Gotta love that a guy tells his wife. Tells her to keep a secret, and kills himself on the same patch of land and they're just like "nah, can't be him."

Gyllström killed himself after his wife died on cancer in hospital. And his wife did tell this confession to two different people which she trusted. And why Gylströms wife did not tell anybody earlier? Valdemar threaten to harm their children if she would tell. Gylström also was in the war and it was well known fact that it changed his personality to more violent way. Everyone who knew him was afraid of him.

Lake Bodom killer was most likely Valdemar Gyllström. It was well known fact, that he did not like the teens to camp there. Someone also brought flowers once a year to the place of the killings..That person was propably Gyllströms wife. Valdemar also confessed to his wife of being the killer..And also he killed himself near to the place where the 3 teens were killed. I think it is the best bet but not 100%..

@@iainbanks7415 Thanks for your comment. Sometimes movies are pretty close what could be reality, but often it is not the case. For example the zodiac could be Arthur Leigh Allen. He is still one of the main suspects. But Jack the ripper was hardly a royal conspiracy..I think lake bodom movie is more on the fantasy side of it..

All of the main 3 suspects have allegedly confessed at some point. It's not clear wether Gyllström committed suicide or not -- and even if he did that doesn't prove he murdered the teens.

Gustafsson did it, no doubt in my mind. He got his injuries when fighting with others. He had no stabbing wounds, others had, his injuries were all in front of his body. Why someone else would had tried to hide his shoes?.....Our prosecutors office is, and has been very weak and incompetent for long time. (if we're to assume Nils Gustafsson is innocent): It's unlikely the attacker spared him on purpose + Gustafsson says he has amnesia, and they got attacked while sleeping inside a tent, with that logic it makes sense that he doesn't know who attacked them.

What if it was not the work of one man, but more?! What if Gustafson teamed up with someone else ? I can’t see how a single person (let alone a teenager) would be physically capable to murder three teenagers… no matter how strong he is, he is outnumbered , and would be taking a huge risk … the only similar (solved) case I know off are the four teenage French girls who were raped and murdered by two brothers (look up affaire Jourdain) and even in that case, though the perpetrators were fairly tall and strong men, they had to take each girl alone while leaving the others in the trunk …

Gustafsson should be ruled out as a suspect simply over the fact that the injuries he sustained were so severe that no person could possibly inflict them on themselves, I mean he was leaking brain fluid from his nose, and his face was broken and cut to the bone. No way a drunken teen with such injuries could kill 3 other people.
I am quite sure that the murderer was Assmann, if the claims of him being a KGB spy are true it would explain the police doing such a shitty job investigating him, seeing that at the time the political climate between Finland and Russia was really intense. Assmann had something he could use as leverage to get the police to look away.

Assmann was suspected for committing every other murder in Finland at the time, and he loved it, often even added water to the mill on purpose. Not exactly difficult to find some foreign nazi guy suspicious.
Nils' injuries could be explained by the other 3 teens fighting back. The doctors that treated him have said there's no injury that explains his amnesia & being unconscious for so long -- and they even accused him of faking unconsciousness. Nils is also known for having lied/exaggerated his injuries in interviews.
