Del Shannon was one of the best songwroter/performes of the era of the 60's. His songs will live on forever and I perform a few of his most popular songs at shows that I do. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, people want to hear them. Secondly, I feel the need to pay tribute to him for the enjoyment he brought to my generation! I wish he could have had the opportunity to talk out his problems with a professional instead of haveing taken his life! His talent is sorely missed!

He set the standard for the Beatles , the Stones and many groups that would follow in subsequent years. HE was the voice of classic rock. Sad that he didn't fully realize how much impact he had and how revered he was.

Such a waste. Still remember the day in 1990 when the news came through of his passing. So annoyed I never saw him perform on his frequent visits to Australia. RIP Del, we miss you so much.
He had so many great songs and sang them for so many years, but to find that he couldn't continue because of the feeling he couldn't go on in life and took his own. What can we do for people who have this feelings that life is ending without reason. I don't know the answer, but we all should try to help with people who have these same thoughts.
