They need to keep those old locomotives in some form of museum cause for sure they won't be used. Would be used as means of attraction and keeping the history intact
If there had been a rail system from Spanish Town to Downtown Kingston. There would be no need for so many commuters going past 3 Miles construction zone.
The last time when the government bring back the train into passengers service the money they made couldn't even full the tank for one of diesel locomotive you have to come better than that ? Passenger fare that JRC is using is from the 60's in those days JRC was pulling bauxite cars with bauxite ore and alumina to offset the passengers fare. I work for the subway system in New York City and locomotive parts not cheap, unless you going to make some of your parts in your machine shop?
It would be good if railway had line all over Jamaica ? and use specialised rail cars that can carry two 40 ft containers. I assumed the rail cars are 50 feet.
People the rail infrastructure in Jamaica cannot be used for a reliable commuter rail service one of the main reasons for this is,if you noticed there is only one track going in any direction. What this means is if you get on a train going east would need to complete its route and come back going west before the people waiting to go west can get the train 😢. Y Such a system would never work two parallel tracks are needed going in opposite direction. It would be great for the trains to carry passengers in Jamaica but the existing infrastructure can’t work. And I would go further and say what Jamaica needs to do is focus on getting the cost of electricity down and introduce electric trains
Usually at key points a bypass track about 1.5x times the expted longest train is built allowing bi-directional travel. You calculate the frequency of service, average speed and station dwell time to find meet locations. Even more ideal is to build stations at double track meeting points.
Let's hope they make the rail system a reality instead of an elusion.
Indeed lets us all hope 🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲 Jamaica land we love 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Thumbs up for jis using my capture of the bauxite train to make make their documentrary appriecaite
EXCELLENT presentation.

I remembered boarding the train from Spanish Town to Kingston between 1989 and 1991
Lots of happy memories of railway. You get to see the beautiful countryside, a hidden jewel. 🇯🇲

What the JRC could do is build a railway museum for tourists attractions

Hear that it’s so efficient that people start to lose money as a result

It’s all still there
Should I say I’ve seen them in the 80s
Those trains belong in an amusement
There's still no railroad and you give the Jamaican people job no where else
