The One-Off Villains in "Yu Yu Hakusho" are either sometimes there to Put-Over the Good Guys to show their Talent or they are just Basic Canon Fodder to give the Good Guys some more Push into the Spotlight.

The thing with Gouki is that I believe he was supposed to represent an Oni from Japanese mythology, where Oni had super strength and incredibly tough skin, and they were capable of biting through solid steel. It would fit with the powers Gouki displayed (super strength & and a nearly invulnerable body). Gouki in particular would have likely filled the role of "Red Oni", as he was violent and aggressive by nature, while their counterpart, the "Blue Oni" tend to be calmer and more methodical & intelligent about how they act (so, in a sense, Kurama and/or Hiei could have counted as the "Blue Oni" to Gouki's status as the "Red Oni").

His explanation of why Kuwabara won the race through Genkai's forest, "We let ourselves have to much fun in there." implies that he was enjoying the earlier scene where he's karate chopping wolves that are simply hunting/protecting their territory. I saw some of the YuYu Hakusho manga and a little of the Anime but my friend loves this series. He has the manga and he watched the Anime. Cool video. ^_^
I have a few copies of the YYH manga in Japanese. They're random ones, and I don't read Japanese, but Kurama is on the cover of those books and he's easy on the eyes 😍

I would think Kuwamarutaro would have made the list more than fisher demon. He had those spade spheres that morphs his body into armor forms after his body gets damage to adapt to an enemy.
sayaka looks similar to Rika/Bernkastel. It even becomes more apparent that she's similar when you mentioned that she's a totally different character by displaying more of a dark side in the manga. Not only does she look similar and act similar she sound similar. I wonder if the crater of the win they cry series what kind of Low key inspired by this character?

I watched another video on this channel that revealed that it wasn't just them two on that team. (That usually consisted of 5 fighters.) Pretty good list. Though it should be pointed out that Zero's fire is actually supposed to be incredibly powerful. The reason it doesn't seem that way is because of the speed in which Hiei took him out but even that was suppose to be see as a big deal. Since yeah the reason that Hiei never busted out the dragon of the darkness flame until then was because of the cost of that level of power at his current rank. He did it not having another option and it would of cost him use of his arm if he wasn't able to have it healed during the team Masho fight and only learned to full control it in the training right before Team Toguro. Then again that did feel a bit like one of those weird anime things where "character is made to look really cool and powerful but then we swerve it next time to take away from that moment to try and make that enemy who was seemingly defeated feel more meaningful then they actually were" sort of bits. However I do feel like there are a fair amount of YYH one off "villains" on this list worth talking about here that I will do so. Chinpo - For he is the ultimate wanderer... heh okay guess I can quote Yu Yu Hakusho abridged too but there are some more serious ones you overlooked. For instance Miyuki - This is a character only given like... a 5 minute fight that did make an impression though not really the best one in hindsight. See Miyuki was part of the Demon Triad under Togouro and the only member of that group with any speaking lines where unlike the other two members who were respectively fast or really strong, Miyuki actually did have a drag out fight with Yusuke actually showing off some fighting moods and even her hair strangling powers. But it's really the "joke" or at least twist with her that seemed novel at the time but may of aged poorly. See Miyuki was a transgendered demon who though appeared and acted like a woman was born a man and still had a penis. And Yusuke's whole point to her before knocking her out was to "not try and live in two lives" and "get the surgery" which... again was probably trying to seem progressive at the time but now comes off as a rather crude joke in hindsight. Especially since Yusuke only found that out feeling her breasts and package which yeah Yusuke's a creep like that but usually only went that far with Keiko who you know at least deep down did like like him. But yeah just finding out someone's gender isn't what they say and saying "oh committ" does feel pretty messed up to hear today. I mean the dub just trying to claim she "was faking her injuries" is also bunk but this is still a highly sensetivie topic I don't think should really be the joke of a children's manga if you can't get it right. Granted was writen in the late 80's early 90's but still messed up and what sticks out about this characters so much. Risho - I guess it's harder to signal out the leader of the team as a one off villain but hey we do never really see him again plus though as cool as kurama and Gama's battle is I like his more. I dig the idea this guy was in his hood throughout the entire match and was actually much more rationale and logical pointing out to Bokken "hey don't keep taunting Yusuke by beating up an injured knocked out Kurama that won't go anywhere". And then using a techniclaity to get out of even fighting him. But that leading to his fight with Kuawabara who yeah kind of gets shafted in the Dark Tournament arc having only two wins. The manga's especially bull at this as it treats this win as more of a joke but the anime is better actually showing off more of Rishid's power and Kuwabara fighting against him. Granted Risho isn't the most interesting combantant being an elemental earth user with a ground rock shield for offense/defense but it still looked impressive and again I am glad they had him as the leader and probably at least second strongest (since Jin was supposed to be the ace) so Kuawabara's victory here does feel more earned especially again in the anime. I guess he wasn't on the list because he was technically on the top 10 "final bosses" list but it's hard to see him as a final boss honestly and even so if there was one character I could see on both lists it would be him. Sniper - I get the point that yeah most of the seven psychics aren't so much one shot villains especially since we see them throughout the arc but I do feel the ones that don't have as much connection to the story and really are only important in their fight should count for this list and besides Gourmet the one who really fits that bill is Sniper. The power of just being able to home in on things is really cool and I like the more serious silent approach this guy have which especially for a manga villain at the time was so rare; he didn't blather on about how his abilities work. You just saw them in motion and watched the fight go down, until Hiei came in for surpirse take down. IMHO the series really did feel sort of lame in how it wouldn't let the demons kill off any of the human characters unless they were a villain or it was a technicality so Hiei despite stabbing the guy didn't off him but it was still a cool moment regardless. Well hope you liked that little list man yours was still good.
4:58. To be fair, Musashi mentioned that he hunted down demons; so that’s probably why he’s listed as good. He also gave Kuwabara a chance to walk away before their fight began.
yuyu hakusho is a 10/10 anime. the fights were the best, the ost is one of the best in anime imo, and the english dub just tops it off along with the characters. ill never forget this anime, sometimes i wish i could forget it so i can discover it and rewatch it 😂
I finally got a change to watch this and it was great. I was expecting Seiryu on there because he was the #2 of the Four Saint Beasts and got one shot so badly he got memed out of existence by Hiei.
Seiryu is in a weird position since he's poised to essentially be the sub-boss, but he's outdone by Byakko in that sense, and he's outdone by Genbu on being a cool, easy victory. I can only remember Seiryu talking about his powers, but never actually landing any hits.

Even if they were minor characters, this is Togashi as it's finest. -Sieru was a bait and at the end became brief spoiler of thing to come for Hiei. -Uraurashima was thematically correct to exploit something already established, Yoko Kurama, that became later a cool power up for the later episodes. -Gouki was weak enough to serve as the introduction for this arc, after this the show started to become more a battle centered. -Gourmet/Toguro, we already established that the Toguro brothers were weak compared to this new thread but seeing one of them being beaten by the heroes so easily makes you think that they at least have a chance against Sensui (Spoilers, they didn't an Togashi did something that he pretty much makes fun of it in the later arc). -Sayaka was minor character but they gave you another perspective of how ghost works in the Spiritual arc that makes me nostalgic because it was a very fun adventure.
@@ShoXwavee if you watched the whole anime or read the manga then you'll remember Yusuke died at the Sensui arc then resurrect because of the Mazoku blood line, anyway, Third Season there's a scene when Yusuke visits the first spirit (Kuroko) detective who lives with her Husband and daughter, after the conversation 2 demons appear and tell Yusuke about Raizen, while they were there Kuroko and her husband hear the whole story and she asks him "Won't that work for one of your books?" and the guy basically says "Nah, it's kind of silly" if that wasn't a self insert of Togashi then I don't know what it was, but at least the final part of the manga was a nice way to say good-bye.

Actually Gama's Make Up of the Seal doesn't require him to use his blood directly. He stated himself he should've done that from the start rather than the weight curse. Gama only did that because he didn't have the strength left to mark Kurama thus used his blood as a short hand since it could easily splatter on Kurama without hitting him and Kurama would be none the wiser.

I think the knife guy would have been a problem for Yusuke and Kuwabara since at that point they weren't used to fighting like that. In fact, I'd argue Rando was more willing to play their school yard fight game.
I dont think genbu's rock was actually red, I think that was so the viewer could tell. Kurama said that rock gave off a different energy signature than the others. So without his spiritual awareness it would be a lot harder to find.
Zeru was merely a fire user. Hiei is a bonafide fire apparition. Fighting fire with fire only works when your fire is significantly stronger than the one you're up against. Otherwise you're just an idiot for using that tactic. I always thought Hiei busted out the dragon of the darkness flame becuase he felt insulted that Zeru was trying to beat him with fire of all things. As a later opponent mentioned, Zeru wasn't really worth using that technique on and he should have saved it but Hiei's pride wasn't having that.
I am actually really disappointed with this video. Not very good or entertaining which kills me because it's nice that this channel is showing YU YU Hakusho love. But again I am disappointed on this content but good job on making this video and editing it
Honestly its a pretty good list the only one I would have put in the list for another is the guy that turned his arm into an axe. Yeah not great but he had a memorable death. I would have put it above the #10 spot
Correction: Gama DID NOT die...somehow. He has 1 more appearance afterwards. He gives Kuwabara a new sword focus, and Kurama a potion that might help him tap back into Yoko Kurama. His second appearance has him without makeup on, though.
I feel Karasu did more than enough to be above the "one-off villain" status since he had multiple leadup episodes and a multi-episode fight. We'll likely do a list on the "almost final boss villains" in the future since there's a lot we haven't covered, including Karasu.

Also you're wrong about Zeru. Kurama mentions that Hiei used the Dragon of the Darkness Flame because he had no choice. Zeru was an extremely powerful Demon, likely on a similar level to Suzaku and if Hiei didn't use the Dragon Zeru would've killed him.
Yup, that's my bad! When rewatching, I was so focused on the fights since that's what I was planning on talking about, I overlooked some of the more subtle lines, even though I remember Kurama saying that. I guess Hiei fooled me like he fooled the Dark Tournament audience.

Most of the dark tournament arc one of villains appear in the YYH ps2 video game, which is pretty cool to see more of them and their attacks

The power of just being able to home in on things is really cool and I like the more serious silent approach this guy have which especially for a manga villain at the time was so rare; he didn't blather on about how his abilities work. You just saw them in motion and watched the fight go down, until Hiei came in for surpirse take down. IMHO the series really did feel sort of lame in how it wouldn't let the demons kill off any of the human characters unless they were a villain or it was a technicality so Hiei despite stabbing the guy didn't off him but it was still a cool moment regardless.

4:58. To be fair, Musashi mentioned that he hunted down demons; so that’s probably why he’s listed as good. He also gave Kuwabara a chance to walk away before their fight began.
yuyu hakusho is a 10/10 anime. the fights were the best, the ost is one of the best in anime imo, and the english dub just tops it off along with the characters. ill never forget this anime, sometimes i wish i could forget it so i can discover it and rewatch it 😂
I finally got a change to watch this and it was great. I was expecting Seiryu on there because he was the #2 of the Four Saint Beasts and got one shot so badly he got memed out of existence by Hiei.
Seiryu is in a weird position since he's poised to essentially be the sub-boss, but he's outdone by Byakko in that sense, and he's outdone by Genbu on being a cool, easy victory. I can only remember Seiryu talking about his powers, but never actually landing any hits.

Even before you mentioned in this video about her difference and character what's just made me think they're definitely similar. I wonder if it's a possibility that the crater of the when they cry franchise inspired by this character?

Even if they were minor characters, this is Togashi as it's finest.
-Sieru was a bait and at the end became brief spoiler of thing to come for Hiei.
-Uraurashima was thematically correct to exploit something already established, Yoko Kurama, that became later a cool power up for the later episodes.
-Gouki was weak enough to serve as the introduction for this arc, after this the show started to become more a battle centered.
-Gourmet/Toguro, we already established that the Toguro brothers were weak compared to this new thread but seeing one of them being beaten by the heroes so easily makes you think that they at least have a chance against Sensui (Spoilers, they didn't an Togashi did something that he pretty much makes fun of it in the later arc).
-Sayaka was minor character but they gave you another perspective of how ghost works in the Spiritual arc that makes me nostalgic because it was a very fun adventure.
What did Togashi do in the later arc? I don't remember much about that arc
@@ShoXwavee if you watched the whole anime or read the manga then you'll remember Yusuke died at the Sensui arc then resurrect because of the Mazoku blood line, anyway, Third Season there's a scene when Yusuke visits the first spirit (Kuroko) detective who lives with her Husband and daughter, after the conversation 2 demons appear and tell Yusuke about Raizen, while they were there Kuroko and her husband hear the whole story and she asks him "Won't that work for one of your books?" and the guy basically says "Nah, it's kind of silly" if that wasn't a self insert of Togashi then I don't know what it was, but at least the final part of the manga was a nice way to say good-bye.

Actually Gama's Make Up of the Seal doesn't require him to use his blood directly. He stated himself he should've done that from the start rather than the weight curse. Gama only did that because he didn't have the strength left to mark Kurama thus used his blood as a short hand since it could easily splatter on Kurama without hitting him and Kurama would be none the wiser.
You may be thinking of Suzuki the clown from Team Uraotogi since he was another makeup-wearing fighter who was seen without his makeup later on

I dont think genbu's rock was actually red, I think that was so the viewer could tell. Kurama said that rock gave off a different energy signature than the others. So without his spiritual awareness it would be a lot harder to find.
Zeru was merely a fire user. Hiei is a bonafide fire apparition. Fighting fire with fire only works when your fire is significantly stronger than the one you're up against. Otherwise you're just an idiot for using that tactic. I always thought Hiei busted out the dragon of the darkness flame becuase he felt insulted that Zeru was trying to beat him with fire of all things. As a later opponent mentioned, Zeru wasn't really worth using that technique on and he should have saved it but Hiei's pride wasn't having that.

Also you're wrong about Zeru. Kurama mentions that Hiei used the Dragon of the Darkness Flame because he had no choice. Zeru was an extremely powerful Demon, likely on a similar level to Suzaku and if Hiei didn't use the Dragon Zeru would've killed him.
Yup, that's my bad! When rewatching, I was so focused on the fights since that's what I was planning on talking about, I overlooked some of the more subtle lines, even though I remember Kurama saying that. I guess Hiei fooled me like he fooled the Dark Tournament audience.
