In this clip, OJ da Juiceman reflected on recording “Make Tha Trap Say Aye” and how he had to work the record for two years before it caught fire. He said that’s his biggest hit to date but he wasn’t sure it would reach its potential after the two year grind to push it. OJ da Juiceman also talked about signing a record deal and only receiving an advance of $10K.

On God make the trap say aye song was the first domino that led to the sound of the modern trap music genre. Rap music was different before then. I know there’s other music that inspired Gucci/OJ/Zay, though their sound is what inspired the entire modern trap genre and make the trap say aye is the one that set it off
Even if not given the deserved credit, oj/gucci/zay/mike will was the corner stone of modern trap music. Sounds like an exaggeration but if you were around then and saw the trends that follow you know it
And honestly, another trill fact, everyone watching the mixtape space and watchin gotti go from just a nobody in the mixtapes to more mainstream awareness knows damn way he was following in their footsteps tryna do a similar thing so it’s just funny to see that beef because shit, all the youngins when I grew up know. Plus, what got gotti out of the underground to elevated was Gucci bricks and pure cocaine with gucci, yeah he had some solo mixtape bangers but we all know that sound was inspired by the bricksquad take over. It honestly was like what g-unit was for the north but for the south.
