I'm a crab fisherman that fishes out of Astoria/Warrenton. These are the guys that watch over me and make me feel safe. These are our angels
Not only does the Coast Guard protect our coasts and save lives at sea, these courageous heroes have served in every war the United States has been involved in. True patriots!
You will never hear a boater calling to defund the coast guard, unless they are doing something illegal.
Kind of the same thing applies to people calling to defund the police.
@@roysokolowski7234 no one wants to defund the police they just want reform
@@Xzrohrh If they want to reform the police they would say "reform the police". The simple fact is there are many people that want to defund the police, and some that want to abolish the police, what they don't like is the pushback on the phrase defund the police.
@@roysokolowski7234 Shut up Roy, off topic
@@Xzrohrh no, people wanted to defund the police. Know we are seeing the results of that. Criminals being released mere hrs of committing crimes, violent crime has spiked, entire departments are walking away, etc. reformin the police is one thing. Defunding is another, and nobody knew what defunding meant. Explain how you take money from a department, yet expect them to do their jobs, get there in a speedy fashion, etc. explain how a department is supposed to get body cams, tasers, less lethal weapons, training, when you take money from the department?
Seeing Mr. Tucker fighting back tears when talking about how they saved all their lives has me fighting back tears, too. Near death experiences are something you cannot explain unless you’ve actually lived through it. He knew they were dead without the Coast Guard. I’m so happy they’re alive.
I am a commercial fisherman from just a few miles down the Oregon coast. We all love the USCG SAR units.
I am a rec fisherman and I echo your statement!
I hope you have a radio like that first guy!
I've crossed the bar in a Bertram 34 out of Ilwaco a few times. It was really a comfort knowing the Coasties were there. Could never understand those folks who tried crossing in small boats. It could go from passable to dangerous with the changing of the tide.
These young men and women represent America at it's finest. Speachless with so much praise and admiration in my heart.
👍🏼 Have been very impressed with all the USCG personnel we have met, on cutters, in the air, and elsewhere! Professionals!
I’m so grateful they started this one in Oregon! Love and Respect the Coast Guard! So much history!!
Cape Disappointment is in WA state.
Roger Airgood oops 🙊 I’m sorry! Thank you for pointing that out to me. I appreciate it!
@@LtgRogerAirgood but the airfield for the helos are just across the river in warrenton, oregon. i live about 5 miles from cape disappointment.
👍🏼 Semper Paratus!
@@sandramorrell8897 Yeah, the fog is great.
I live on the Oregon Coast. God Bless our Coast Guard!
that Capt did a great job of communicating. panic is contagious, but so is calmness. if you are calm as a leader, your men will be too
My daughter, 13 years old, now wants to join the coast guard thanks to these videos. You guys are true heroes. Thank you all!
Tell her to start working out now. I do not think people understand the rigorous physical abilities they need to have as well as a incredible dedication and knowledge.
Trying to get my granddaughter to do the same
She's presently thinking AIR FORCE ROTC
Good but not the Coasties
It's the only branch of service set up to SAVE lives, rather than TAKE them.
Tell her to apply to the Coast Guard Academy. Become an officer and make more $$$. Enlisted life for females coasties is rough, and you don't see many make it more than a few years. But there are TONS of female officers, just a heads up
You (she) should know there's.. "up to $75,000" a signing bonus right now.
If I wasn't a 110 years old, broken down and completely out of shape? (and if Joe _'potato brain'_ Biden wasn't the 'commander and cheat'?) I'd probably sign up.
My dad served in the Coast Guard out of Astoria 40 years ago. I've been to all the light houses on the Oregon Coast, and oh the stories I've heard. These guys are amazing! I'm so glad they are doing this out of Astoria, because these are really deadly waters. Most people see the beauty, but the storms and winter, are deadly. Just imagine Lewis and Clark, if you've never been to the Oregon Coast, put it on your bucket list! It's got so much history! Start in rocky Astoria and go all the way down through the beautiful sand dunes of Florence into the giant Redwoods. It's just beautiful!
Columbia River is no joke. Lost 2 friends boating. Thankfully the coast guard was able to find them so we could give them proper burials.
My sincere condolences.
Sorry for your loss.. I thank God have never lost anyone I know out there yet..
I'm so sorry ❤
The Columbia River Bar /Ilwhaco Bar... some of the most dangerous, man-killing water in the world. I have a buddy who was stationed at Astoria /Hammond Station in the USCG and he's told me stories of pretty large fishing boats that went from one Mayday call to sunk in less than 15 minutes.
And I'll tell you something else.... I'm an Army veteran and a proud cavalry trooper. I served with the 11th ACR patrolling the Iron Curtain in the way back and I had good reason to be proud of myself. But there is NO ONE in US governmental service who doesn't respect a CG bo'sun who is coxswain of his own boat. That's a straight up badass job and anybody who thinks different is just plain wrong...
Our Military Service Men and Women are all Hero's in my Book. Firefighters, Police. They all put their lives on the line to help anyone in need. These Coastguard Rescuers are just incredible. Alaska, and Cape Disappointment in, Northwest Oregon, have some of the wildest weather Rescues. I so respect the hard work and courageous abilities they all have.
That 4/4 grab, and saving the boat.... Damn. Those are the ones you dream about. That radio is the best damn purchase that guy ever made.
So proud to be a mother of a USCG Coastie and soon to be a BM. A prayerful life comes handy when one of your boys is member of the US Military. I’m also proud of the entire men and women in uniform!!!
I almost cried seeing those 4 get saved. I can't imagine how wonderful those Coast Guard guys felt saving those people. I know those 4 were so thankful.
Thank you too everyone that has served in the service!! Truly grateful for everything you all do for us all. Your all very inspirational men and women, "I Salute You!!!".
You can tell these guys have been through a little more than some other crews.. much respect to all USCG!
So awesome to see the show in Astoria, Oregon!! We want more episodes from here!!♥️♥️♥️♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
My cousin a retired SCPO from the USCG has told me about the danger and extreme peril that can happen with rescues along the West Coast, I've actually heard horror stories from where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean and it truly is the graveyard of the Pacific cause when the ocean and the river meet you essentially have a whirlpool that can form and anything caught in it is almost certainly doomed! Thank God for the USCG!
I live in Astoria, and next time I go out on the bar I will have one of those radios
No doubt. I've fished there a few times and it turns into a washing machine in the blink of an eye. Dude's out there there trolling in a 10ft dinghy with a 5hp. More balls than brains.
See my latest post
Me a portlander watching this in awe knowing how insane the oceans and rivers are here
Getting to watch them train is very exciting. You walk past the coast guard station when you hike up to the lighthouse
Salem Oregon here. More of the PNW show please! Top notch stuff folks!
Thank you! New episodes starting tomorrow!
The maritime museum in Astoria is a must visit. Get lunch across the street at the bowpicker. This is one of my favorite areas.
It's not the same since Custard King changed hands and the Dragon Burger went away :(
Bowpicker is that fish and chips place with fried tuna right? Theyre pretty good and worth the wait
@@Stickmanvan2 yep.
You are so right! I’ve been several times and there’s always something to learn. Been past the Coast Guard station many times and have always wanted to know if they give tours.
I lived in Ilwaco, Wa and worked in Warrenton, Or for a time. I enjoyed seeing these in action and enjoyed the history in the many museums. Awesome place! I even spent time on a tuna boat. I know what these experience in the raw.
Hats off to the fishers and the rescuers.
I love the US Coast Guard! They are BADASS!
Thank you Coast Guard for all you do!
These guys and gals of the coast guard are hero's
Thank you for this episode as district 13 will be my location
Be safe!!
Semper Paratus & good luck! 👍🏼
I'm totally impressed by how calm the distressed vessel's skipper was. That's why I have a cell phone and a handheld VHF in a waterproof case on board my fishing vessel.
I'm glad you're taking the time to show us these can't wait for more
The pacific can produce some gnarly maritime operating conditions that's for sure! We are all extremely grateful for our Coasties! In my short lifetime I have been on several boats needing USCG assistance. Six different times they've helped us get back to shore. They are always top notch professional lifesavers. Sometimes I think maybe I would have enjoyed the Coast Guard more than the Marine Corps. Lots of great training opportunities for those interested in a less than ordinary lifestyle and career.
six times?
@reverse thrust I was just curious if that was what he meant.. Relax brother.. it's ok man.. don't get you blouse in a twist.. It is rough out there.. dangerous as heck.. he has balls to keep going out.. I just was wondering if he meant six time..
@@tinkmarshino
I know its stunning to consider but his actual words were "Six different times they've helped us get back to shore." So I really think he meant SIX times.
So excited to see this version! Absolute regard and respect for these amazing heros who do this work, both here and every port they work from
Yesssss I’ve been waiting for this! Lettsss goooo!!
I’ve been going to the Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven MI since I was 6. I’ve always loved the show they put on there but what’s always more impressive is the caliber of people the coast guard employs. I would love to see a Great Lakes Coast Guard episode!
🧡💙USCG! You ALL are amazing! We are SO lucky to have such outstanding people watching out for our wellbeing!🧡💙
No words for the joy I have to be able to watch these episodes now!💛PNW
Damn, that first case was freaking amazing! Literally gave me the chills! These guys don't even realize how amazing each of them truly are! It's not just the survivors lives they save, there's countless loved ones not having to receive that devestating news! Those 4 men are from a really small town in Oregon, Dundee! CRAAAY, I grew up in Dayton like 15 mins away! Happy you guys are safely back home, & you had these men there to see you got back home! ♥️🧡💛💜💚💙
i love the coast guard they are there when you need them the most.
@Captain ZeroF's the coast guard are guarding angels
Damn, that first part was intense. Another 5 minutes those guys would not have made it.
Was in the sea scouts when I was younger, and growing up in Portland in a maritime family you heard and told stories of the Columbia River Bar. A truly nasty place.
These guys are rockstars. Coming from a retired U.S. Paratrooper. Great Channel.
Thank you for your service and thank you for watching!
I lived on the coast for decades.
I lived watching these people train. Very dedicated to saving mariners whatever the cost.
buoy 10 and the surrounding waters of the pacific are not for the beginners .. oh they may get out and back a few times when it is nice out (maybe) But if your not paying attention you could be in a lot of trouble fast.. it is dangerous for the experienced the ameture has no business being out there. These folks are freakin damn heroes... Well done! carry on!
Thanks for serving our country. You folks are worthy of the title, heroes.
Our family has a ship , the cutter, Midgett , named after our Mom's family. There is an extensive history of ocean related savings of lives attributed to the family. Quite an honor indeed.
I have so much love, respect and admiration for the Coast Guard. They are amazing. God Bless them.
Best in the world. Thank You
You made me cry… I am so proud of the USCG. You ROCK.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
crazy that these were made like 6 years ago though, really enjoy these series
My wife and I Have loved binge watching all of these!
Being avid boaters, we are wondering what the USCG does to the cabin of the helo after getting so much salt water in it from the survivors and swimmers? Do they rinse it out each time after they land?
Yes, they have intensive corrosion prevention maintenance procedures.
Who are the three idiots that voted a thumbs down on this video? USCG saved my life and the life of a close friend in February of 1996 after we spent 52 hours on a capsized boat of the island of Oahu in Hawaii.
The coasties rocks
I do not envy your position, when do you think they'll do a series on the USCG in Hawaii?
USCG saved me too, i was a few miles west of Lanai, Hawaii, Hanging onto a hatch cover from a fishing boat, i was only in the water 5 hours, The Helicopter came and pulled me out and Saved my life, So much Gratitude and Respect for the USCG..
Correction, now 27 idiots.
That's America at its greatest, thanks to all service members.
The Coast Guard are the real heroes of the armed forces.
It's interesting the difference between the Alaska CG and the other CG shows. Alaskans are so humble.
I'm crying! The caption is amazing!
What radio was that? Looks like a nice one
After watching the episodes from Alaska, Florida and now here- other than the incredible professionalism and amazing skill of all of the Coast Guard members featured, the one thing you can count on, is if there are persons in the water, there’s a good chance they’re hanging on to a cooler floating next to them lol. Thank God for the Coast Guard!!!!!!!!! ❤️🚁⚓️
My ex husband was stationed at Cape Disappointment the stuff they did was incredible
Lcdr Jim Harkins from CC Alaska, guess he got to cold LOL
haha good point
It is neat to see those that I'm familiar with being in AK that have since transferred to OR or FL. 👍
Keep posting this I love it. Seen all the episodes
wow can't believe I just binge watched this, coast guard florida and coast guard Alaska...
Coast Guard goes full in without a thought for their safety
Bless these wonderful.men and women
SEMPER PARATUS ❤❤
Yaaaayyyyy! More Coast Guard!
Can’t watch this stuff before bed!! Gets my blood pumping!!
That is OUR guards, guarding our coast and the entrance to the Columbia River.
I live in Astoria where the guys are stationed and do their great work. No one else is going to save you when you are clawing off the lee shore. The Coasties are the best. Just ask anyone who works out on the water. Hats off to the USCG.
I love the Coast Guard
Some of the bravest men and women in the world
After crossing the 4 major bars in Oregon several times in bad weather on tug boats and having the coast guard on station makes for a better feeling making the crossing if things go wrong, Much respect to the men and women of the USCG.
I had a unique privilege to watch these men in action it was absolutely stunning
God, the Colombia River bar makes the SF bay look almost calm.
The first rescue was dramatic and just in time. But I have to question the thinking of the crew going out to the Columbia Bar in such a tiny vessel.
great job, great video, yeah coast guard.
All the time I have watched, I heard them call out “BARK, BARK, BARK,”! Thought how odd????🙄🙄🙄 On this episode I heard it “ MARK, MARK, MARK”. Too funny 😂
I like how they focus more on actual boats in the Pacific Northwest one, unlike the Alaska and Florida ones
I grew up 14 miles from the bar on an island in the Columbia, Puget Island. ...This is home.
CG, you are amazing ❤
I was so glad all 4 of the fishermen survived. I cannot imagine being in freezing open ocean, waiting on being saved. I don’t mess around with the ocean. I will keep my big butt where it belongs. Ankle deep on the shore 😂
Great job USCG!
Oh gosh can’t wait!!! There’s not any “shows” on coast guards channel just clips.. I will soooo be watching!!! As soon as it’s on!
They have cost guard Alaska
RUclips has full episodes of CG Alaska and CG Florida
Checkout all the other episodes on this channel
Pranker 123 ive seen all of those on this channel as well as coast guard Florida. This is the only channel that actually plays full coast guard episodes from all over
gotta love those coast guard guys risking it all - must be such a thrilling job but you gotta be a pure badass to do what they do - what a great team
It's a blast unless you get sea sick. Then it sucks..
Imagine what a heady experience it must be to hold the reins as commanding officer in one of the most dangerous bar crossings in the world and not being thirty years old. Looks don't always bear the person's true age of course. The lieutenant could be under 25 or more than 30. He and his team are doing an exemplary job for the boating community.
You mean the guy at 16:49 right? I think he looks around 30-35.
These are our Coasties here in the Warrenton/Astoria, Oregon and Ilwaco, Washington area. We absolutely LOVE 💘 our Coasties in this area. Both they and their families do so very much to serve the community in which they live.
However, I felt really bad for the guys that were burned, because I know exactly what kind of medical care that is available in this area. It would have been much better for their sake if they would have been transported to Portland, where the level of care available to deal with burns far exceed anything available in our area.
Just the same, I cannot say enough good things about the men and women in the USCG that serve in our area. They are truly the best of the best, as we have the most dangerous river bar in the world.
Super interesting to see the pilot, who is now a coach at my school, flying a cg helicopter. I’ve heard stories but this is interesting to see.
People underestimate the power of the ocean. It's hard to fathom that power until you feel it firsthand. I have so much respect for the coastguard, knowing they choose to do this for a profession. Thank you.
Alaska

Where to next?
ANGELS IN THE SKY🙏
Semper Paratus!!!! 66-70! Well done crew!!!
Congratulations 🎉 Job well done! Be a lifelong learner! Your family must be proud!!!
We lost my uncle out of Tillamook Bay in 1970 when he had a mechanical failure and was under tow by another trawler and a 44’ MLB.
It took them nine days to recover his remains.
It’s all great when someone is saved, but they quickly blame the deceased when things go wrong.
I was there in that area. I am so happy and so proud!!!!!
Utmost respect to the US Coast. They really do it all.
From confronting Dangerous drug smugglers, to some of the seas finest mariners, and."air asset" fliers, to compassionate rescuers...
Sorta like sea Rangers... Defineatley some of today's "Renessance Men"!
Right in my back yard!!
God Bless the coast guard!!
Watching this from the Cape, awesome!
Does anyone know which brand/model that radio is?
At quick glance, guessing ICOM? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dang, they rescued Scotty Kilmer from the water, now they get to hear him talk about electrolysis on the flight back in.
Willingly to into stormy water and jump into the water alone is pure guts.
Proud mom of a Coastie!! Semper Paratus!! 🇺🇸
This is going to be awesome
