- When it comes to law enforcement, every piece of new technology is worth exploring. Go in-depth with the Colonie Police Department, and learn how their team uses drones in order to increase efficiency, improve reaction time, and inevitably make law enforcement safer for everyone in play.
I'd suggest you add the year of video in the title, this video after some years can be used to track the evolution of police drones
Very cool. Definitely interesting to see Law Enforcement using consumer tech.
I thank law enforcement every time I encounter them for putting their lives on the line and for all the work that they do. I'm a type 1 diabetic and have had law enforcement be the first responders that pulled me out of severe hypoglycemia's on more than one occasion. That goes along with their slogan, "TO PROTECT AND TO SERVE".
Chasing bad guys into the woods was almost a nightly event when I was a Police Officer in Enterprise Alabama. Once they are in the woods the situation becomes extremely dangerous. You can't see anything without your flashlight; However, your flashlight makes you the perfect target when the bad guy has a gun. Drones today even have thermal imaging. They can fly high above, and spot the bad guy even if he's hiding. Often they can even see if he has a weapon or not. This is much safer as police officers can better surround the suspect. Then bring in the K9 dog to flush them out. I fly my own drones today and love every minute of it. I only wish we had these back in the day. Our department had no helicopter. Drones are actually much safer. If someone shoots it down you only lose a drone not a large aircraft with fuel and human piolets. The only down to drones are they will most likely replace police helicopters all together. For the price of one copter, you could put a drone in every police car. But in a big city, I think the residents would welcome this. I lived also in San Diego and the helicopters flying overhead just about every night were quite annoying. Drones are quiet and non-intrusive. It's easy to see a large helicopter but much more difficult to see a small drone. Street side pharmacies can easily be surveilled with drones. Sorry Police Pilots but even your job will most likely be replaced. Better get your Part 107 license. You're probably going to need it.
Damn.... future cop here they come!!!!
I guess you could call it a quadCOPter.
Are these the same ones that are lve been seeing at dark.
Just got a ticket and not because an officer clocked me, it was a drone that clocked me, officer was kind enough to not write me up for how fast I was really going
