  • This video shows us traveling from Utah Highway 24 heading West towards Mollys Castle. Mollys Castle is a remote 5,265-foot elevation summit located near Goblin Valley State Park, in Emery County, Utah (South Central Utah, North of Hanksville approximately 20 Miles). Mollys Castle is situated 2.3 mi east of Wild Horse Butte, and one-half mile outside the park's east boundary. The top of this magnificent butte rises 265 feet above its surrounding terrain. Precipitation runoff from Mollys Castle enters the Colorado River drainage basin.

    This channel is amazing!!! Love that you show the full trail! What gps software do you have? If you have any gpx tracks from your trips that you would like to share or sell... keep me in mind. Great job!@@

      Thanks for the wonderful comment and viewing our channel. We use a Garmin Overlander that we download GPS tracks mainly from "TrailsOffRoad.com". I really haven't created much of any GPS tracks as of yet. Maybe as our channel grows that may be something that we end up providing to our subscribers. Thanks again for commenting and viewing our channel. It is sincerely appreciated.

    That's an interesting road and an interesting geologic feature.
    I always charge every battery I have before going on a trip so I don't have dead batteries partway through something.
    If you read the book about Toyota you see that the Tundra was designed only to go to the mall, not offroad. People take them offroad and a lot of them find out the hard way.

      As far as Toyota's you are correct. You really have to do some major upgrades to a Toyota to have it perform off-road. As far as drones...I have a legacy Autel X-Star Premium and have only 3 decent batteries left. They are notorious for having challenges with their batteries. I had a friend lose her Autel drone in a lake because it fell out of the sky just like mine did just before visiting Molly's Castle. I will be getting a new drone soon. Leaning towards a Skydio right now. Any suggestions?

    great video, enjoyed it. Have you tried putting the drone in "follow mode" for the jeep?

      Hi Dave! I have tried "Follow" mode but have not had much success. I have two "Legacy" drones (Autel X-Star Premiums). This year I will be upgrading to a new drone. I am looking at Skydio Drones but just not sure what level of equipment to purchase. It will either be the Skydio 2+ Enterprise or Pro. I acquired my "Professional sUAV" pilots license last September but not sure if I want to enter the commercial world of Drones. I want it to remain fun...Hope all is great for you and yours and thanks for stopping by my channel...Much appreciated

      Thanks for letting me tag along. I have been passing spots like this on 24 and I am curious where these roads go to and if any nice camping spots might be out there. Since I get around by Grand Marquis and/or mountain bike I can say with a high degree of confidence that I won’t be getting out there anytime soon. Too sandy and that Tundra Wash is an absolute show stopper for me.

      Thanks for the great comment Walter! There is access to Mollys from Goblin Valley State Park and I am sure your "GM" can get to the park but definitely not the road to Mollys from there as it is 4-Wheel Drive only as well. Not sure how far it is but the mountain bike would probably do it or maybe even a hike. Again, thanks for the comment and watching our video...Much appreciated.

    Howdy - When you recommend 4WD, does that include AWD (i.e Bronco Sport Outer Banks)?

    • @cactushill
      @cactushill  Год назад

      Just so we are clear...AWD is totally different than 4WD. This being said, I looked up the "Bronco Sport Outer Banks" and the model I saw was a 2023 and in the specs it said it had 4WD. Not knowing how much experience you have off-road, I would recommend getting together with someone with a 4WD vehicle and taking on some easy trails. You can go to "TrailsOffRoad.com" and they have run quite a few trails in Utah and many other states. They have a rating system and a write up of each trail along with pictures. They also put out videos on RUclips. Anyway, to travel the trail I show on the video you would need a 4WD with some ground clearance to get through the "Toyota Tundra Wash". That is really the only difficult part of the road. Now if you keep going past Mollys Castle and head towards Goblin Valley State Park, the road has a decent obstacle as soon you head out. There is a bypass that would, more than likely, need 4WD as well. I haven't been on that section of road to Goblin Valley State Park but I hear it's a little rough. Anyway, I hope this helps answer your question.
