This isn’t just cultural difference but also maturity difference. Those of you bashing that guy for his advice are clearly teens or uni aged kids who haven’t been to many serious job interviews (which is the real world equivalent of auditions). The whole point of the audition is to sell yourself. He wasn’t being a wanker, he was speaking the truth. There is absolutely zero reason why you should say anything to lend even the slightest tone of hesitation to what you have to offer. You guys who are young and inexperienced may think of that as her being humble (and truthfully, it probably is) but there is a time and place for that. Yeah but it's not America in my country people could also think it's not honest or you are just trying to show off because you know you are good, so other ways you are just sound fake. So i also think it was unnesessary but she was just nervous and didn't know what to say, or though that this could be kinda joke. Thts just cultural difference. In korea esp auditions as big as this bc most people dont wven get a chance like this to audition. In his defense all judges do have to be cold and sharp in korea. Its literally their job to be selctive. Its common in korea for many trainees after all the years of training end up work outside the industry bc kpop industry is already compacted. If the judges think whoever auditions cant be a fit they need to tell u like this to fix or else sad truth is u cant break the rules

For gods sake she wasn’t insulting or being rude to the judges, she was saying that her singing won’t be as good as they expect, which was obviously not true, but she believed so. Maybe it is because of the culturally different social actions and greetings, but she didn’t mean that in a bad way. And the judge(s) didn’t take it in a bad way either, he critiqued her by saying if she says things that show she’s not confident or ‘belittles’ her talents, they will lose interest. I mean it is a singing audition, if you say you don’t have a good voice then why would you audition? Bottom line is, the girl didn’t have the intention of insulting the judges. Dunno what comments people be posting. But I wanna say the judges were trying to help her by telling her to start with her strongest songs. It doesn't matter what other people do or the requirements they originally ask. Telling her not to self bash is also Important. When people admire your work or are fans, it brings them down to see self criticism no matter if true or not from the perspective of an artist. At the end of the day you show your best to get the best chance in whatever situation. So I really appreciated their input to her. She will have improved even if it just meant changing what she presents to another judging panel for a show in korea. Everything is a learning experience. Nothing helps more than putting yourself out there

As a Korean-American who understands both cultures well and who is looking at this situation in complete isolation (I haven’t watched any other UHSN vids yet), YES what she said comes off rude in Korean culture, but ANY KOREAN would be able to tell it’s from a cultural difference - that’s why the judge strictly corrected her, because that is how anyone in her position would learn - it just so happens that it happened in front of a camera for her.

Dunno what comments people be posting. But I wanna say the judges were trying to help her by telling her to start with her strongest songs. It doesn't matter what other people do or the requirements they originally ask. Telling her not to self bash is also Important. When people admire your work or are fans, it brings them down to see self criticism no matter if true or not from the perspective of an artist.
At the end of the day you show your best to get the best chance in whatever situation. So I really appreciated their input to her. She will have improved even if it just meant changing what she presents to another judging panel for a show in korea.
Everything is a learning experience. Nothing helps more than putting yourself out there

Quite frankly it doesn’t matter how talented someone is, if they have an ugly personality/attitude everything else is lackluster. She should’ve never talked to that idol the way she did, she shouldn’t feel comfortable talking to anyone the way she did actually. To use 당신 to a complete stranger is baffling, she won’t make it far if she doesn’t clean up her act.

Guysss stop with this. She said "당신 누구십니까" and it sounds like a detective in a show and its funny like a running man episode. Its not a rude 당신 its a 'keeping your distance' 당신. She was not rude please. If you properly spoke korean you would know.

As a Korean-American who understands both cultures well and who is looking at this situation in complete isolation (I haven’t watched any other UHSN vids yet), YES what she said comes off rude in Korean culture, but ANY KOREAN would be able to tell it’s from a cultural difference - that’s why the judge strictly corrected her, because that is how anyone in her position would learn - it just so happens that it happened in front of a camera for her.
