    For those of you who also hate midges I've got a great fly for messing with trouts' heads. After a thread base tie a bit of monofiliment with 2 or three knots around the shank; secure with a tie or two of thread. Fish....

    I love this video a workmen like a approach to entomology. Taking the mystery out of what can be a very complicated subject. I have been behind the fly for over 50ty years. I managed to survive those elitist from Central PA hovering over a fly box on a lime stone stream making a life and death decision. Honestly picking a bug is more about life cycle then sticking to your choice. Ever see someone changing flies every 30 seconds? Knock it off for the love of God just fish! Please....... here is how you pick a bug life cycle, size and color. Example: Pmd= flash back pheasant tail, the actual PMD fly(little yellow fly). There all done don't get all hung on names size shape color and FISH!

    Big stone fly hatch is comeing to an end here in pa. Been alot of fun! There was a huge caddis fly hatch. Biggest i have ever seen yesterday. But, the trout were not targeting them top water. Seen 2 rises in 6 hours yesterday. Been fishing the stone fly hatch that was decent. But, i was seeing 10 rises every 5 min. And crushing them on drys. My fly hooks were covered in the little tubes they came out off there were so many.
    Is there a reason for them not targeting them topwater?
    Might just have been munching on the emergers since there were so many i guess...

    • @HugeFlyFisherman
      @HugeFlyFisherman  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah, they were probably just eating underwater because it's easier for them.
      Many moons ago, someone said to me, "You could have sparrows jumping in the water, but if the fish aren't eating them it doesn't mean shit." That really stuck with me.
