Love these videos mate. I've been waiting 5 years to see stuff like this where we can talk about the characters and theory craft different builds.
I remember when we were designing the Priest and play testing, I would always choose to play that class. I will say, the Desperate Prayer ability is a game changer. Don't give up on it just yet and remember that when you use it, the target character heals 1 health for EACH success you roll. I remember times when I would heal a character from 1 health back up to 4 or even full health. It really can pay off when the group is in bad shape.
The Avi character actually had the ability to use Bows in early designs, but he was so powerful with it that we had to take it away. That's where those unarmed attacks originated from. They are intended to let him do some ranged damage while still being in healing range of other characters since he is the only other true healing class.
For the Penitent - he really shines when he has his full ability selection. He gets stronger with the more damage he takes and some of his abilities can really lay down some damaged. You can always try to swap him with the Priest and use his full ability set while letting the priest be a companion? Just a recommendation because he is a lot of fun when you turn him loose.
As for the Ursus - also lots of fun and has some really thematic abilities. I can't remember which abilities he gets from the start, but I know he has one ability that lets him push tress over to crush enemies and has the ability to throw smaller enemies across the map which is hilarious.
Anyway, love the videos mate and can't wait to see more!

      Hi Toby!
Can I just first say “thank you!” For creating such an amazing game! After going down the Kickstarter rabbit hole, this is the game I have been looking for all these years! Thematically, mechanically even miniature wise it just hits everything I have wanted in a big box game!
Aside from that, thank you for the above advice! Am looking forward to giving the ‘Desperate Prayer’ card a good run out now! Along with that, I don’t want to miss out on the Ursus and Penitent’s cool abilities… I think I may give chapter 3 a go with all four characters playing their ‘full’ mode! Thank you so much 🙏

So much Love is evident in this game: the characters uniqueness and design, the art, the story, the variety of even the small systems in the game, the quality of components, and the absolute hugeness of the whole game! I am so SO impressed! Congratulations to Toby, Jamie and the whole team at Shadowborne Games! What an absolute Masterpiece!

I played the Priest a huge amount during the testing. Desparate Prayer changes everything once you get it. I'm not sure if you are a dice roller or if you use the cards but I'd encourage you to use the cards. For Desparate Prayer you heal 1 HP for each success, so the ideal thing to do is have the other 3 characters go and get the white deck primed for you to do a big pull (meaning get those blanks into the discard pile). This will let you do a big heal and only take 1 damage in return for it.
The Avi is an incredible character if you are good at card counting. He is really potent once you start using his chain attacks and his ranged unarmed attacks to destroy minions. The Avi can certainly dish out some damage so just continue to tinker around with him. You've yet to experience some of the fights where his character is the MVP but they are coming. Killing hoards of minons and moving around the board quickly using Chain Attacks are a part of his build for a reason =)
The Pentitent is a great DPS tank kind of character and does well protecting the other characters. The Ursus can soak up damage and has some good group mobility moves.
I also saw your other video where you talk about switching the Priest to the Cur. The Cur is an incredible assassin type of character and is going to be one of your go-to choices for taking an enemy dice form 6 to 0 in a single attack. However, you've got to plan his moves carefully since he is quite squishy and can easily cause those break reactions to trigger. If you plan things well you can use the Cur to control the speed of when the boss transitions between phases on your terms.

Thanks Ant! I was going to give ‘Desperate Prayer’ a good run out… but then story events turned against me so I didn’t get that chance!
Am looking forward to honing the Avi’s talents for sure. Hopefully I will become a bit more experienced in using him before those fights come up that you mention!
