Front Office really they put Burrow here with no O-Line. I loathe the Bungals as an organization but I don't like guys getting season ending injuries like this, it sucks for the player and it takes away any of the intrigue from the 2nd matchup

I have had leg pain forever and like watching any of these guys videos about legs, as much as I love them, make me want to stay seated so I am not putting weight on my legs, and therefore they won’t just snap out like Alex Smith.
I’ve torn my ACL twice and watching this was hard to not squeeze! Your knee is never the same again after surgery. Hope he recovers as best as possible.
Thank you Doc for explaining this. There is a ton of Bengal fans out there worrying about our guy Joe. I am going to share this video on Cincy Jungle so other Bengal fans can see it.
As someone who broke and dislocated their kneecap as a teenager, this video is very informative and helpful. It is interesting to see a doctor's perspective on high profile sports injuries.
I’m actually intrigued about the information of the medial meniscus having some connection to the MCL. I never knew that was true. This would make sense on why the medial meniscus is often torn when the MCL is sprained or torn. In the past, I shadowed an OS and was introduced to a study on why the lateral meniscus is more often torn when an ACL and the MCL are damaged (Shelbourne, 1991). Very interesting. I’m glad you pointed that out!
Thank you, you have no idea how difficult it is to find videos on this platform that don't spend half an hour up their own ass. Not to mention the incessant ad placement or just general misinformation/opinion without credibility. I look forward to seeing more of your content.
Literally had the same injury happen earlier this year. MCL, ACL, and double miniscus all torn. Recovery isn't too bad. I'm 8 weeks post surgery and am back to normal as far as every day life goes.
I'm a medical student and I just got into NFL this year. Looking into all of the injuries (especially everything that has happened the past week) really captured my interest. I'm not the biggest anatomy fan, but wow I might just revisit my atlas because of your videos!
Love this channel, and the content. Your insight on these injuries is awesome... hate to see players get injured but love the explanation we never get to see in the news
I'm loving your videos. As soon as I saw this replay on twitter I knew/hoped you'd cover it! I think that to top it off it would be cool to see animations of the injuries you mention, like the 3d model you show but actually moving out of place until the ligaments snap. I could always look it up separately, but accompanied with your comment I think it would bring your explanations across fully.
As someone who has had every injury you described in this video I felt pain in my knee just watching... Burrow will be fine but man does it suck seeing him go down during a dominate season for rookie QBs
Dr. Brian, I'm a new sub but I've been watching your videos for a bit before. I just wanted to say I love how you explain and demonstrate the potential injuries that we see. It really makes for a better understanding of the injury and it has certainly reminded me of my interest in the human anatomy. Keep up the great content! P.S. congrats to your skeleton, whose team earned a tough win against my beloved Packers. Good game.
I really hope they take the slow and steady route and let him recover FULLY. I don't really care about this season or next season. Let's draft some good LINEMEN and establish a dynasty!!!
The good doctor is very upbeat about Burrow's recovery. Yes, medical science is very good at putting Burrow's knee back together to the point that he might be able to play at the same level in a year or so. He's a young guy now but what is that knee going to be like for him when he's 50? I'm not buying it if anyone says he'll have no lifelong impairment or early degradation of functionality in that knee in his later years.
*shudders* As one who is currently living with this very injury, my heart goes out to Burrow. I felt that when it happened. Seeing it like this still makes me feel rough. Poor kid. That's purely unfortunate.
Imagine disliking this video. Some hateful person who just saw Joe Borrows leg move the absolute wrong way and say wow this video was not good. Have some decency. Those of you who liked, thank you for having respect.
i hope he can heal back up to 100% even if it takes him two seasons, in the mean time maybe they could get the o-line together 🤷♀️ GET WELL SOON BURROW 🧡🤍🖤 (from a BIG bengals and buckeye fan)
I saw the injury happen while I watched the game. Now watching your explanation and seeing the diagrams, it seems very painful and I hope he heals well.
Hoping to see him come back as good as he could’ve been. I tore my MCL and my meniscus a couple years back in a soccer injury and I made a return my junior year of high school, just about 15-16 months after the injury and have not had any pain or weakness since then. Besides occasional pain in my meniscus but only from tendonitis that is common in soccer players. Hopefully his return is a great one 🙏🙏
When I first heard about the other structural damage, it reminded me of when my left knee got injured playing football in high school. I was playing left defensive end for this one particular play, and the (my) right offensive guard and tackle were pulling to open up the B gap running lane. The way the play was supposed to work was the tackle lined up in front of me was supposed to cut inside and take on the linebacker. The pulling guard would try to box me outside, and the pulling tackle would cut inside and take the second linebacker. Instead, the tackle in front of me blocked me instead and in the ensuing chaos, the pulling guard dove in a sort of chop block move and hit me with his helmet in my knee, and the pulling tackle went high. Long story short, after two X-rays and a MRI, it was determined that a part of (I can’t remember whether it was the femur or the tibia) the bone had broken off and taken a piece of the cartilage with it. A knee endoscopy was performed and after they cut the damaged tissue and bone out, they drilled into the bone to encourage new cartilage growth. So it makes me wonder if anything like that may have happened...
Honestly glad the injury happened so early in his career. Now the majority of his development would be post injury. Better than playing 5 years then getting injured and never being the same
It doesn’t matter if I hate the player or not, I hate watching people get injured. I’m a Washington fan and I felt horrible after this happened. I hope he gets well soon!
Great video as usual. Someone on ESPN today clarified what the other “structural damage” was. I guess there was damage to his PCL and meniscus (as you predicted in your video yesterday).
I’m a diehard 25 year old bengals fan which means I have never watched them win a playoff game in my lifetime. Joey B gave me hope and now I’m hopeless with this franchise. We can’t even protect our #1 pick correctly. I’m sick!
After Carson Palmer got hurt against the Steelers , his career was never the same I really think that QBs need to wear some sort of hard rubber protection that would protect the needs and the shoulders
Hey Brian, as always great video and content/expertise! Unless I missed It would be cool to hear your assessment on if you think he could bounce back at 100% or what the outlook is for a player with this injury to come back to form, if possible. Thanks.
ive dislocated my knee roughly 15 times because the ligaments are loose and seeing this gave me ptsd from the first time it happened when i played football
I bent down to pick up my bike helmet off the ground in middle school and I remember a similar thing happening to my leg. I remember falling straight down like I had been pushed from behind but my foot was still planted. I lied back and was afraid I’d broken something. After psyching myself up so I wouldn’t freak out if things were really bad I lifted my leg and it was straight and seemed to work fine with some moderate pain if I flexed it. My friend came by to help me up and I walked my bike home. No bruising or swelling that I remember. I still don’t know if I just didn’t understand how I fell or my knee took a lot of damage and I didn’t know it and it just healed on it’s own because I was young and healthy
Initially tore my ACL in a football practice in HS. I had never experience anything like it, so I played the rest of the season, and it got to the point where I had to flex my thigh in order for my leg to pop back into place after plays.
