I think it took moving away from my home state of Fl. to Colorado for me to recognize the the subtle but beautiful natural areas of Fl. Salt marsh vistas, spring boils, oak hammocks, wild rivers, and of course beaches. Been back in Fl. now 30+ years nearing retirement and looking forward to rediscovering those subtly beautiful Nebraskas and grandly beautiful Rocky Mtn. states. Love your channel.
In Southeast Nebraska, learning about state government is a "thing" in the 4th grade. Learning about state government also includes a field trip/tour of the state capital building. I remember going on that field trip tour and being so impressed with the state capital building. It's grandeur has not worn off...it's BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for showing a little bit of our good life!
The capitol building in Lincoln is affectionately (?) known to Nebraskans as “The P***s of the Plains.” Once you see it you know why. Lived there for 11 years and I only toured the building once. Thanks for providing a tourist’s eye to it’s beauty. Sometimes we get too busy to enjoy what’s in front of our faces!
I was born and raised in Nebraska, grew up in Omaha and lived there most my life. I recently moved to Lincoln but wouldn’t trade my upbringing in Omaha for anywhere else. It really is a great city and so clean and friendly. Thanks for showing my hometown and I am glad y’all enjoyed it.
Northwest Nebraska is stunning! If you get the chance you have to go to Ft. Robinson. It has a ton of old west history. We used to take our kids camping there. The scenery is amazing with rock bluffs and pine trees and they had horseback riding, jeep tours, crafts for the kids, stagecoach rides, swimming pool, chuckwagon dinners & rodeos. They also have a restaurant on site. We recently camped there on our way from Casper, Wyoming to Grand Island, NE. We love it there!
I lived in Nebraska back in the 70's and 80's. I absolutely loved Nebraska. The people were wonderful. The state capital building was beautiful. Even now I sometimes find myself regretting that I moved away. Sometimes I think about retiring to the Scotts Bluff/Chadron area. Fort Robinson is absolutely amazing. Oh, one thing more: those one-way streets in downtown Lincoln can be very confusing to a visiter, especially at night. I once found myself headed the wrong way just as the light ahead turned green and a row of headlights were coming my way. Yikes!
We loved your comment "We didn't want to unhitch just for donuts". However, no problem to drive a 30' Airstream down one way streets in downtown Lincoln and find parking "...just for donuts". Great video as always and Happy Holidays!
We just stumbled across your channel tonight. Im born and raised in Nebraska. I've lived in Lincoln since 1986. Only toured the capital once on a high school field trip in 1987. My wife and I both said we need to go take the tour now that we can appreciate it. Lol. We just binge watched all your Nebraska videos. Great job! We are looking forward to watching all your other videos now too. Stay safe and happy camping!
Lifelong Linolnite here. Glad you enjoyed the city on your stay! Nebraska is full of good people and that's what makes it so special. We don't mind being a flyover state or when people ask where you're from and don't know where Nebraska is lol. We don't try harder really, we're just that much nicer then everyone else ;) Love your channel been watching for a good year or more. Look forward to more videos!
The building that Hurts doughnut is in was the first original court house. And a small building on the other side was the first original post office. Thanks for visiting Lincoln. I have lived here many years. I moved away for 5 years and ended up back here and I hate it here. Thanks for the kind words about Nebraska
Nebraska has some of the best pheasant and deer hunting in the states. So it is a great state for outdoor sportsmen's. Lots of county and city parks offer free water and electric for overnight to 3 days for RVers. Great video!
So Nebraska is the quiet, reserved, bright-eyed, happy puppy in the litter instead of the ornery, slipper-chewing, yipping pup that commands everyone’s attention? I think I’d really like the Nebraska puppy 😉🐶 Thanks for another informative and fun video! Merry Christmas! 🎄
Just stumbled across your channel because of this video. I grew up in Lincoln but now live in the central area. I'm so glad people come see our great state, it's got more to offer than people think. As for state capitals, I would go check out Louisiana's old state capital. I used to live at Fort Polk, and we made a trip to Baton Rouge. They have the old and new buildings but the old one looks like a castle. It's incredibly beautiful. One cool thing about Lincoln's capital, you can use the building to get married for free. As long as your guests list is under 50. My cousin got married in one of the courtyards.
You always do such a fabulous job at telling the history of an area or building! And wow - what an awesome building. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Capitol Building - now we will make an effort - WOW! “Nebraska has to try harder”. Ah ha ha - I totally get that.
Homestead National Monument is there too! Despite being in a tiny little place, it's an extraordinarily cool place to learn about the Homestead Act that opened the West! The Donuts and the National monument are well worth the trip to Beatrice, NE!
You are biking where I walked every day all the time! 5 to 8 miles a day! Great Scenery 👌 Guys! Thanks for sharing your video! This is another reason for the Van life! A very Merry Christmas to you! And of course everyone wants a hurts donut! They're delicious! Shoemakers' Truck stop is also a fun place to visit next time you come to Lincoln NE! They will roll out the red carpet. And so will St. Mary's Church across from the Capital because it is also a historical landmark!
Thanks for being so kind with your wonderful comments about our Nebraska. Lots of things to see and do when you get away from the interstate. Safe travels and Merry Christmas!!
I started watching your videos awhile back. I never thought about you making it to Nebraska. I wondered if you would be the normal traveler and just take the Interstate. And now I know why I like your videos even more. You take the roads least traveled. I traveled with my Dad on business projects as a kid and on my own. I have been to almost every state, except Georgia. Being in the airport in Atlanta 5 times doesn't count. There are nice places in every state. The best time to visit a state is when the climate is at it's best. September and October in Nebraska usually can not get any better. Keep up the good work. I love your videos for all the informative information.
I thought for a minute that you were giving him the smaller half of that bacon maple bar. I expected fireworks! Salem Oregon also has a beautiful capital building, built in Art Deco style in the 1930s, with no dome. They also give tours and the building is full of locally inspired artwork.
Great to see (watch) you guys again (have been off RUclips for about a year). Congrats on your channel's growth! Always a white-knuckle evolution towing through downtown surface streets. We have enjoyed Harvest Hosts ... use them almost exclusively on our cross-country trips. Let us know if you think you'll be in the Tetons this coming summer!! Take care..
We enjoyed the little bit of Nebraska that we saw but it looks like we missed a lot. We will have to go back. We also enjoyed Kansas and Oklahoma. The traffic in Lincoln did not look bad at all. That's usually why we stay away from the big cities. We have been to several capital buildings and will now add the one in Lincoln as a must see! Thanks for sharing! You guys have a very Merry Christmas!
I have always thought if you come to Nebraska you have to be the kind of person who doesn't have to be entertained. Nebraska is a great place just to be.
I got excited for a minute as I live here and have an '03 E350 gas though but also could tell this was recorded some time ago. It's a good thing as we got a blizzard yesterday
I love finding small cafes across the country One is Six Mile Café located six miles south of Dawson, Nebraska on state highway 75 just south of highway 4. They have outstanding huge fried port tenderloin sandwiches, the best fried onion rings and pies to die for. Another great eatery is One Stop Cafe located in Falls City, Nebraska. They make the best fresh baked cinnamon rolls anywhere. Very small corner cafe in an old service station building at 2103 Stone St.
Thanks for the shout-out for Duck Donuts! You enjoyed them at our coast and you need to be aware we now have a Duck Donuts in Winston Salem, NC. Thanks for your updates!
Thank you for all your great videos! I've have been attempting to watch all from the very beginning of your travel, and even watching some a second and third time. You folks are certainly an inspiration. Keep up the good work. Happy and safe 2021. Hope to see you on the road. Cheers.
Can you do a video on the stickers in your van? They look awesome and would like to know more. I collect patches of places we have been to. Also collect patches for food, beer, and events we experienced. We have approximately 300 patches and consider each patch a visual reminder of our life experiences.
Thankfully you were here earlier the year. On Monday it was very nice like in your video and 70 degrees, Tuesday turned cold and windy with a high around 40 and Wednesday we had a nasty windy blizzard with a high in the 20's!
When I was young My older brother asked if I wanted a Hurts Donut, I said yes, he slugged me in the arm and said Hurts Don't it! I never knew there was a real Hurts Donut.
You guys need to come back through Omaha. Lots of good food places. One of the better cities outside of Chicago. Best thing about Lincoln is Husker Football Saturdays which not a thing for 2020.
Interesting tidbit about the Capital building in Lincoln. No building in the city can be built taller than the capital per city building code that dates back close to 80+ years
Having grown-up in Nebraska, here's some historical truth about the Nebraska state capitol building. Among us natives, it is nick-named the "penis of the prairie". Google it. The architects had some fun with its design because there is a pioneer figure on top who is sowing his seed. Quite the metaphor, isn't it? Another unique fact is that this is the only State legislature in the USA that is a unicameral. Unlike other states that have a house and a senate, there is only one legislative body, a unicameral. I am enjoying your videos. They are entertaining and fun!
Thanks for taking us along with you exploring a state we knew nothing about. Very informative and entertaining as always. Nadolig Llawen/Happy Christmas from Wales🌟
It’s kind of tricky with donuts. Often the memory taste does seem better than the present taste. Gotta do a comparison. Get a dozen from Hurts and head for Duck Donuts in North Carolina!
Appreciate your work on these videos. Very helpful for some of us to take virtual trips out of our houses during the Covid-19 Pandemic. As the British say, "Happy Christmas".
I totally understood the "bad napkin" comment. I hate it when I run into the same problem. And how exactly do you make a "quick U turn " while towing a trailer?
We always love touring Capitols! All the ones we've been to have been really neat and they're all unique. We've driven through Lincoln multiple times but never stopped (too many miles to drive, not enough time) so that was fun to see your video.
Too bad the museum was closed. Would love to see it someday. We've been to a few state capitals and enjoy them. Santa Fe has lots of cool artwork. We enjoy our home state's (CO) since you can go inside the dome's structure - TJ might like that. Awesome donuts!!

Man that look more like a church in the capital beautiful artwork yeah I like to seen car museum myself you too take care and have a great Christmas see you next week

You are trespassing on private property and can be arrested just as someone coming onto your property could be arrested. In this case you could have stood outside the 20-25 feet from the middle of the track and explained what you said just as well, legal and safe. You can be a real help to encourage others to stay off railroad right of way. As an RVer myself and a retired train engineer, I enjoy your postings and hope I have enlightened you concerning rail safety. Best donuts in Nebraska are south of Lincoln in a small town of Beatrice at Sunrise Bakery. They are World Class donuts.
Homestead National Monument is there too! Despite being in a tiny little place, it's an extraordinarily cool place to learn about the Homestead Act that opened the West! The Donuts and the National monument are well worth the trip to Beatrice, NE!
I think most RUclipsr ignore the Midwest. Thank you for stopping as you travel home to Florida. Your videos have been great !

It is absolutely beautiful. I am there every day if you want more pictures just link the email in a comment and I will send you all you want.
You guys complement each other very well !

Glad you enjoyed our state! Good to see it through another set of eyes.
He flipped that knife open SO COOL! "Dad napkins"? I've never heard of that before.
When I was young My older brother asked if I wanted a Hurts Donut, I said yes, he slugged me in the arm and said Hurts Don't it!
I never knew there was a real Hurts Donut.
Hurts is a chain. They are also in Springfield and Branson Missouri. Maybe other location as well.
I live here and never heard of Hurts Donuts. Will check them out.
You guys need to come back through Omaha. Lots of good food places. One of the better cities outside of Chicago. Best thing about Lincoln is Husker Football Saturdays which not a thing for 2020.

You are probably referring to the Old Courthouse which is still there and part of the Arch grounds area now however it was never the state capital building. There have been several capital buildings in Missouri, one in St. Louis, St. Charles and three in Jefferson City.
Tour the Texas capital building in Austin Texas. Very nice to see.
I bet Nebraska has some friendly people. I love the farming areas.
Bismark ND is a tower also, really cool.
Nebraska has some style!
Awesome history and tour! Hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas! Much love from SC, Jane❤️🎄

YOu showed the close-up of the state capitol floor looks like individual little square tiles. I wonder how long it took for the title setter to install the entire floor?
Check out Pennsylvania’s Capitol bldg in Harrisburg- it is stunning!
Nice, Very good job.

You kids are so young. How do you support your traveling and expences?
