How is the Navigation/Infotainment ? I had the issue with the previous generation that I was always 2 km lag or sometimes on long distances even upto 10 km, often missed the exits. I hope this issue has been fixed ?
We didn’t notice that on either gen on the short journeys we used the inbuilt system, we tend to use Waze for road trips - by the way we’ve got the latest gen HS this week. 😀
Hi ben and annabelle hope you are fine and well in the future if you can do a review of the mg marvel if it ever comes to england thanks lee. keep up the good work
Hello Lee, of course we’d be delighted as well MG3 hybrid and MG4 Extended 😀 thank you for reaching out always, it’s guys like you that make it a joy to do.
Hiya mate, really enjoyed that. Yes I got one at the moment from Europcar in Chester as somebody has very kindly scratched all the down the side of my 24 plate Kia Sportage 1.6 GDI 48v MH GT Line in phantom black. So the insurers have it under repair. In the meantime I have one of these as a hire car, but despite it being a somewhat unsightly turdish brown, you defo hit the nail on the head about the power going up the hills. This car flies.... and so far I have spent £30 on pod point charging it up (credit still left on the app mind you) so I can fly round on electric and hybrid at my own choice. I also noticed that you had Kisstory on your DAB radio, same as :) Good choice man!! This is a cool car and I thought MG as a new range of cars were just another line of cheap crap like the first Skoda's that ever came out years ago before they went massive with Octavia and built by VW now and that. Just shows to never judge a book by it's cover, because this car is somewhat well cool....I can honestly say that I don't really want to give it back and how wrong I was about MG. This is well fun to drive, holds the road like glue and I love the whistle and the power when you sped off in electric. Makes you sound and feel like you are Jan Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine and you just whizzed past everyone in Airwolf❤👌.....stunning..ha ha ha ha....tarrrahhh now!!👋👋🚙🚁zoooom!!! Terrific fun zippy car you can throw all over the place and it drives for you😃
Sounds like you’re having a blast! Yes, MG have come a long way, and it pulls like a train. All Annabelle and I can hear now is the theme from Airwolf - which is not a bad thing at all! Thank you for your detailed post - Such a great read!
From about 1-2 miles to zero left, you are looking at an average of 3 hours and 15 mins. Tried and tested twice at Pod Point Chargers. Tesco Car Parks. Hope this helps.
We have the trophy auto ( not the plug in hybrid ) in Holborn blue & it is such a great car . The facelift has given it much more modern appeal & the seats are incredibly comfortable on long journeys . One negative is the slight hesitation of the DCT gearbox at slow speeds , quite noticeable when pulling out at junctions before it suddenly kicks in . If they can Iron out that it would be much improved . As it is it’s much better value than most of the competition & so comfortable .
Oh very nice, this doesn’t suffer from any hesitance due to the PHEV powertrain, and yes they’re great SUV, I don’t think I’ve driven the DCT I did love the manual though, peppy engine with or without electric, thank you Cookie
Hi Great explanation of the kit provided, But no mention of defrosting the windscreens, (shame on MG, ) such a small thing but very important, Regards welshman 2081
I recommend you watch our road trip from a year or so ago that highlights way more, in a review I don’t include everything otherwise it’d be an hour or so long 😆 in fact you mentioning this I just added demisting to the reportoire and the Qashqai I filmed 10 mins ago, thank you
We had the top spec when this launched - in fact we had two - mine and the husbands. Then we started to have issues with them unfortunately. What was good was the interior and spec. They’ve taken the pano roof off the spec list which is a huge shame given the price hikes. It is also crying out for AWD and more power
Which versions did you have? It’ll be interesting to see what happens to HS moving forward may be it’ll end up being hybrid only, I found it pulls like a train. 🚂
Interesting reason not to get one, mind you we choose vehicles based on our likes not others. It’s a great SUV with a good warranty. We had a Xsara Picasso’s for years, excellent MPV and the best of its class yet perceived by many as owned by a certain class of people, yet owned as a second vehicle by many.
As someone who is in receipt of DLA (now PIP) and due to change my current Motability vehicle to the MG HS on 5 May, I regard your comment as bigoted, imbecilic and insulting. The reason this car is popular amongst the Disabled is it’s value for money, ease of ingress/egress, comfort, roominess, styling and many other attributes which are also important to non-narrow minded able bodied drivers as well. You sound like the typical uneducated, entitled moron who parks in Disabled Bays even though you don’t have a Blue Badge.
Really enjoy your reviews. Just ordered my HS Trophy based on your review. Regards & thanks to you & Annabel.
Amazing to hear and thank you for the kind words Donna, road trip coming soon and keep us posted on your experience -

@@PlanetautoUK that's good to hear.
Hi, can you please tell if the 32 miles of electric range is over , what is the fuel economy only on petrol only ?
Thanks
This Gen 40-45 the new one closer to 55mpg.
Hi would it have a spare wheel compartment ? As I’m no fan of the kits . Thanks
There’s a lot of space for a space saver for these, and there is a bit of room if you remove the foam, full size wheel best bet check, thank you Exxel

Any reason you would recommend this over the new gen?
Alsi, do you feel this as looking dated over the new gen?
Thanks
The new one is better, but it’s still good there’s likely some great deals on this gen too.
They seem to go backwards sometimes no rear interior light or pan roof which our 2022 model has both
Yes, manufacturers change specs randomly, new 4 and 5 don’t have rear lights too, strange omissions DC
Does anyone know how long it takes to charge the battery ? Thanks
Erm I have a feeling it’s 4 and half but il check

AMT mode ( Google search it !!! ) MG HS AMT
All these reviews say it charges at 7KW got mine the other day it will only charge at 3 KW that’s using a 7KW type two cable
Random have you achieved 7 or above on other vehicles before?
Hi Great explanation of the kit provided, But no mention of defrosting the windscreens, (shame on MG, ) such a small thing but very important, Regards welshman 2081
Thank you, do you mean buttons as opposed to heater settings?
@@PlanetautoUK Thanks for the reply, Heater settings, to defrost the screens front and back, don't seem to see anything about doing this, Regards

@@PlanetautoUK Thank you
You’re welcome Ron
And to put my comments into some sort of perspective, my current car’s a Renault Zoe 50. I’ve no intention of returning to petrol or diesel vehicles.
Soothing commentary
You needly know it Neddy
A very nice vehicle, the only problem being that it isn’t fully electric!! I would never even look at a car with a petrol or diesel engine again!!
Yes, it’ll be interesting to see if this ever goes full ev, do you have a charger at home?

Lovely car , great value
Thank you Neville, yes the HS represents great value and a decent SUV
Your welcome
Having drove EV’s as part of my job I can assure you I will never own an EV for myself. Only petrol or diesel for me.
We’d have either, saves us an absolute fortune having a wall box, then those savings go in our retro motors 😀
You're going to be driving some old bangers in years to come then mate
Not always a bad thing, they come with a certain charm
@@PlanetautoUK I agree when it comes to occasional driving but wouldn't want to rely on one for everyday use
It depends on your circumstances, wall boxes and EV’s are the combo to have 😀
Was seriously considering an MG HS but it has a bad image problem. People might think I was on DLA.

Not sure that would be what makes someone think you are on DLA. 🤔
What is DLA ?
