I discovered you 2-3 years ago but listened once in a while till few days ago, since I arrived to your video about SE 4400(which I ordered since then!). From that moment, I listen every day to your videos!!!
;dude! You’ve got a fun and great channel here! Keep it up! Love what ur doing and thnx for helping me get on the mailing list from the help you provided in the video. Definitely picking up a pair for 60 bucks. It’s great! Thnx again!
I was lucky to get me a stereo pair of these BasicUcho's myself 3 months ago. I like them so much! In combination with the Zoom F6 an unbeatable cooperation. I love your style of reviews with the humor touch! And of course every time the measuring tape story..... LOL!
Just ordered one to try out in a parabolic microphone for isolating bird song. Excited! It’s interesting to note that the capsule this microphone uses is not a Primo 272 (as explained by the sensitivity) and is instead an AOM model. Same self-noise, higher sensitivity, with a slightly lower SPL (minor tradeoff in context for what it was designed for)-what’s not to love?
Stumbled across mention of LOM in some field recording blog and purchased a pair Uši Pros as my first pair. Was so impressed I've purchased something from them during every release since. Ha! Was able to get the basicUchos, Elektrouši, and a Geofōn too. Great advice about increasing the chance of success with a purchase. That's how I succeeded. In addition to great microphones they also have tremendous customer servicel. Can't recommend them enough.
Fantastic! Thanks so much for telling us that! I love LOM! I have the ElektoUsis, the BadicUchos, and the Geofón. I’m hoping to test out some of their other products! Fantastic mics, great prices, and fabulous people! Cheers!
Thanks so much! Well, I’ve heard that just before they go on, you disable image loading in your browser and prep the payment method sign in stuff. I've already used these steps to get the Lom Usi Pro - tested method :) Hope this helps!
I'm actually the happy owner of a pair of mikrousi pro and a pair of their geofon. Really amazing and fun stuff. Even a humble washing machine becomes a universe to preserve
Hey man! Thanks so much! And what a compliment! Bill Bryson is awesome! Funny about the mounting. I just rigged something up because believe it or not, I lost my homemade mounting bar somewhere in my studio and couldn’t find it in time. So I just used masking tape and taped both mics to each end of a drum stick. Hahaha. I’ll try and post a photo of it under my community tab right now. Have a look for it! Cheers!
07:20 hot dang, I'm only now realizing that these are pop culture references.. I guess that means I'll need to go back and rewatch a whole lot of these 🤗
Hahaha. Oh yes! My videos are full of pop culture Easter eggs! Sometimes I just casually say something or add phrase inside another thing. I try to come up with as many as I can per video-if I can think of any. Haha. Thanks for noticing! Cheers!
Here's my experience buying two (2) pairs of BasicUchos in November 2023: 1. To avoid disappointment I was on LOM's website the very minute they said they'd be back in stock. And they were. Interesting fact: Ten (10) days later they still had the BasicUchos in stock. Hmmm. 2. I ordered 4 BasicUchos and paid for them with a credit card. The 4 mics were a total of 240 Euros ($358.00 CANADIAN) 3. Shipping via DHL international was an additional 25 Euros ($38 CANADIAN) 4. Duty and import taxes were $61.50 CANADIAN 5. Total price to get the four mics to my front door in Canada from Slovakia: $457.50 CANADIAN. $114.38 per microphone. 6. Next up: wind protection and first recordings!
Haha. Yes. The BasicUchos don’t sell out quite as fast as the others. Perhaps due to the word “basic” in the title. Everyone wants the “pro” versions. Hmm. When you did shipping did you have a choice for the carrier? Did you opt for a quicker shipping method? The import fees always get you. I get dinged all the time - especially when getting products sent to me to review. I have to pay duty even on items lent to me. But the total is still far less than mics that are an eighth as good. Still a great deal! And now for wind protection! I am in the same boat. Buying the BBG and furries from LOM or even from Rycote themselves is incredibly expensive. That’s why I went with my blimp. I already own that and can use it for other stuff. Happy recording!
I really love your videos, according to your experience they are suitable for recording classical music (double bass and piano or small chamber ensembles)?? It would be really interesting to find out! Thanks a lot, Greetings from Italy.
Hi there! Thanks for the comment! Well, omni mics are fantastic when you want to hear everything - including the room. So if you want to hear the acoustics of the room you’re in, then yes, these are great. But if you want to pinpoint instruments and reject everything else, then I would opt for more directional mics like a cardioid. Hope this helps! Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦
Incredible intro. I'm guessing the flashing red and blue "police Lights" are the same iphone and ipad app we always used for making independent films where we needed flashing police lights but were too scared to steal the police car for the day of the shoot.
Hahaha. No actually. It is a small RGB light. The Godox M1 is the one I used for that. And a Godox ML60 with a CTB blue gel over it outside pointing in for the moonlight/street light. It was actually quite pitch black where I was-and dead silent. Haha. Thanks for the compliment! And as always, thanks for watching!
Hello, thank you very much for the video: very informative and entertaining! I wonder what behavior this microphone would have when recording an acoustic guitar. Greetings and thank you in advance!
Hi there. Thanks! Well, I wouldn’t use omni mics for acoustic guitar recording. Omni mics pick up the entire room and are the opposite of directional. You’d end up with a recording that sounds very amateur compared to a cardioid - unless your room sounds amazing and you’re going after that specific sound. Hope this helps!
Thank you very much, I am entering the wonderful world of sound and I do belive I'm looking for something that does not exist: a microphone with good performance for field recording but also for recording string instruments... Just yesterday I received a pair of these little "ears" "; Should I buy two Line Audio CM4 to have both options ( field recording/ music recording) or do you recommend another microphone for that purpose in terms of quality/price? Have a good day and thank you very much again! 😊
@@TheRecordist 💯!! It will be midnight here in Sydney so my beauty sleep will be interrupted. Not to worry though as my ugly mug is beyond hope! Thanks for the heads up about these incredible mics 😸Also, is it worth getting their shock mounts??
@@the_black_douglas9041 hey no worries! I’m beyond hope too. Hahaha Yes. It is very worth getting the shockmounts. I believe they use the Rycote INV-6 Heavy shockmounts. Literally the best in the world. If you don’t have any shockmounts, then these will be amazing.

Thank you for this video, really informative. Question, how would you record infrasound, like those produced by elephants, the opposite end of the spectrum to bats?
Hmm. Infrasonic mics are interesting. I wonder if using a seismic mic like the LOM Geofón might help grab some deep rumble somehow. I know many recordists who are after infrasonic sounds build their own. I’ve never done that, but I’ve heard it done. They then speed up the recording to an audible frequency.
I´ve also done a Review with the LOM Basic Uchos as the first drop came out last year and use them for almost all my Field Recordings. Great Mics. Your all welcome to check it out BTW. I like your Intro :)
What a great mics! They will go well with my Zoom F3 recorder. But your video kind of ended too soon. We didn't see what happened to the fly afterwards. :)
I did a comparision Video of the LOM Basic UCHO and the Clippy EM272 . I just need to edit and upload it. Should be online soon. The Uchos are a bit more Sensitiv than the Clippy
I prefer the Pluggys because the low end is rounder and they’re warmer. But if you like a lot of high end detail, then go for the basic Uchos. They record even way past 40kHz.
You know you've wandered down a good rabbit hole (LOM equipment) when you come across videos like this.
