Sadly as hard as us old hippies tried and still try the world is one phuqued up place and we can only hope that the young hippies of today and the hippies of future generations get it sorted out! Listening to more Leon Russel can't hurt!

@@crabnebula1914 I was lucky growing up in that I had an older sister and two older brothers who introduced me to the whole spectrum of 60's music.Leon was one of the earliest examples of me striking out on my own.He was the inspiration to take my piano lessons seriously, something I previously hated and I thank my 100 year old mother to this day for forcing me into taking them.
This is simply an amazing song. Great changes…tight groove. Especially the ending refrain.
Got to see him at 3 Willie Nelson's 4th of July picnics. 3 in the morning, sitting between a kicker and a hippie, big fat one passing between us. Leon's music centered us, his experience showed us life.

My favorite song by Leon. There was a sci fi book by that title from Robert Heinlein back then in the 60s that was popular. I recognize that one scene from the movie "Paris Texas" with Harry Dean Stanton. Good movie too.

2:34. This is where the best part of the song comes in as Leon starts singing in syncopation. I saw him perform many times in person and I don't know why, but he would always leave this part out.
interesting, Warren Zevon would do that too, maybe it's a piano guy thing? Or maybe it was something the studio/producers wanted but Leon wasn't digging it?

20 Feet From Stardom...excellent movie. I had a dream to maybe b a backup singer, until I realized how REALLY TALENTED they are. I used to sing "ok" but never at that level. Nice to dream tho. Backup singers CREATE t hook we all sing-along with. "RESPECT!"
