ایک مشہور مؤرخ اور سیاح نے اپنے سفر نامہ میں لکھا ہے کہ جب سکندر اعظم آدھی دنیا فتح کرتا ہوا پنجاب کی حدود میں داخل ہوا تو دونوں فوجیں دریائے جہلم کے دونوں کنارے پر آمنے سامنے خیمہ زن ہوئیں
دونوں لشکروں کے اہلچیوں کا تبادلہ ہوا لیکن کوئ بات نہ بن سکی چنانچہ جنگ لازم ٹھہری
اور جنگ کے اصول طے کرنے کا مرحلہ ایا تو پنجاب کے لشکر نے صرف یہی ایک شرط رکھی کہ جب تک پنجاب سے ساگ کا سیزن ختم نہیں ہو جاتا تب تک جنگ نہ لڑی جائے اس دوران یونانی لشکر بھی کچھ آرام کر لے اور ہم بھی ساگ سے توانائی حاصل کر لیں
چنانچہ سفر سے تھکی ہاری یونانی فوج دریاے جہلم کے اُس پار اور پنجاب کا لشکر اِس پار خیمہ زن ہو گیا
دن گزرتے گیئے جب بھی سکندری لشکر کا قاصد جنگ کا پیغام لاتا تو جواب میں اسے ساگ کا ڈبہ تھما دیا جاتا کہ دیکھو ابھی ساگ ختم نہیں ہوا ہے لہذا طے کردہ اصول کے مطاطق جنگ نہیں لڑی جا سکتی
کئی مہینے گزر گئے لیکن ساگ ختم نہیں ہوا دوسری طرف جب یونانی لشکر جائزہ لیتا تو دریا کے دوسری طرف مسلسل آگ جلتی دکھائی دیتی دیگیں چولہے پر چڑھی دکھائی دیتیں
سکندر نے اپنے جاسوسوں سے ساگ کے بارے میں معلومات حاصل کی کہ اخر یہ ساگ ختم ہو گا جس پر جاسوسوں نے بتایا کہ جناب پنجاب میں ساگ سب سے پہلے سندھ سے متصل کے علاقے سے شروع ہوتا ہے اور ڈیڈھ مہینہ تک ساگ کا عروج رہتا ہے جیسے ہی مغربی پنجاب میں ساگ اپنے اختتامی مراحل میں پہنچتا ہے تو وسطی پنجاب سے ساگ کی سپلائی شروع ہو جاتی ہے اس طرح مہینہ دو مہینے یہ ساگ نکال جاتا ہے
جیسے ہی وسطی پنجاب سے ساگ کا خاتمہ ہوتا ہے تو مشرقی پنجاب سے لشکر کو ساگ کی کمک پہنچ جاتی ہے اور اس طرح مزید مہینہ ڈیڈھ مہینہ لگ جاتا ہے لیکن جب مشرقی پنجاب کے اخری علاقوں میں ساگ اپنے اختتامی مراحل میں ہوتا ہے تو یہ لوگ ساگ کو محفوظ کرنا شروع کر دیتے ہیں اور اگلے دو مہینے تک مزید ساگ کھاتے ہیں
سکندر نے حیرت سے اپنے جاسوس کی طرف دیکھا اور پوچھا کہ ابھی ساگ مزید کتنی دیر چلے گا ؟؟؟
جس پر مصاحب نے جواب دیا کہ مزید تین مہینے ساگ کا عروج رہے
سکندر نے ایک لمبی سانس لی اور کرسی سے ٹیک لگاتے ہوے پوچھا کہ کیا تین مہینے بعد ساگ ختم ہو جاے گا
جی حضور جاسوس بلکل نے جھٹ سے جواب دیا
سکندر نے جوش سے کہا تو پھر تیاری رکھو ہم تین مہینے بعد جنگ شروع کریں گے
اور مزید انتظار نہیں کریں گے اگر مجھے پتہ ہوتا کہ ساگ کیا بلا ہے تو کبھی ساگ کے بعد جنگ کرنے کی شرط قبول نہ کرتا
لیکن حضور ہم پھر بھی حملہ نہیں کر سکتے مصاحب نے ڈرتے ہوے بتایا

Aleander has bigger army than the Army of Raja Porus and in addition he has persian army and the army of Raja Ambhi of Taxilla with him. Raja Ambhi was rival of Raja of Pourava state (Raja Porus). Whereas Raja of Kashmir committed to help Raja Porus against the bigger army of Macedonia (Alexander) but Raja Porus fighted alone with 200 or more war elephants which were the invincible weapon of Raja Porus and with his own other available army, this battle of Hydespus was not ended in few weeks, its total time span is near about an year. Any way state of Pourava continued its rule under the kingship of Raja Porus and in Addition Raja Porus got the control of Taxilla as well..This was the successful and positive politics of Alexander, for making a strong friend of him he offered the state of Taxilla to Raja Porus by killing the Raja Ambhi of Taxilla.
