- Sleeping Dogs was pretty legit and had way more things going for it than many other similar games of the time, so what went wrong? With so many fans and a name that is still remembered to this day, why haven’t we even gotten as much as a whiff of a sequel? What the hell happened to Sleeping Dogs?

One of my favorite games of all time. Sucks that we didn’t get a sequel
I enjoyed the hell out of it, not every thing needs a sequel.
We dont need a sequel would have been nice though, but i have a feeling it would be way too futuristic or wouldn't have the same feel as before

The mission of Winston's wedding is still one of the best mission I've ever seen. I actually felt like I was playing a Netflix show
Yeah that mission broke my heart, fazed me, how quickly it turned from such a beautiful day to a blood bath, very few things I've played that made me feel as tense as that mission did.
I still contend it was a more visceral and shocking wedding/bloodbath than the red wedding from game of thrones.
I was really angry
You could see death bodies outside the church covered in a white sheet and a bunch of cops outside after that mission.
Shame it was kinda seen coming from a mile away

i thought sleeping dogs was ahead of its time graphically back on ps3 was amazing when looking at other ps3 games
How about multiple playable protagonists that players can switch between similar to gta 5. The protagonists can be at least 3 different members of different law enforcement agencies, ie a soldier or marine, a police officer and an fbi agent(or any related organizations or agency depending on which country the game takes place in)
@@retrojericho1425 well you can say the lighting effects were great for that time but the issue i had was that the city looked a bit repititve and unimaginative but the gameplay was on point
I would like them include all of Hong Kong with a big skill tree . More animations for the kung fu styles. The worst one was the song chun style because it only went for the chain punches. Drunken style was done more justice but the animations always ended up the same no matter what

Sleeping Dogs was the perfect realization of the complexities between balancing undercover work with blending in within a criminal organization. The story doesn't get the credit it deserves. You could see him trying to live in both worlds and towards the end being conflicted with the power and respect he acquired as he rose up through the ranks of the criminal underworld.

Because SE has stupid high expectations for their brands and sleeping dogs just couldn't sell as much as they wanted. It didn't help that reviewers wrote it off as "another gta clone"

Call me hipster, but I actually slightly preferred Sleeping Dogs over GTA5. I liked the tight city more 'cause it felt lived in to the extreme, the characters are far more memorable and their stories left a huge impression on me. If you're on the fence about playing it, DO! It's a fantastic game that was relatively overlooked.
Nope you're totally right the cities in SD felt unique and with stuff to do around every corner gta v city felt ok for the most part and wasn't engaging besides a few side missions and some collectibles no wonder why half of the map or 1/4 of it is empty or with nothing to do which rockstar could have updated but didn't

I slept on Sleeping Dogs for a long time (no pun intended) but, when I finally played it, I had so much fun with it. I was really hoping for a sequel but, eventually forgot about it.
I literally had it in my house for like 2 years before I actually played the thing lol

@@j.m.1928 GTA IV was boring.. Plus Liberty City isn't a good map imo, that's the reason I didn't like III that much either, open world games have to have good maps! If they're just set in a city that mostly all looks the same it gets stale pretty quick, but that's just me.

I like both to be honest the combat in sleeping dogs is really good although GTA 5 is something I can’t get enough of it’s amazing and people say that the combat in GTA 5 isn’t all that good but if you learn the game well enough you can make it almost as good as sleeping dogs combat

Just finished this game today. One of the BEST and UNDERRATED games I've ever played. They story is so fucking good and the gameplay is unique. People who call it another "Gta clone" have no fucking clue what they are talking about. This game is NOT a Gta clone. It's totally it's own thing and a good one. Let's hope that one day in the future, we might get a SD2 or remake of this amazing gem.

If any company does decide to pick-up this franchise, I think rather than making a sequel they should make a prequel much like Yukuza 0- which is commonly regarded as better than the original Yakuza 1, and one of the best in the franchise due to it gripping story telling and the depths of all the characters.

Literally playing through Sleeping Dogs right now am I’m so impressed. On the remastered version the graphics still hold up and the gameplay mechanics are actually fun as hell and don’t feel dated at all.

Another amazing game that was killed off because of the "sales projection" bullshit that plagues this industry. It doesn't matter that it sold very well for what was a new IP and was acclaimed like crazy. Instead of taking another risk and give the developers one more try to really follow up that spark they got on the first release, publishers will kill something off because some idiots in a board room over project things. I cannot wait for this trend to die.

Clint Paris I have finished sleeping dogs a few times, I have done all of the face missions, all the police ones, all the main ones, bought a few cars, did all the fight clubs, I have done almost everything you can do in the game. The only good thing about the game was the melee combat, the driving sucked. The is no air vehicles, only a few guns, story wasn’t that good either, no buyable properties, only things you can buy is cars, clothes and street food. And it’s kinda boring since I have 2 million HK and can’t buy crap with it because there is nothing to buy
I remember coming home from school and went to play straight away till late at night. Its heartbreaking to hear that they are not making a second.
I’m glad someone was finally able to talk about this. I was bummed when I found out that UFG shut down in 2015.
It basically didn’t get the attention it needed. Sadly, Sleeping Dogs 2 never entered full production.
Honestly open world games have less competition since Rockstar isn't releasing anything soon

I’d love to hear anything about a second game but it’s a shame we won’t be getting it.

Sleeping Dogs is one of the most underrated games of all time. I personally loved it as it combined the game play elements of GTA and the Arkham series in one package. Here's hoping and wishing that it could return with a sequel one day

I just played through this game just a few days ago. One of my favorite games ever.
I love this game. I like how they put an exp system as it encourages players to explore and do side missions. I think I collected 8 jade statues before the wedding mission and I grind the police camera thing before the wedding mission. Let's just say I'm pretty op when doing the triad missions and I ain't complaining.

Underrated game and underrated freaking music!! Kerrang! Radio playlist was my jam for weeks after I finished this game!
I never got around to this game at the time it was released and just recently installed it on PS4 to try for the first time while on lockdown. Game is really good and has a lot of detail in its environment, I'm surprised by the unique npc animations in some locations. You can tell a lot of love and care was put into the making of this game. It's a shame it was so overlooked

This game is amazing, it mixed open world action with a beat em up game, the combat is the best in this genre by far
I love this game and it was very, very underrated for sure. I always thought when I first played it that it felt unbelievably familiar. Then I found out that it was meant to be a True Crime game and thought that's why the combat, driving and overall story felt so familiar to me. Absolutely great game and a true shame that we didn't get a sequel.

Played this again recently. Hope a big publisher pics up the team that did this game, and gives them a chance to make a new one. Its a fun experience, good story, with great combat, and pretty good driving.
I love this game. Great characters, nice storylines, and a good music soundtrack. Definitely one of my favorites and a must play for open world game lovers 👍🏼

just started playing this again yesterday, needs a serious comeback.

Was so close to finishing it years ago when it first came out, but never got around to it.

I literally just dreamed about playing this game on PC.

-Cool features
-Cool combat system
-Asian GTA (I'm asian)
-Nice plot
-The wedding mission
Truly fell in love with this game at the time it came out such middle school nostalgia
Man sleeping dogs 2 would be somethin for the ps5! That would be insane!
