Awesome. Good to know what to do if you go over. Just got a PA 12 and the first trip was testing stability, rolling it over, practicing righting it, and getting back on. Every Kayak fisher should know how to self rescue. Thanks for the video.
Love my Outback..one of the single best purchases i have ever made. One hick up though...i and currently in the process of having the hull replaced by Hobie. I got 2 stress cracks in the hull on the corner of the center compartment. They no longer cary the Slate blue color so i had to choose another. Even with this issue i would not choose another Kayak!
Mine just recently tipped on me. It was loaded with gear for camping, stood up like I've done a thousand times and it flipped in the blink of an eye. Cost me three fishing rods! It's relatively "stable" but it will bite you. Oh, and righting it when it has gear in it is NOT easy.
that's a good flat-rippled water demo of the Outback stability. However, in rollers & waves of 2-3' with swell time of 4-9 seconds between waves, it's another story!
@@bezaleltinokunda8805 please type "wave swell" into RUclips search, many vids come up explaining it. Wave swell is followed closely here on the west coast for offshore ocean kayak fishing conditions.
Having been on the Old Town (while owning the Outback), I can confirm the Old Town is very stable. However, it's very slow and a wetter ride in the rough. That short, fat hull is great for sheer stability, but performance isn't great. I've got a video of both running side by side and the Old Town pushes a lot of water, as it just isn't efficient. It's still great for anyone who wants absolute protection against flipping, as it is super stable, but you can have too much of a good thing.

Great demonstration. Seems like the secondary stability is where it really shines.

Well done, I need to get out and practice self rescue in my outback. Darn haying season is getting in the way of my very short kayak season.
I like that he loses balance and falls in before the boat flips

True. I did a surf test not long after my first launch test: ruclips.net/user/shorts8llrabpIgMA?feature=share
Could you touch the bottom when you flipped the kayak back over?
That's what I was thinking
No, I could not touch the bottom. The lake is 10-15 feet at deep that location.
Great Kayak
Se eu tivesse dinheiro eu ia comprar um caiaque desse aí pra mim acho ele maguinifico mais é só mais um sonho 🙏
Great vid.. how much does he weigh
160 lbs
Is that a 12 or 14'?
The 2021 Outback is 13' long.
RIP to the oar
Oar was not lost... just misplaced for a short while😂
Just give it to me at this point
My old town sportsman 106 mk is more stable than that...and it's only 10' 6" long.
And how's the width
@@bezaleltinokunda8805 it's 37" wide.
@@davidalley7270 exactly lol some people don’t want a fuckin suv for a kayak.
