I keep trying to find a reason to sell my 2003 and buy a new Goldwing, but there just isn't a reason. 130,000 on the odometer and it runs as well as a new one...better actually. I've had dozens of bikes over 65 years of riding and never really "arrived' until I bought the 2003 used but in perfect condition. Best vehicle I have ever owned period !! I will never sell it and you can't wear it out as long as you maintain it properly (easy and inexpensive to do). Besides, at 80, I'll be dead long before this bike gets "old"......
I just bought a 06' Wing for $5k with 128,000k miles. Did an Iron Butt Saddle Sore 1000, (1,114 miles in 20 hours) without a hitch. Bike is smooth as melted butter, KEEP IT!
@@votpavel HaHa.....don't ever wish that way....old age comes quicker than you can imagine. Live everyday to it's fullest. But you are correct; my Wing will outlast me since I'm pushing 80......
Kevin Barry you are correct but Harley isn’t really supposed to be any of those things, with the exception of reliable and durable where you have some substance to your argument. They are stylish and rambunctiousness loud and come with the brand. Some day I’ll be buying a Goldwing!
Ryan s...that’s old, and false🙄. Why don’t you try being a bit more original. All you Harley haters are using the same comments...come on guys, give it a break.
Started riding at 23 on a Kawasaki mean streak 1600. Two years later, moved to a full dresser harley. I was obsessed with Harley because I’d never owned one. It didn’t take long for me to own it to find out why people complain about them. About 2 years after that, my Dad decided he was going to upgrade from 2002 Goldwing to a 2018. I decided I was gonna give the “old man bike” a try and I was not disappointed. Since then, I’ve bought his 2002 and sold the Harley for the same price I got it for. Now that I’ve been spoiled by the Goldwing, I’m extremely confident in saying I won’t ever ride anything else.
I’m 63 but feel 43 when I’m on my 06 wing. I love the bike, the handling, power, comfort, 40 mpg, mine has 82k on it. I took my highway pegs off, I don’t miss them. I enjoy watching your channel, you guys rock.
Loud pipes save lives was a good mantra back in the 90s before cell phones and distracted driving took over people would actually hear you. Nowadays people have windows up, A/C blasting and music even louder to drown out the A/C noise. If they can't hear all the sirens on my fire truck when i'm driving they definitely can't hear your motorcycle.
The noise from loud pipes is only heard by the traffic behind you because the noise is coming out the back. Cars in front of you don't hear it till you get by them . To late by this time. Turn your headlights on and wobble a little bit.
I have both. Loud and quiet. I tend to disagree with the blank statement either way. It is all situational. I had so many instances in the city where my loud pipes worked in alerting people about my presence as they were about to do a move. A light blip is all that is needed sometimes. On long trips, I always wear earplugs anyway, regardless of bike loudness. In the city, I do like to have that added presence. Above all, I think the best possible defense, apart from skillful riding, a helmet with high visibility graphics. That is what most other drivers spot first.
I'm 70 and ridden about every bike and prefer the Goldwing over anything out there hands-down. That's NOT TO SLAM any other Bike. I rode my first one that a buddy wanted to switch for a section of our trip. I had a beautiful EX100 Full Dress Yamaha at the time. It got traded right after that trip because I fell in love with the Goldwing. I haven't looked back or regretted any one of the other 5 before this one. I actually went backwards a few years and acquired an older but "NOW" VERY SAWEEET '84 GL1200 Aspencade for under $600. My wife's distant, and almost lost, cousin was in need of the BREAD so He came to me and set the price at $150 but I wouldn't be able to sleep with myself at that price so I opened the garage safe and gave him all that I had at the time which was the $575. Neither of us got messed up too badly by the deal because I have to admit that the Bike was actually pretty rough, No, let me re-phrase that, VERY ROUGH in a lot of ways in the painted dept, the engine was pitted from sitting out in all that weather as well as a lot of rusted chrome and the seat covering was shot from sitting outside, uncovered here in Idaho for maybe 10/12yrs. He inherited it from his Brother killed in the Gulf. I just felt for the guy and later gave him work around the Ranch and the Mountain Property to get him back to living a Godly Life. The Wife was in charge of all that and it always feels better to help than to not. It got a very Quick and temporary paint job, quite a bit of the time-tested stand-by rust remover and a ton of good old elbow grease, Rebuilt the front Forks, head Bearings, new fork seals N Fluid, new shifting shaft seal, other misc seals and ALL new wheel bearings front and rear, every fluid thoroughly flushed, a bit of Marvel Mystery Oil to make certain the engine even turned over before anything else got changed out and of-course all new Carb Rebuild kits later were synchronized with my 1973 true Mercury Sticks and lastly a $175 re-upholstered seat and I now love this thing...who can complain with 52mpg out of an Oldie-But-Goody ridden by an equally Oldie Dude. I now ride a Bike almost 4 decades old that gets asked about by a lot of other riders. Most people are funny and think it's a lot newer than it is and when they call me on it I show them the Registration and their mouth drops and I just have to laugh WITH THEM. Yeah I know, I plead guilty to KINDA getting carried away with all my bragging about any and ALL Goldwings in general way too much and I must confess. I still however, CLAIM I have every right because I'm about as OLD as Them-Thar Hills...feels like it some days too. Yes SIR, you are exactly correct, "The Wing IS KING." If you don't mind I'll ad-lib just a tad-bit, "The WING IS & ALWAYS HAS BEEN KING at least for this Ol' Rider."
I bought mine new in 2003 at 37 years old. 21 years later and it still a sweet running machine, a beauty to lean, accelerate and cruise quietly and safely. Only had to do oil changes, one differential fluid change, one coolant (under warranty) and a starter. I wish they made cars this reliable!
Last week, my wife and I completed 2,584 miles, with 6 travel days, on our 2003, red, almost identical GL1800. Hit a lot of rain in Northern CA, Southern OR, but for the most part, very smooth and trouble-free. Luggage space was equally divided. And, it's not the destination, it's the trip.
@@thesavoyard So am I and feel the same. I was born in Portland, grew up near McMinnville and now reside on the Monterey Bay in central CA. However, the McMenamins UFO festival is held in McMinnville and will soon be making the 800 mile drive to attend that.
Im a young guy, early 30's. I have a '94 gl1500 SE in the terrible teal. Love the thing. Has all the features listed on that 1800. Plenty of power and runs great. The original goldwings used to be superbikes of their day, and when riders started putting bags on them and taking them cross country Honda saw that and answered the call. That sport bike is still under the dress.
@@ntdscherer : Nope. The original Goldwing was Honda's counter to the HD, before there WERE "touring" bikes. Then they discovered that the main customer base was completely different: it was young professionals, who were putting Vetter commuter-type fairings and bags on them and MAKING the whole "touring bike" thing start. So, just like the invention of the Honda Trail, HUSA saw what other people were doing and followed their customers. They made a deal with Craig Vetter for custom Tupperware, and eventually developed the whole-bike concept found in the GL1500 and GL1800.
I've had a 2009 GL1800 Audio/Comfort for about 8 years. I've owned dozens of bikes over my lifetime. The Goldwing is hands-down the best Motorcycle ever made! It's amazing how well the GW shoots out of a fast turn. Also, solid as a rock. Thing runs like a clock.
Moto Mengy I’m with you, HD’s are American bla bla, but the Honda always has and always will be the best touring bike made. No comparison between the two.
@@danthechippie4439such different bikes. If you intend to ride for more than an hour at a time and intend on taking a passenger,The Wing all day long. And the odds of a breakdown on the Honda is very low, unlike the Tubby Lad.
I rented a GoldWing some years back to do a 5 day tour of Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia. It was the perfect bike for the job. All day in the saddle, comfy, no pinch/pressure points, great handling, surprisingly good brakes and surprisingly good fuel mileage. Always felt good after a long day of riding and always looked forward to the start of the next day of riding. I have sporty nakeds in my shed and thought I'd try one, hence the rental, and it was an awesome ride.
Bought my first goldwing after my wife passed I bought 1000 than 1100 then a 1500cc had it for 12 Years Kept her in my Daughters Old bedroom Sold her an Bought a LUXURY Goldwing 1800 God,s own Bike Buy one Now you will never Regret it stay safe Wear Leathers all the Time.
I just picked up an 82 Goldwing 1100 A, its a bit more bike then I wanted for my first bike but it was kinda my endgame ive always loved these things, and I feel like I lucked out on it. Got it from an older gentleman that cant ride anymore its been parked in his garage for 2 years, 30k Miles on it, managed to pick it up for 800 bucks.
I have a 2005 Goldwing. I've ridden up and down the Calif Coast, and from Arizona to Jasper, BC. I keep thinking I should downsize to something smaller, but I keep falling in love with it and can't bear to part with it.
My last bike was a 1984 Goldwing and one thing I loved about that bike was how it rode on the highway. I lived in AZ then, and there, in the desert on the highway, average traffic speeds of 90+ mph were not uncommon. That old Goldwing still handled those effortlessly, with no extra fatigue to me from buzzing handlebars and the like. I loved that bike.
I just inherited my step dad 2009 Goldwing since his passing. I've rode it once before I received it and it was one of the most comfortable rides I've had so far on a motorcycle. Mind you I'm a new rider. I just had my birthday and was just given the bike so gotta clean it up and take her out for a good long ride.
I have owned Kawasakis Suzuki's yamaha's. And I owned three gold wings. Absolutely fell in love with them. Because of their lack of Maintenance needed. I'm a retired mechanic and I do not want to have to work on my bike when I get home. I currently own a 2000 Honda Valkyrie. Absolutely love these bikes. Their durability is legendary. Just simple maintenance
AGREED 1000%. Had an older one, daily driver, anywhere, any place, room for beer & food too! The wind only hits your half shell helmet. Rain no issues too if moving, not stopped. Cranking the tunes everywhere. Just change oil.
I have a 1985 gold wing bought it new 7500 the thing is gas tank rusted and chrome rusted , need tires and charging system on this year go bad so the question is the bike worth fixing seeing it would take 2500 to get going 5000 if dealer works on it the value just ant there
Serious question: when is the last time anyone was driving a car and heard a loud pipe and said "aha, there's a motorcycle nearby, don't change lanes without looking" instead of "what a jerk".
ya Harleys have that nice growl to their exhaust but thats it....A car driver would have the radio on or be talking to a passenger so they are not goin to notice anything noise....
@@LordVladimort So car drivers are idiots because motorcycle exhausts face backwards and they listen to the radio while driving? You know this bike even has a radio on it... 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@alexm9479 It's not just that. When you drive a car you're relaxed and don't pay attention as much. Motorcycle riders tend to more self aware, even when driving a car.
I'm a UK truck driver looking to become a motorcyclist. Please believe me when I say, loud pipes save lives. But there's No substitute for shouting in my face "I'M HERE" !!!!!! Stay safe guys, have fun !
I have a 84 gold wing aspecade " i think thats how u say it " i was against getting them looks wise but instantly fell in love with the ride and options. If i ever upgrade or buy a another one it may be a newer one for the looks and fumction. Cant beat the quality and tech. I get compliments on this ride where ever i go! $1600 and only 36k miles you cant beat that especially since i am a beginner
I ride a 2002 Wing, same color. I LOVE IT! Smoothest bike I have ever ridden. I’ve had this bike since ‘08. I wish I had Navi, but I have a Garmin, so that works for me. I use the aux jack to plug my phone to the speakers, and a I can stream SiriusXM. This bike is a dream to ride. And for those who’re unsure about riding one, sign up for the video series Ride Like a Pro with the Motorman. It’ll be the best 40 bucks you ever spent. Ride safe! PS: Great channel Sean. Love the straight forward talk about bikes, the way you treat customers, and the Bible verses. It’s all good!
one small correction, it doesn't have air suspension, they stopped putting air on them during the change over to that body style. It's a single mono shock type system with an electric servo to raise and lower the suspension.
I recently bought a 2004 Alpine White Wing with barely 30,000 miles on it in pert near perfect condition, AND the guy threw in a trailer, extra exhaust tips, Kuryakin highway pegs, GPS, phone mount, cup holder, and a large box of all spare hardware (nuts, bolts, washers, filters, snap fittings, etc.) all bagged and labeled. It also came with brand new Dunlop Elite 4 tires with all but about 100 miles on them. I paid $7,000 for it all. I rode a 1500 cruiser prior to the Wing. What a difference in power and performance going from a two cylinder to a six cylinder engine! WOW!! Smooth as glass!! I love my Wing for all the reasons you mentioned, and more, and living in northeastern Tennessee affords me the opportunity to ride some of the best routes in the entire country!! They are all at my doorstep!! Thanks for a great review! Ride safe. Ride well. Ride often. And thanks for that passage from Psalms 121!! I love it!! My help definitely comes from the Lord!!
5:10 THANK YOU! I’ve been saying this for years and people refuse to let go of that loud pipes nonsense no matter what evidence is put forth. Visibility and defensive riding matter so much more that noise, and a high frequency sound like a horn is always more effective than a low frequency sound like loud exhaust.
The Advantage of a quiet bike is you KNOW you can NOT be heard so you ride that way. As opposed to thinking Everyone can hear you and expect to be SEEN because your LOUD.
I rode hardly electra glides for years, got the death shake on a 2014 and was nearly killed. Bought a new 2018 goldwing tour and OMG, i can't believe it every time I ride it , what an amazing machine. The best mc made. Only one exception changing the air filter is ludicrous , other than that amazing.
Every time you ride of something your selling at the time gets your GREATEST bike recommendation. I have four bikes, and there is no other bike I want. Ride what you got and be happy.
I ride my 2004 almost daily, and year round. That can be a bit of a chore living in south western Ontario, but it is such a pleasure to ride, I feel the need to be on it as much as I can.

@@bobuncle8704 Ah ok. I find that even when it's dry, they already tend to have salt out, so I just don't feel comfortable going out in that condition. That and a couple of years ago I had a fall when it was 0 degrees while pulling out of a parking lot. I blamed it on the cold road and tires having no grip and ever since then have been very apprehensive of riding below 5 degrees for fear of poor grip in the cold thanks to that fall I had.
We rode ours from WV to California and back. We also took a BMW K1200LT out there and back. I feel like the Honda did just a tick better. I didn't like the dead air space, it got very hot in Vegas when it was 107 degrees.
I got 34% off when I bought mine, I found a brand new 2016 in a dealer's showroom last year with a sticker of 24,999 and the dealer let me have it for 16,499.
@@arthurschamne I'm guessing they wanted to get rid of the old stock before the 2018's came in. If you don't need to own the latest, baddest, coolest stuff just for bragging rights, that is a hell of a way to make a good deal on a bike!
Except for the cracked frame from the 01 to 06. And oh how I love to change the air filter. Nothing like having to take half the bike apart to change the air filter
Only a certain number of bikes had that problem and it's easy to check by serial number. However, with all Wings of the 01 - 12 versions, it's wise to check the rear aluminum parts for stress cracks. My 03 wasn't on the formal list, but each year I do check it out and so far so good. But that wouldn't stop me from buying an older Wing as long as everything else checked out and the price was right.
Don't know about a dime, but you can balance a nickel on the Goldwing... and not just at idle, you could even rev it up without it falling over! Surprised at that 0-60 though, your runs are usually pretty accurate for real world acceleration times but I thought those old 'Wings would have been sub 4 seconds.
I'd love a Goldwing. Nice large comfortable seat, quiet, and no surprises when you're riding. You can ride one of those on a long trip and not have your back be destroyed by the end.
My first bike was a 1975 Gl1000, sold it a few years back and wish I hadn't. I now have a 2005 GL 1800 30th anniversary wing, and riding it reminds me of my original bike.
@@opichocal Welcome to the club! Did the previous owner have all service records? How did the brake pads look? The biggest improvement for my GW was replacing the fork springs with Progressive monotube shocks and Progressive rear mono-shock spring. Loads of maintenance videos on you-tube. Enjoy!
IDYLBERRY I didn’t get any maintenance records. So far I’ve replaced all the fluids, battery and the spark plugs. One of the front forks is leaking and the steering head bearings are loose. When it cools down in Dallas I’m going to rebuild the shocks, replace the bearings and change the air filter. I just ordered 60W day running lights. So far I put 2000 miles on it.😁
At Americade in Lake George, NY in the early 1980s I waited 2 hours and took a test ride on a Gold Wing. The Honda salesman put a quarter,25¢, on the top of the valve cover and and we went for about a 15-mile ride with super highway and route 9 with many tilting right and left hand turns. When we got back to the starting point, the quarter was still there. Amazing smoothness. You could downshift hard and the ass end would not kick out violently on you. Best big bike on the road.
Don't ever buy anything off of wish. It is a scam 100%. You are trading your purchasing information to the chinese for a couple bucks. The shipping is god awful and the products are almost always terrible quality.
I had a 1990 wing and rode it coast to coast, no problem. Tried out a 1800 and it just felt small, legs hit engine guards, by the way I'm 6'5". I just didn't like the feel of the bike for me so I moved on to a Victory Vision and it has the leg room with out hitting my legs. Nothing wrong with the newer wings, it's just not for me
I owned 3 Honda Civics between 1991 and 2009..... and presently have a 2012 Honda Goldwing which I've had for 8 years now. And YES the mirrors on the 5th Generation Goldwing are EXACTLY the same as what's on a Civic. My Goldwing has a bigger engine then any of my Civics had . I put mega trouble free miles on my Civics and my Goldwing has close to 100,000 miles & every bit as reliable as my past Civics.
I put 86,000 miles on my 1994 GL1500 Aspencade. I meet a fella in 2022 in Arkansas that just rolled over 300,000 miles on his 2004. The machine is bullet proof.
Completely agree about the loud pipes save lives crapola, and have been preachin about the loud clothing and helmets for years! I bought my '89 Wing back in 2000 with only 4,000 miles on it and it now has 165,000 miles and still going strong. I'd love to upgrade to an '03, but I just can't wear this '89 out!!!
Just bought a 2002 illusion blue honda goldwing and i havent felt this much excitement since i bought my first bike almost two years ago. I haven’t received it yet since i bought it in texas and im having it shipped to my city but it only has 28k miles on it. Barely broken in 👌
As much as I admire the Gold Wing, I still prefer my ST 1300 PanEuropean. V4 engine, same power as the GW, elastic beyond belief, and 70 kilos lighter as the 2020 and 140 kg lighter than previous GWs. And, detachable sidcases 🙂👍🏻
I have to agree with you 100% I had a 98 Wing I was hit head on the bike took most of the hit but because they are so nimble I was able to maneuver my bike for less of an impact I just couldn’t afford another at that time but maybe some day
I bought a 2007 Goldwing brand new put 81,000 miles on it, eight sets of tires one set a fork rings that's it nothing else broke there a great motorcycle.
The joy of the vibration and sound of the Harley dissipates quickly. The smoothness of a Goldwing never goes away. I prefer the joy of smoothness and lack of Hundred Dollars (HD) every other month 10 to 1.
1:43 The sitting position is "standard" rather than "cruiser" or "sport bike". For many years, most bikes sold in North America were sport or cruiser, whereas the standard type of bike is much more common in Europe and Asia.
Correction, 15 years, yes 2001-2017 equals 16, however, there was NO 2011 GoldWing as the Honda was moving the plant from Marysville, Ohio back to Japan.
I want to add to something to what you are saying that loud pipes save lives. I don't believe that either. I am told my bright orange Wing with all the lights up front including driving lights turned on all the time, can easily be seen in group rides away back in the rear, even a half a mile away. Visibility save lives as the brightness of the bike catches auto drivers attention, and they then act accordingly. This likely keeps them from turning left into my path, which is a large problem with accidents between bikes and cars. Loud pipes aka Harley, are not a safety feature, just an annoyance to others (IMO) Also I have found that cars don't tailgate me much at all, since they recognize the wide rear end of the Wing as a motorcycle and then back off. I'm not sure that is the reason, but it is a fact they don't creep up on me as much as they do while I am driving either of my cars. Strange perhaps but true.... Visibility and attention grabbing seems to be one key to staying alive.......
i personally love the mid shift position. I believe that is the correct posture for riding a motorcycle. I rode a 76 CB 750 touring bike for a couple of years. It was a heavy iron pig but it ran like a MF.
The only touring bike that is better than a 01-17 Goldwing is a 18 or newer Goldwing. I waited awhile and bought a new leftover Goldwing Tour DCT in May. Really liked my 08 Wing but so far I’m loving my new DCT. Keep up the great work 😎
Couple of days ago me and my friend were trying to pull out of a parking lot and we heard a loud motorcycle before we saw it. We couldn’t see him till he went by us. So loud pipes save lives
At low speed, you'll hear them as well as all the people in their houses or the ones walking or cycling or eating on the terrace. For unknown reasons, those pipes seem louder when the rider is at a stop sign or just about to go...lolllllllllll
My first bike was a Honda Goldwing 1000 1975 when my daughter was about 10 years old we rode to see my father about 60 miles away had a nice visit and then we return home freeways are the way and what I got to buy house she was asleep on the back of it. That's how smooth and quiet a Goldwing is. The biggest mistake I ever had is when I sold it. That I bought a Yamaha Maxim after that I bought a Honda Shadow 750 and I knew that it wasn't the bikes that I wanted. Now I have another Goldwing 1500 and it's quietest smoothest hike I've ever owned. I can't think of any reason why somebody would ride something other than a cold thing
Lovely. For some reason, it doesn't look like a typical motorcycle, engine showing nicely, that persona, that appeal. Might win in every other area tho. I have a restored Yanaha Venture Royale 2 tone maroon that looks like a sport, touring, performance bike, goes like one, smooth, comfy. i think its under rated. few issues, wind buffeting, need a windshield vent, saddlebag covers come off not attached minor detail, smallish range, ... but other than that a gorgeous looking, perfotming bike.
Replace the steering bearings with All Balls, prepare to replace the ECM (now 1000 bux) , and yes they are excellent bikes. 06 and up do not have the ECM issue.
EVERY Goldwing is the greatest motorcycle of all time (except, of course, for the Super Cub, which is a class of its own). Each new generation pulls the whole industry up another step. I find it amusing that you quoted the Harley Scripture before riding (Ps 121:1), but the Goldwing isn't likely to leave you at the roadside waiting for a flatbed tow. The reason you rarely find a used Wing with low miles is because they get RIDDEN, instead of parked and polished. Harley guys ride to show off, Wing guys ride to RIDE. You see the Harleys parked outside of bars; Wings are parked outside of Walmart . . .the next state over.
I have to disagree with you about the pipes. I own a Goldwing and a Harley shovelhead with straight pipes, two big extremes. I think the reason that the two statistics are more similar is because riders with loud pipes tend to be more aggressive riders while bigger, quieter bike riders tend to be more conservative and/or experienced riders. My Harley definitely lets people know I am beside them whereas I have had to use the wing"s air horn many times when people don't realize i am there.
Roger, do it buy the wing. I rode a 97 Valkyrie for 15 years before I bought my 06 Wing, that Valkyrie sits in the garage now retired. I can’t stay off the wing.
I put quite a few miles on my 2008 Honda Goldwing Audio Comfort Navi in red metallic. Great bike...but, I didn't like the 5 speed. The reason why is fuel range. My friend had a 2005 BMW R1150RT with a 6 speed and the same size fuel tank. When I needed fuel, he still had about half a tank left. I realize that his engine is smaller, but he was also at half the rpms as I was on the highway at 70-75 mph. The most I could ever comfortably go before refueling was around 170-180 miles. On a touring motorcycle with 6.6 gallons, that's terrible. Unfortunately, the new Goldwings have smaller fuel tanks with the added gears, so the problem might be the same. At least I'd spend less on fuel.
Point of mention: 2:23 - The GL1800 does not come with air suspension. The last Wing with air preload assist was the GL1500. I like what SRK Cycles does, but sometimes you guys need to do a better job researching before you make statements about bikes.

Nowadays people have windows up, A/C blasting and music even louder to drown out the A/C noise. If they can't hear all the sirens on my fire truck when i'm driving they definitely can't hear your motorcycle.
Thank you truth spoken
Im 59 been riding for 30 plus years . Over the years ive owned 7 goldwings and a big Kawasaki Voyager. The wing is king !!!
I have a 92 voyager XII. Love it. But I've always wanted a goldwing aspencade
I will never give away my Voyager for a Goldwing..!
Agree.....👍👍👍👍
@@tealtazmanian966 But I'm not a real fan of the automatic version. But long live the King!!!
And, it's not the destination, it's the trip.
wife and rode from Redding ca back to yelm Washington. it rained all the way⛈🤣. wife 5'0" I'm 5'11" she didnt even get wet.
I'm from Oregon. I'd never move back lol.
The Goldwing was originally developed as touring bike, though a sporty one. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Gold_Wing
@@SoloPilot6 Yeah you might be right, I think the source I looked at was poorly written.
Awesome
I've had a 2009 GL1800 Audio/Comfort for about 8 years. I've owned dozens of bikes over my lifetime. The Goldwing is hands-down the best Motorcycle ever made! It's amazing how well the GW shoots out of a fast turn. Also, solid as a rock. Thing runs like a clock.
I used to tour the US on Harleys. Now I ride a 2018 Goldwing. I doubt I could ever go back.
Really, I've had both and an LT BMW. I'd like to build one bike with features from each.
Moto Mengy I’m with you, HD’s are American bla bla, but the Honda always has and always will be the best touring bike made. No comparison between the two.
Hi, I am very interested in your experance as I am between the Honda gold wing and the new HD fatboy. I can't decide
@@danthechippie4439 honestly in my opinion they are two completely different bikes. Goldwing is more touring oriented while fat boy is more a cruiser
@@danthechippie4439such different bikes. If you intend to ride for more than an hour at a time and intend on taking a passenger,The Wing all day long. And the odds of a breakdown on the Honda is very low, unlike the Tubby Lad.
There are motorcycles, then there is Goldwing. Good video young man.
My wife had an '02 Goldwing 1800. It was a great bike, and orange ! Smooth, powerful, corners well, and eats up the miles.
*Remember, it's not what you're riding, but where you're going... *
Amen to that 👍❤️
I would say it's neither. It's simply about you riding and enjoying yourself, no matter the destination (as long as it's not off a cliff).
I bought my first Goldwing a few weeks ago. Granted it’s a bit older. It’s an ‘83 GL1100, but it has been a blast to work on. I can’t wait to ride it.
That generation was built like a tank. Loved mine
I just picked up one today! I’m so excited
I've had an 82 GL1100 for a few years. Great bike!
Most of the time you won’t hear until the bike is right on top of you.
ya Harleys have that nice growl to their exhaust but thats it....A car driver would have the radio on or be talking to a passenger so they are not goin to notice anything noise....
Moral of the story: car drivers are idiots.
From a truck, when visibility isn't always good, the sound of a bike coming switches me on to the fact there's a bike coming. Yeah, you should always check, 'think bike', look twice, it's all useful.
That was one of the prettiest Goldwings I've ever seen. Great review Sean.
I bought that exact bike last year and I absolutely LOVE IT!
one small correction, it doesn't have air suspension, they stopped putting air on them during the change over to that body style.
5:43 the best part. The rider salutting!!
"For when you're putting your wife on the back, or your girlfriend."
Let's be real, if youve got a goldwing, it's wife 😂
My girlfriend says you're wrong. ;)
Hahahah yes 😂
Or your daughter. Just sayin... :D
11 months later and I bought a Goldwing from SRK cycles, but the wife didn't come with it, whats going on here?
The wife is also a grandma
5:10 THANK YOU! I’ve been saying this for years and people refuse to let go of that loud pipes nonsense no matter what evidence is put forth. Visibility and defensive riding matter so much more that noise, and a high frequency sound like a horn is always more effective than a low frequency sound like loud exhaust.
Yup, and the Goldwing has one of the best horns ever made....sounds like a transport truck and no one can miss it.
Agree 100% ….. I own and ride an Electra Glide and an 08 GL1800. My poor Harley is feeling lonely these days
Got a 2002 1800 last month 29,000 miles..runs like a champ..smooth and fast...

I just bought a 2013 with a trike kit on it and it's amazing!!! My wife is learning to ride it.
My 03 GL1800 has 91K and still going strong, it's a red A model with ABS brakes and I love it.
We rode ours from WV to California and back. We also took a BMW K1200LT out there and back. I feel like the Honda did just a tick better. I didn't like the dead air space, it got very hot in Vegas when it was 107 degrees.
I don't need a phone mount, so the 25% off promo code is a moot point. How about the 25% discount code for the Goldwing?
I couldn't agree more 😊
I got 34% off when I bought mine, I found a brand new 2016 in a dealer's showroom last year with a sticker of 24,999 and the dealer let me have it for 16,499.
@@arthurschamne That's awesome!!
I love it! It's my dream bike. I was lucky to have a 79 Honda 500 in 85'. So smooth. The best out there 😊

I have several friends that ride gold wings and one of them said his wife falls asleep on the back all the time. One day I will own one

Nothing wrong with the newer wings, it's just not for me
I have ridden the 1800 and the 1500. I like the way my 1200 sits much better. I think I will stay with it.
Great video! I have a 2005 Wing with 168000 miles on it and still runs like new!
I have to agree with you 100% I had a 98 Wing I was hit head on the bike took most of the hit but because they are so nimble I was able to maneuver my bike for less of an impact I just couldn’t afford another at that time but maybe some day
I would live to own a Goldwing. Ive heard many good things about them. Are they good for short riders at about 5 ft 4?
I bought a 2007 Goldwing brand new put 81,000 miles on it, eight sets of tires one set a fork rings that's it nothing else broke there a great motorcycle.
My grandpa has a goldwing he brought brand new in 2002 I believe and has drove it 2 times. Last time I checked it had 600 miles on it.
My very first ride was on my brothers Honda Goldwing in 1975. I was 8 y/o.
Thanks to srk I have more knowledge about all my friends harleys than they do. I rock a cbr600rr. 😭
Test rode a 2018 Goldwing Tour DCT for 4 hours, felt like riding across country
This happens to all G-Dubya owners.
Honda Gold wing definitely my favorite.
For so many reasons as he points out.
The joy of the vibration and sound of the Harley dissipates quickly. The smoothness of a Goldwing never goes away. I prefer the joy of smoothness and lack of Hundred Dollars (HD) every other month 10 to 1.
I'm sure someone pointed this out, but, it isn't adjustable air suspension. Only the rear is adjustable and it is adjustable hydraulic preload.
I've been thinking of pulling the trigger on a late 90s Wing, as they are now so affordable...im talking 1500 bucks. This video made my mind up.
Loud pipes aka Harley, are not a safety feature, just an annoyance to others (IMO)
Also I have found that cars don't tailgate me much at all, since they recognize the wide rear end of the Wing as a motorcycle and then back off.
It took awhile but I actually found something to agree with you on! Loud pipes do not save lives.
The only touring bike that is better than a 01-17 Goldwing is a 18 or newer Goldwing. I waited awhile and bought a new leftover Goldwing Tour DCT in May. Really liked my 08 Wing but so far I’m loving my new DCT. Keep up the great work 😎
Can’t wait my rokform phone case and Mount are getting delivered today! Glad I got the 25% off with you guys!
I have a 2014 Valkyrie and I love it! I was influenced by your videos Shawn. Thanks!
I'm a fan of all motorcycles and the advice that I can give y'all is be yourself. You choose whatever motorcycle you want because it's your money.
I'm a VTX 1300 owner. Goldwing may be my next purchase..
Roger, do it buy the wing. I rode a 97 Valkyrie for 15 years before I bought my 06 Wing, that Valkyrie sits in the garage now retired. I can’t stay off the wing.
The 5th gen Goldwing 1800's do not have Air suspension. It is hydraulic. The 1500 series has air.
I'll admit I tend to lust a little more after the K1600GT, but I would love a Goldwing just as much.
The BMW K1600GT is a nice bike too and it's more powerful than the GW.
The boxer engine is really smart it makes the vibrations horizontal instead of vertically
Point of mention:
2:23 - The GL1800 does not come with air suspension. The last Wing with air preload assist was the GL1500.
I like what SRK Cycles does, but sometimes you guys need to do a better job researching before you make statements about bikes.
That verse you through in there is awesome - made my day! And I have a yellow 2010 Airbag version - I love it!
You had me 😂🤣 when you explained sharing the storage space between couples!
