Love this channel. Been out of the sport for 20yrs. Getting back into it now with my son. Its amazing the technology out there now. Not needing crystals for the tx/receiver, foam bodies and battery power taking over vs gas.... rc flyers have it so much better than when I used to fly
same. i got out of the hobby back in high school because the AMA and the "club locals" were literally unbearable. but when lipoly and brushless tech came out along with 2.4 ghz, the hobby was totally different in the nitro days.
@incubrian it's amazing. I still love the nitro days, the sound and smell. I don't know why. But I don't miss the sudden dead stick and coming in for a short land or worse (dead stick right after a take off while trying to get air speed and only 25ft off the deck aalready past the runway and having to land into the bushes. Lol). No time for a turn, or you end up with the dread tip stall
I bought this plane just for kicks cut rudders into it and made it 4s and it actually flew great for me on an AR630. Doesn't really like high alpha though it wing rocks like crazy in the alpha
Man i love this video! Brutally honest both in review and in raw emotion. Oh so rare these days! "Just to be clear: they're digging a pond for us over that hill. It's gonna be amazing." Love it as always. Thank you guys. Can't wait for the pond!
Dude, this is one of my favorite planes. I fly mine on 4S 2200. I absolutely love these. I’m also a huge fan of the T7A. why in the world wouldn’t you fly it on 4S anyway? Manuals really are just suggestions. Love you guys and you do keep up the good work.
I’m using an AR631. If you mean AS3X gains, I’m just running 1X. I crashed mine like three times before I got it dialed in. I’m almost thinking I should’ve dialed it in using a 3S battery before I went to 4S 2200. You should be able to see where I posted some videos of it flying on 4S 2200. The thing does like 100 miles an hour. It’s awesome.
Redo your video on 4S 2200. It’s got a 3900 KV motor in it. I put these motors and all my 64 mm EDF like the T7A and F16. This plane will do almost 100 miles an hour with a 4S 2200. Totally not meant to fly on 3S 2200.
Exactly 👍🏾 after I flew this plane all my 64s got this motor! The guys I sold them to were blown away how fast they flew! The f35 64 is the only 64mm I kept lol
Amen Bruthaman on a WINDY Spring! The FW is screaming at me everyday to go out and fly. No problem flying in the wind... It's the crazy stupid crosswind over the 8' wide patch of grass I have as my landing strip. VERY bad things on either side that would shred EPO foam. Thus.....very little air time this Spring.
Bought this plane a couple months back , went to assemble and found 2 of the same vert stabs , sent e mail and still waiting on 1 opposite stab …..plan to fly on 4S
I hate when that happens!!!! I've had it happen on a tail feather once...two rights or two lefts As for 4S, yeah, we would be more interested in trying it, except the plane is not that great flying anyway...MORE power CAN save a plane, but not from THESE issues, in my opinion.
Personally, im a UMX enjoyer, you dont have to worry about all of this on a small, light plane. if they made more planes like the umx sabre, it would be insane. 4s makes it just heavy enough, but at the same time still light enough. I find umx planes like the tte, twin otter, and so on, are too light. A good example is the UMX conscendo, it flies just amazing, and its weight is just right, it does great in wind. If they made them just under the aloud weight limit, they would fly even more hobby grade. But I realized that is harder said than done. To be fair, eps isnt terrible. It only scratches a bit, but its so dense and smooth.
brian youre amazing brother , i love you the most out of all the other youtubers ! enjoy and take care of the family :) the f35 is my worst rc plane so far , glad to hear you feel the same XD have a lovely day
Great video Brian. We all have bad days. This plane can be a pain to setup as many RUclipsrs maidens have shown. My maiden day was like yours. Then I removed landing gear, shoved a bigger 4s pack further back trimmed in some elevator, separated my gyro gains on different trim switches and dialed each one until flew perfectly. Aside from getting it out of a flat spin the plane is a fun warmup now at the field. Yes, later I put a 60amp esc so it’s not so hot and ducky taped the bottom . I’m glad your helping new Flyers because it is not for beginners. Despite the size and price
Ooo yeah- you should try it as a hand launch- it’s great! And you gotta work harder at hitting those airborne targets at 30,000 feet- you need a bigger battery. Also, it’s ridiculously windy in Noo Yawk for a month too!
Nothing. The chemistry is more stable from about ~2.8 VDC to 4.2 VDC. Too high and you risk a fire. Too low and you risk losing the pack down to unchargeable territory. Also, they can't HOLD charge low like that very well, I think, so that's why 3.8VDC is the "STORAGE VOLTAGE"
Hi Brian I have an old f35 it’s made by French company called amerang ltd it’s a ready to fly and has alerion and elevator joined together with one servo either side of the fuselage but it looks exactly like this Fms version I had to take the original fan and electrics out and I’m putting motor fan esc out of the freewing crusader in it as I nearly set the original electrics on fire in the plane lol wish I could post a pic of it but when I’ve finished doing it I will do video of maiden on my channel I think it’s epp foam not epo so I believe if I crash it then I think it will shatter into pieces lol the elevator is held in by long stick hinges and the elevator is like full working stabs , I just hope I can get it together and get it flying all the best from uk , G🇬🇧the placement of my edf is more in the middle of this plane so hopefully it will be more fly able it’s also a bottom loader plus the reciver goes in bottom as well it doesn’t have removable canopy like yours seeing your vid has made me get it out and fix it up it’s all glue on as well no screw on wings I recon it’s definitely an 80’s plane and the original reciver and controller is 35 mhz obviously I’m changing to our spektrum 2.4 mhz or whatever it is lol
We're good! There were several tornadoes in Iowa over the last couple of days, but most of the damage was not close to us. Thanks for checking on us. :)
I enjoy a lot all your videos, and thank to you I learned to use and program my Spektrum radio and my 2.00 mt Draco plane from e-flight and then the P51d etc. And congratulation to your wife who is just incredible to support with the video and basically accept that her home is completely engulfed by RC models of all kinds. That is not a common thing. Can’t you please after so long, change your typical initial 5 second video introduction and try something different?
Yeah, but I usually have to fly my jets somewhat TOWARD being tail heavy to flair for landings. Otherwise, like you said - flaps would be pretty handy ;)
yes - exactly This is why the finals are lined up reasonably well, THEN...blown of course...what a pain in the TAIL (I HOPE you caught that AMAZING pun)
Check out the Banana Hobby L-39 64mm. Not only does it have a rudder but it has retracts and lights. Best $200 value out there. I refuse to fly an EDF with no retracts at this point.
@@BrianPhillipsRC hahaha I love a good dad joke. Yeah, that is why I just cant get down with planes that lack rudder. I cannot stand having no yaw on approach.
We are! There was one not far from our house, but no damage here. Thanks for checking on us! Our thoughts and prayers are with those that have been less fortunate.
BEWARE the cheesey pinch hinges in ALL the fms 64mm warbird edf's! They are weak! Too, the 40a esc is best on 3s ONLY! 4s 2200+ on original esc, esc WILL thermal! (Been there, done that. Got the hat, tee, & wreckage from all but 1). It's a shelf queen now

They are, now can we get one that flys better??? Maybe the DOD will lend me a flight computer to get it going in a straight line ;) LOL LOL LOL

What type of camera do you use to tape your videos Brian?
I just got the 64mm F18 as my fifth plane (I’m still fairly new). With an AR630 it flies great and the roll rate is INSANE! Maybe check that one out?

It's fast for 3S. I hear a lot of guys are throwing 4S in there!!! I need to try this next!
Isn't it meant to fly on 4S?
I was also surprised so I looked it up: Indeed, FMS recommends 3S^^
My last F35, I used a 45a avian lite esc before maidening. Still, almost 3 minutes in on 4s/2200, it died.
Probably a crap design.

People like it or people hate it - the people who like it are WAY more vocal. I think it's annoying, but I do it for them.
With motor (weight) being so far back, it prob is tail heavy & it was typical tail heavy unintended hi alpha tendency all along the flight

how can it fly without a rudder?
By not yawing as good ;)
