  • Welcome to TopElectricSUV's preview of the Range Rover Electric.
Jaguar Land Rover, or 'JLR' as it's known now, plans to introduce six BEVs Battery-Electric Vehicles) by 2026, beginning with a variant of the swanky new fifth-gen Range Rover. The flagship electric SUV from the British automaker is expected to be one of the classiest and most comfortable models in the full-size electric SUV segment.
The Range Rover Electric will compete with the Cadillac Escalade IQ and Mercedes EQS SUV, both of which were designed and engineered to be EVs from the ground up, with U.S. manufacturing. Even though it'll be a conversion of a gas model, it may find a lot of takers globally, especially in the U.S. and China, for it'll likely be an even better Range Rover, riding even smoother and more silently, offering better performance, and possessing improved off-road capabilities. Going to be interesting seeing this against the Escalade IQ. No one is in a hurry getting to the airstrip. The plane leaves when you're ready.

JLR is going to have 6 EVs at dealers by 2026, which means we would also see EV models of the Discovery Sport and Evoque at the low end. Guess the Range Rover EV is part of this top-down strategy?

I hope they really roll them out. It's amazing to me how these car manufacturers keep producing concepts without. building any. Funnily enough, mainstream media keeps promoting newer EV concepts without reminding the automakers about their previously unfulfilled concepts.
that being said, Thanks for your efforts in producing great content. Am your fan!

Thank you for your comment, it made our day!
We think most big manufacturers are following through on their announcements, but some are only able to grasp how far they are behind competitors when they begin development of new EVs, or when sales of their EVs don't evolve progressively.
Some are having to go back to the drawing board and come up with new platforms, battery tech, manufacturing, etc, to ensure they introduce competitive and desirable EVs. Though some of these companies have been making cars for decades, EV development is a learning curve.

I wonder how the wear of the tires is

A badly needed evolution. I feel the dimensions of the RR should allow for a far greater range than just 300 miles. And a lot of self-driving capabilities (but not when off-road).

Looking forward to driving one of these. Hopefully they come with Pin to drive, otherwise, it will be the best gift for thieves.

Looks great, but to tell you the truth, I would rather have the Escalade IQ

Can the batteries be submerged? 360,000,000 joules of energy separated from disaster by a Chinese seal 🙈

Hello June! EV batteries come with IP ratings (eg. IP69), which provides an idea about the resistance of the battery enclosure. Clearly for off-road capable EVs, dust-, sand-, and water-proofing is a priority while designing the vehicle. We'll be sure to ask Land Rover about the waterproofing when the car is revealed next year.
