In this video I show how simply using the G, C, D chords you can play all of your favorite old hymns like "I'll Fly Away" "Because He Lives" "Blessed Assurance" "Amazing Grace" "Victory in Jesus"
Many people think you have to play up and down the neck of the guitar but using only the 2nd and 3rd fret you can play most of the classics.

I was just praying & pouring myself out to God and asking if it was what He wanted, that He would have to show me the way.
I said God, I know I might not ever really be a top quality musician , but could I have your spirit and help me learn my Acoustic guitar, and learn banjo, and mandolin, & violin, and bass, so I can lead small study Bible groups or even big groups,. That nothing is impossible for you, if it is your will. I just want to play and sing and express my feelings toward you God and share my devotion with other believers so to encourage them in the things of God.
And so soon after I stood up and phone in hand, I googled old time gospel songs on utube.
That was the first thing that came to mind. It like came natural,, the Lord put those words on my mind in that moment..
So first thing up popped you.
So I touched on video and there you are with the plainest way to start learning gospel songs..
I immediately started crying, then realized, this is from God.
I had told Him that I was going to need the Holy Spirits help in learning & understanding how to play. So thank GOD HE provided me with you..
Your first video has been so easy using G C D cords.
I am going to watch over and over again.
Your up close video of fingering is totally what has done it right of the bat for me.
I knew right there, that this is from God , and I can learn and God can use me to share His word & my heart with folks..
I told Him I wanted him to use me that way. That ,that was what was and is on my heart.
I remember thinking while I was praying, God you know my heart.

I saw you had tab music for “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”. It’s my mom’s favorite song and since she is the one who got me a guitar, I figure I should master that song first. I love it because there is a lot of easy percussion beats that sound great with it. I’m sounding pretty good on it and am just so happy! My grandmother had Alzheimer’s and remembered no one in her family but she knew all the words to the gospel hymns …it was like that was her only clear moments in her later years. Bless you for doing what you do …it means so much to the residents and their family’s.

I really enjoyed this video. It's simple, and to the point. I typically play surf and rockabilly stuff but I've been wanting to see about bringing old gospel songs into the mix, because rock n roll has gospel roots and I'd like my playing to glorify God, otherwise it would be a waste of my time.
Ooo don't wanna limit yourself like that. God never stops speaking. Wisdom in all things if you look for it. God made you and the world around. All things are God and his lessons shine the strongest even in the gritty. I've never been much for covers because writing songs comes easily through me. After meeting God I thought all I could write was praise music. I later found out I can uplift I wider range of people if I'm not slapping a spiritual label all over everything I do and pigeonholing myself. Now I write whatever comes. Country, gospel, grunge, pop, blues, and my shit moves people to tears and they tell me it helps them and causes them to look at their lives. Maybe they find jesus, maybe they find Buddha. Doesn't matter cause in the process they find themselves and become a force for positive change in the here and now.
A full cup can hold nothing else.

So much fun. This morning my wife and I worked the nursery. So we were playing the kids songs this little light of mine ect.... My wife bought me a new Taylor... God-bless you man you're doing the Lord to work. I used to play regularly but I could never learn hymns with just the GCD chord progression you have opened my eyesAnd God-bless you for it. I do have some talent with the guitar nothing to boast at all but this simplifies hymn songs hymnal songs. I want to check out your keyboard hymnal songs also hymnal Because I'm interested in the keyboard as well as I do have one. I fell into the trap of trying to play play 10 Fritz of tfrets Sorry I'm using I'm using speech to text as I'm on a tablet I'm helping a pastor in a startup church as I am also a minister but spent more time in The Bible than the guitar so I thank you God-bless you and your family and I'll be looking for those digital lessons !

@ acoustic selection-I had trouble saying amazing grace (my chains are gone) instead I kept saying amazing chains (my grace is gone). And now I don't say amazing chains (grace is gone )I say amazing grace (my chains are gone) . I had practice saying the right song title several times to get it right.
