Good day I was very near to making an offer on a 42 Phahi. I was blessed to spend a day and one night aboard this magnificent boat. I have for many years been a huge fan of Wharram cats, and firmly believed I would live on one. The one and only problem I have is my wife has had two hip replacements and the idea of climbing up and down the hull entry ladders did not sit well with her. May I ask how you guys are managing this and have you any ideas and plans to make it easier. Or are you fine with it. Kind regards John
Hi John, this is the Wife here (Chelle), As we age there are definitely allowances that are needed. The Tiki had a ladder type set up and the spacings where uncomfortable for Guy so he has made them into steps, and he will put handrails on them that slide up so that as you come out of the Hull you can pull yourself up. I have a dicky hip, no replacement yet, however, I have a tendon issue that plays up from time to time. I know it is going to hurt and I manage the pain. I cannot comment on a replacement as I am not there yet so I don't understand the restrictions or pain, I just know that being wood, the Wharram can be modified. Guy will make sure that we have all the supports, spacings and comforts that we need so that we can sail for as long as we wish. On another note, we stayed on Moves a Foot for a week to see how I felt about it, going up and down to prepare food, go to the toilet etc. I found that I worked around going up and down a lot, I had a tray that I would prepare and throw up to Guy to reduce the up and down, I loved being on deck and only went below when I had to. Guy and I have a different relationship with sailing from each other and I will go on some trips but not all. I am happy for him to have his dream and me to watch the chickens and water the garden :) I am happy to chat any time.

Guy has some really cool idea,s!! That's the beauty of a wharram. It,s modular and you can kit it out just the way you like!
Thank you Russell, I am enjoying working with the design, it is a beauty. Guy
