Founded in 1955 by Geoff Stirling and Don Jamieson, CJON-TV (NTV) became Newfoundland’s first television station. NTV pioneered 24-hour broadcasting in the 1970s, making it the world’s first continuous TV station.
In the 1980s, NTV went global via satellite, earning the title of Canada’s Superstation. The station remains a vital part of the community, covering events like the Janeway Children’s Telethon and the Royal St. John’s Regatta.
