I don't think I would like the steaks that are cut with the grain rather than across. It would make them tough and harder to cut at the table.

Just did this, took me about 10 minutes, pretty easy! A couple notes that others might find helpful: I dried mine off before starting and also, I made sure I sharpened my knife. I also cut a nice, personal-sized roast for dinner before I started cutting the slices. Looks like I'm going to be eating ham for a while!

This is a Good ham. Cheapest ive paid is 1.50 oer pound. Usually around 9 lbs minus weight of the ham bone.
Currently are 3 dollars per pound on sale. Gonna buy one might try one side for steaks. Was gonna run like 4 pounds threw my meat slicer real thin in 200 gr portions for lunch meat to. 4 pounds should equal 20 bags. Then rest in steaks. Ham rules!

Ham is probably the best economical meat that everyone in my family loves. I cook a whole ham rather than cut up before cooking. But I don't find such large hams except at Easter and Thanksgiving and I don't have a freezer to stock up. This means I usual buy hams around $1.60/lb. and they are 7 to 8 pounds. We (wife and 2 boys) eat a big weekend meal and then I save most of the rest for sandwiches through the week. Nothing makes a better sandwich than leftover ham. And I save 1/2 lb. more plus your bone cut to make beans and ham which will usually make 2 meals with only cornbread for a side. Use a pressure cooker with that center bone and 2 lbs. of beans and you only need to cook 1 to 1.5 hours to have everything falling off the bone..That's three meals and several excellent sandwiches for lunch..Do you just pan fry your ham steaks? Probably a silly question, but I've never cooked a slice of ham..I need to buy one of those food savers. I didn't know they were so inexpensive..Great video. I'll be taking a look at others you've posted.

I usually throw the sliced ham in the microwave to heat it up-and have fried the ham with eggs.
      .
I wanted to get a pressure cooker, what kind do you have? I would love to try the fast ham/bean soup.
      .
Food savers on craigslist are cheap and you can get bags on e-bay or at aldi food stores.

I'm using a 6 quart Power Pressure Cooker XL. It's sturdy and the perfect size for a family of four. It was a gift from my mother-in-law and greatly appreciated as I was unfamiliar with the benefits of a pressure cooker for any 'wet' recipe (and some other items too). Stews, tough meats, and Italian sauces are done in half the time, maybe less. But when I have to replace it, I'm seriously considering one of the Instant Pots. I can't speak to their quality since I don't own one, but if you surf recipes on RUclips as much as I do, the Instant Pot has a TON of chefs demonstrating their recipes..Pressure cookers are based on physics. If you raise the pressure in a constant volume, you get higher temperature. My cooker's highest pressure setting is for canning. I've started cooking my recipes on that canning settings and the cooking time has come down. I'm still tweaking and learning, but this utensil is a must for a serious cook interested in getting a meal on the table quickly.
