I have once but it's been too long... even created an instruction sheet for myself in the past )-: I will definitely relearn / refresh how to do it again...especially since no cell service on that last few great summits. 73, James
Nice video, good use of the 360 camera and editing. What frequency were you on 2Meters and did you get all those contacts by calling CQ or was that prearranged? I cannot imagine getting all of those contacts on 2M back east here! beautiful mountain and oh my did you have a good weather day! Good to see someone else lug the WRC coil to a summit; I thought I was the only one... hahaha See: ruclips.net/video/bVD_6JR0__8/видео.html Great video look forward to the other installments. Would love to be able to activate a peak on 2M - so much easier! COngrats, great video!
Thank you Bob for nice comments about use of 360 and editing... I definitely love the 360 for unique shots and still learning how to best use in videos. Fun you mention the WRC, and I felt bad about not being able to spot and make hf contacts that day. I definitely like it for certain situations, and generally don't mind hiking with it or the Elk Log Periodic for 2m/70cm. For 2m contacts I did post an alert, but many of the summits around the Puget Sound area have great line-of-sight and can relatively easily be activated on VHF only if needed. In other parts of the country it's pretty unique to be able to activate with 2m, but definitely fun to hear voices of many familiar SOTA/POTA chasers around the Puget Sound in Washington. The 2m qso's were on 146.52 and 146.56... we''ll also sometime use 146.58, and in Oregon most of the SOTA chasers monitor 146.58. Thanks again for nice comments and VHF questions! Have a great rest of the week! 73, James WA7JNJ
@@wa7jnjradio Sometime could you give me a 30 sec tutorial on how you made those smooth flyby in google map/earth (pro) ? Specifially like at 7:52 in the video...for a second I thought it was actual video vice google earth.
Of course... Google Earth Studio makes it much easier to actually use for videos! I had to apply in order to use, but went very quickly and they sent a link to use. The interface is much better, and I've started using a standard "Quick Start" views including the "circle" option. After choosing the quick start for circle, I'll input the SOTA GPS coordinates and then adjust a few setting for distance from location, etc. My email is on qrz, and open to chat by phone or zoom if you want to walk through... 73.
@@wa7jnjradio Thank you very much, I have a relationship with Google through YT so I will connect with them first and then reach out to you after i get it and understand it. Working with Google Earth and Earth Pro was not smooth! :-) thanks again, if there is anything I can do for you in the YT realm let me know! Bob KU3C
@@wa7jnjradio I got it and was able to figure it out after playing with it for about 30 minutes; powerful tool and MUCH easier than Google Earth! Thanks so much; it may have application in my Jet Ski videos, but definitely when I am in the mountains doing SOTA or just hiking. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction! I used to live in Puyallup and may move back to Colorado ...maybe we can do a joint video someday! Bob KU3C
Thank you and hope you're doing well! The sotamaps.org/activations website is pretty great and fun to show locations... I sometimes have to do manual updates, but in general is a great quick option. Thanks for the comment! 73, James
Awesome job, as always, with the video and activation. I'm hoping to be out for a SOTA soon.
Thank you Mike! Always appreciate your comments and support... Hope you get to a SOTA soon, and I actually need to as well. (-:
Have you ever spotted with APRS?

Nice. WA7OCZ. I like the map showing your QTH and all the locations you contacted.
