahead of time, but I’m sorry that still doesn’t excuse putting this episode out except for clickbait or trendiness. If they’re THAT worried about engagement and watch times, then maybe put some real effort into the show and not rely on low-effort tricks that a startup channel needs to grow. When the show ends, it will be by their own doing, and not because us fans were too fickle or hopped onto something else.

Garnt has also chosen not to watch some critically acclaimed shows just because he isnt emotionally invested enough to do so. I think people are really taking the Arcane thing out of proportion.
I think this is the biggest reason people get annoyed with Joey is that he still acts like that teenager that is way too cool to respect anyone. And anyone that criticizes him for it is just dismissed as a 'hater'. Connor and Garnt at least have interesting well thought out takes to offer when they want to and aren't purposefully clowning around. Joey almost just always has the most surface level takes that are either just flat out wrong or some sarcastic meme.
@ad4real it ain't his job to finish the anime. If he doesn't wanna finish it, that's fine. Just cause his name is the anime man, doesn't mean he gonna watch or finish every anime. The man literally wants to move on from his username
@@brandon678 it is his job, it’s literally his career, he’s just half-assing it and he’s proud of that. At least watch the show you’re gonna be doing an entire episode on. He doesn’t have to love it, but why doesn’t he take anything seriously anymore? If you’re gonna call yourself “theanimeman” you better be watching the ending of one of the most popular anime ever created.
I mean, one of Joey's YT channels is just him READING the news and offered very little unique opinion. Some of his videos are lazy af. He should learn a thing or two from Aki.
I feel like just because of this episode Connor and Joey should force themselves into a marathon then try to debate properly cause man i feel for Garnt rn.
What a joke of an episode. They've all been praising AOT for awhile on the pod. And then Joey just admits "Oh... I haven't been watching." And he tries to justify it by claiming it fell off and that he doesn't care? That's not what you've been saying for the last 176 episodes man!
After watching Garnt's video on his channel, this retroactively makes me more upset. Garnt really had lots of interesting/compelling points to discuss on the series as a whole. But Connor and Joey just couldn't be bothered to even develop any sort of interesting conversation on the ending. FeelsBadMan
No for real. He had a lot of valid questions about the ending. It's very confusing, but that's what makes it an even better thing to talk about. There was so much they could've delved into, because of the complexity of this show. And they decided to talk about the naming for 10 mins.
I know it happens, but still quite sad to see how Joey has fallen out of anime so even with events like these we dont get the discussion Im sure most people wanted Garnt thankfully always delivers, and his video on it was another banger! Edit: wow yall in the comments are RUTHLESS, although for once I gotta say I kinda get it. I do think the latter half is fine, but yeah the "aot discussion" part was just Garnt trying his best to get a discussion goin Happens.

I very vividly remember being in 8th grade in 2013 and hearing one of my friends talk to someone else about how amazing the first episode was. After that I feel like the show slowly crept up on me until I finally caved and watched it myself in my freshman year of HS. It feels so weird hearing it ended rn when it feels just like yesterday that I was hearing how amazing that first (and only) episode was.
Whats weird for me is I can finally avoid spoliers after 10 years. It was always kinda muscle memory for to avoid comment sections on aot related things so it feels weird now that I literally know everything and can't be spoiled lmao
I came to the show a bit late in 2019 because I thought it would be overhyped like Code Geass or Angel Beats but the 1st episode got me hooked instantly.
You'd think some of the biggest voices in anitube would at least acknowledge the production issues that led to the final season being split up like it was, the final arc is genuinely hard to animate. I appreciate Garnt willing to look past it though and still appreciate the story

Ikr, how do you watch that scene between Eren and Armin and call it boring? It was heartbreaking and cathartic. What they should've said is that they weren't invested in the story. It's not the stories problem it's theirs lol.
Joey and Connor man💀…whenever anime gets brought up these two act like they’re too cool for it and so above everyone. Did you guys forget what community supported and built you up😭
Joey the "ohh I'm cool cus I'm different" man. He never ever watch something that's recently popular, whether it's jjk, bocchi the rock, arcane, everything.
Connor: "We need more endings where the main character isn't a chosen one, where they're just some idiot who flies too close to the sun." Also Connor: "AOT ending was mid."
To be fair to both sides, Eren is the chosen one, but only because he chose himself to be the chosen one, and at that point the chosen one is more a metaphor for trauma and stuff like that, because he thinks he is the monster because he has both acted like the monster in the past, he must act like the monster to even have a chance to save the Paradisians, he always had the selfish dream to explore either a world in general or an empty world and bigoted humans were an excuse, and because Eren feels that he has to contribute or else. And even then, it did not change much about humans, just that Eren secured peace for these Paradisians and Eldians. Eren is both a main character that is chosen and a side character.
"Hey guys, we're going to talk about the AOT ending for 50% of the next podcast, make sure you spend the 1 or 2 hours watching it so you can meaningfully contribute to the discussion :)" Joey:
Joey the "ohh I'm cool cus I'm different" animeman. He never ever watch something that's recently popular, whether it's jjk, bocchi the rock, arcane, everything. Unless Garnt and Connor ask him to
Yeah, like tbh I get the delays between parts killing the hype for some people but damn dude complaining about naming conventions when it’s literally just part 1, part 2, part 3. Literally if you can count then you’ll know what to watch plus it’s all in the final season and is in sequential episode so it’s not that complicated 😭
You know I don't really want Trash Taste to be an anime only podcast, I'm fine with it as it is. But let's be honest if there's one thing that all of us have in common, is our love for anime, and while I'm okay with it not being an anime podcast there are just sometimes where something big happens in the anime community that I'm pretty sure the viewers wants to hear the boys thoughts on. The ending of Aot was one of those times, and I feel like Garnt was the only one who seemed to care about breaking it down. Connor addresses good points whenever he's talking about an anime he cares about to be honest, other times it just feels like he didn't give certain animes a proper chance which makes his criticism comes off completely ignorant. On the other hand, Aot was a mainstream anime, so of course Joey didn't finish it. And hey, I know I don't have the right to tell Joey and Connor what to watch, what to like, and when to watch an anime, it's up to them obviously, but it just gets so annoying when it keeps on happening.
It's not even about not being an anime podcast, Joey not liking mainstream stuff ect If you're specifically doing an episode on a subject, as presumably planned by your producers and the company you work for, and you figuratively don't show up to the conversation and engage in the topic, then what was rhe point?
People are upset because we want to hear the discussion from the biggest anime content creators. It's a shame that there is so much to talk about but at the end we get this. Kind of a slap to anime fans in general imo cause that's the fanbase they started from. But it's personal choice and I respect that.
Like, I get that Joey is now, "The I Don't Watch Anime Anymore Man," but come on. He knew very well that the show was ending and that they all were gonna talk about it at some point. He didn't even bother watching it. That's like showing up to class and not having your homework done, or turning in a group project and not doing any of the work. That's just unprofessional. At the very least, he could've just read the manga. These final 2 episodes only covered 9 chapters. It would've only taken him like an hour to read. Then he could've at least contributed to the discussion.
@@WiredLain_ Yeah, that too. But even Conor seemed to just go on and on about how bad naming Convention was & how bored he was in the last part of the port battle taking 7 ep when in reality it was 2 episode only ending with an iconic scene. It's honestly a Cluster fuck.

If they all had just re-watched the whole series, I guess it could be interesting. But I prefer if they all discuss their differing experiences and knowledge about the show. This episode was a huge let down as an anime and Trash Taste fan. This could have been a banger episode, however Joey forgot to do his homework and Connor… well has a monke brain.
This is Joey's literal friggin job. Like cmon dude
Atleast he wanted parts of it he don’t gotta watch the entire final seasons to give like a top professional review about it
They aren't anitubers. They were but Connor def not anymore and Joey doesn't care about Anime anymore so they can say what they think
The comment section and the sub going batsh!t is more entertaining than anything else lmao
Sure those people are free to cancel their patronage or “they knew what they signed up for” but I’m sorry this episode goes beyond hot takes or wild opinions and just ends up in low quality regardless of their opinions on the show ending.
I know Connor talked about how they didn’t plan this ahead of time, but I’m sorry that still doesn’t excuse putting this episode out except for clickbait or trendiness.

I know it happens, but still quite sad to see how Joey has fallen out of anime so even with events like these we dont get the discussion Im sure most people wanted
Garnt thankfully always delivers, and his video on it was another banger!
Edit: wow yall in the comments are RUTHLESS, although for once I gotta say I kinda get it. I do think the latter half is fine, but yeah the "aot discussion" part was just Garnt trying his best to get a discussion goin

The people in these comments are the very reason Joey has fallen out with anime

@ManuelMorales-11 he's tried to pivot away from anime a bit because he doesn't enjoy it as much, it's not some epic betrayal. He's not obligated to talk about anything and nutjobs in the comments need to go outside if they think their personal attacks are okay
End of an era, literally. When I got into anime AOT had just exploded, I can't really believe it's finished
I know right. What a journey
Holy hell this episode is gonna be up there for biggest trash taste controversies isn’t it
You'd think some of the biggest voices in anitube would at least acknowledge the production issues that led to the final season being split up like it was, the final arc is genuinely hard to animate. I appreciate Garnt willing to look past it though and still appreciate the story
Maybe the reason Joey and garnt weren’t appreciate of the story was because they thought it was boring which it was. Idk, just a thought
@@quaffiea Only for you it was boring friend. It's the best part of AOT and it's just people with 2 braincells that can't understand the complexities that find it boring.

Ikr, how do you watch that scene between Eren and Armin and call it boring? It was heartbreaking and cathartic. What they should've said is that they weren't invested in the story. It's not the stories problem it's theirs lol.
Funny that even mappa haters, 3D animation haters and ending haters like the path

Joey the "ohh I'm cool cus I'm different" man. He never ever watch something that's recently popular, whether it's jjk, bocchi the rock, arcane, everything.
Connor: "We need more endings where the main character isn't a chosen one, where they're just some idiot who flies too close to the sun."
Also Connor: "AOT ending was mid."
u do realize u can have shit endings where the main character isn't a chosen one, where they're just some idiot who flies too close to the sun
Tbf eren is still kinda the chosen one, just in a different way than you'd expect
"Hey guys, we're going to talk about the AOT ending for 50% of the next podcast, make sure you spend the 1 or 2 hours watching it so you can meaningfully contribute to the discussion :)"

Technically he did talk about AOT. It's just that his opinion is different from these AoT fans. I don't see anything wrong in that
I can respect people opinions , but my god those are poor reasons for hating a show, Joey: How can i sound different
on point
Yeah, like tbh I get the delays between parts killing the hype for some people but damn dude complaining about naming conventions when it’s literally just part 1, part 2, part 3.
Literally if you can count then you’ll know what to watch plus it’s all in the final season and is in sequential episode so it’s not that complicated 😭
For real. When you think this could be the best opportunity for them to deliver as anitubers… what a waste
U should've known that joey is too cool for mainstream anime 😎
It's not even about not being an anime podcast, Joey not liking mainstream stuff ect
If you're specifically doing an episode on a subject, as presumably planned by your producers and the company you work for, and you figuratively don't show up to the conversation and engage in the topic, then what was rhe point?
@@User_95168That's so lame though 😭
People are upset because we want to hear the discussion from the biggest anime content creators. It's a shame that there is so much to talk about but at the end we get this. Kind of a slap to anime fans in general imo cause that's the fanbase they started from. But it's personal choice and I respect that.
I totally agree and they shouldn't discuss it or make it their main talking point if 2/3 of them couldn't even give a shit about it.
Then he could've at least contributed to the discussion.
afaik the aot ending is a last- minute addition to the podcast so it wasn't planned.
@@tldoesntlikebread Yeah. I heard Connor mention it on one of his streams.
Gigguk basically said everything that needed to be said.
He said the bare minimum cause the other two seemed bored out of their mind
@@WiredLain_ Yeah, that too. But even Conor seemed to just go on and on about how bad naming Convention was & how bored he was in the last part of the port battle taking 7 ep when in reality it was 2 episode only ending with an iconic scene. It's honestly a Cluster fuck.
I genuinely, genuinely.. I can't believe this. Yall got the golden goose of Anime Podcast topics, the ending of Attack on Titan.
