I've just done some online research on the name Ellie: "Ellie is almost always used as a girl's name, but it's similar to the masculine name Eli".
So, perhaps the husbands name is meant to be Eli? 🤔

I could be wrong, but I think they may have meant "Ali" because Eli is pronounced Eel-eye, and they did use "Ali" once near the end of the story.
